This mod should still work. Any bugs are probably vanilla issues, unless Bethesda's Next Gen update broke something.

However, I haven't touched this mod since 2017 and I haven't played Fallout 4 in almost as long, so if there are any real problems, they will likely remain unfixed. If you experience any issues, or just want to pick different locations on different saves without having to adjust your load order, try one of these mods instead:



The Mercer Safehouse quest randomly chooses the location of Mercer Safehouse from a list of 12 possible settlements. This mod removes the randomization, forcing it to choose the settlement that you want.

Note that you do not select which one you want in-game. There is a separate mod file for each safehouse and whichever one loads last will determine the location.

Installation

Automatic: Install with a mod manager that supports FOMOD installers (Vortex, Mod Organizer 2, etc.), and you will be able to select a safehouse location in the installer.

Manual: The archive contains a separate folder for each settlement. Copy the .esp file from one of those folders to your Data directory.

IMPORTANT

You must have the plugin enabled when you talk to Doctor Carrington at the end of "Boston After Dark." That is when the location is chosen, and this mod won't change it if you install it afterwards, even if you haven't gotten the "Mercer Safehouse" quest from P.A.M. yet.

It should be possible to remove the mod at any point after completing "Boston After Dark." I made it as clean as possible so it should not leave any junk behind to cause problems. But there's also no harm in leaving it enabled either.
