Sparky's Quantum Adventure - Quest Review in Description
Ambition. You see it a lot in the modding communities. Used appropriately, it fuels the creation of some of the greatest mods that ever graced the Nexus.
Often times though, it leaves you with Sparky's Quantum Adventure.
I'm not sure if The Author is Privy to the Creation Kit Beta, but I think many of the issues present here would still be relevant regardless.
Aside from being borderline unplayable in its initial release, everything about the mod reeks of The Author trying to make a Grander Experience than they were able and/or capable to create.
The concept of Travelling back to Pre-War times to try and stop The Great War is Sound, if a little Out-There, but the way NPCs are incredibly uncaring of The Time Travelling Badass smelling of Blood and Mirelurk Spit makes the premise utterly laughable. Not Even the Scientists or Armed Guards in the Pre-War Time Travel Facility question it. It's totally bizarre.
Mechanically, The Quest is simple, but it Works.
The Problem is its put into this unnecessarily large Map which serves as no real benefit to the gameplay because there is literally nothing between the 3 main areas of The Mod. No Enemies, No Wildlife, Nothing. Should I also mention there is no Fast Travel? A good amount of your time will be spent trudging through empty forest. Lord Have Mercy if you're unlucky enough to have played the first version which has No Quest Markers, meaning you will have no idea where to go because the NPCs don't give you any sort of directions.
This Mod could have been a fun romp, but as it is, it's all Talk with very little Meat. And The Talk isn't that good either.
Had the mod been scaled down, perhaps ditched visiting Pre-War Sanctuary, and took place entirely in a Military Facility (Which is where the majority of the action in The Mod is anyway) the experience could have been a lot better.
Ambition can be a great thing, but you have to recognize you're limits, whether they're from your Tools, or your personal Skill.
