Description
===========
This mod reduces the amount of blood displayed in the game. This is done mostly by reducing the size of blood decal textures and by reducing the amount of blood spray. No blood effects are eliminated . . . just downsized. My optional higher resolution replacement textures will actually make the blood and blood stains more realistic looking (and can be used without the Less_Blood.esp, if you do not want to decrease the amount of blood).
Less_Blood was made to work along with my Gore_No_More mod (http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7318), which removes most of the gore from the Fallout 3 game world (along with screen blood splatters and combat dismemberment and exploding body parts). But these two mods can be used independently. See the screenshots for the combined effect of Less_Blood and Gore_No_More.

Details
=======
When I first started playing Fallout 3, I was really, really turned off by all the unnecessary blood and gore in the game. So I immediately began searching for mods that would get rid of most of the gore, but was never totally happy with the results.

This mod focuses on reducing the amount of blood to what I feel is a more tolerable level.
It also makes the blood decals more realistic looking (if you install the optional Less_Blood_HiRes_Texture_Pack).

What this Mod does:
- Reduces the size of blood splatter decals.
- Reduces the amount of blood spray.
- Reduces the size of the blood decals that are placed on bodies when wounded.
- Reduces the size of the static blood decals (permanent blood on floors, walls, etc.)
- Improves the appearance of some of the blood and blood stain decals.

Additional Optional File (requires Less_Blood to be installed first):
- Less_Blood_HiRes_Texture_Pack.7z: Higher resolution replacement textures for blood decals and stains (reduces blurriness)

Install
=======
Option A (preferred method) - Install my archive file (Less_Blood.7z) with FOMM. If a window happens to pop up, asking if you to want to overwrite the files, chose YES.
Option B (if for some strange reason you are not using FOMM): Unzip my archive (this Gore_No_More.7z file that you downloaded) into your Fallout 3\Data folder. If that pesky window happens to pop up, asking if you to want to overwrite the files, chose YES.

To use the Less_Blood_HiRes_Texture_Pack (an additional download file), you must FIRST install Less_Blood and then install the Less_Blood_HiRes_Texture_Pack, overwriting all the textures.

Load Order
==========
Load the Less_Blood.esp AFTER any mods that alter the size of blood splatter decals, alter the amount of blood spray, or alter the size of blood wound decals. If you are also using my Gore_No_More mod, put the two esps next to each other in the load order (but it doesn't matter which one loads first).

Optional ini Edits
==================
To further reduce the amount of combat blood:
Open your Fallout.ini file (C:\Users\Documents\My Games\Fallout3)
Under [Display] find the following line:
iMaxDecalsPerFrame=10
Change the default 10 to a lower value to reduce the maximum number of blood decals that will be displayed.
IMPORTANT: If you change the iMaxDecalsPerFrame value in your Falloutini file, you need to make the same edit to your FalloutPrefs.ini file.

For increased realism:
1.) Increase the maximum number of blood decals displayed . . . as shown above, but increase the value to "iMaxDecalsPerFrame=25" (without the quotes) - this mod's smaller decals permit many more blood decals to be displayed, before things get really messy.
2.) Increase the length of time that blood decals last (before they begin to fade).
In your Fallout.ini file, under [Display] find the following line:
fDecalLifetime=10.0000
The value is for the number of seconds (the default is only 10 seconds). For 10 minutes, change the value to 600.
Note that wound decals will disappear when you change apparrel, move to a different cell, or load a saved game. And wounds that you get in first person will not appear in third person view (and vice versa).

Uninstall
=========
Option A: using FOMM, deactivate the Less_Blood mod and delete it (right click on it and pick delete). [If you installed the Less_Blood_HiRes_Texture_Pack, deactivate and delete that as well.]

Option B: (now you're probably wishing that you had used FOMM to install this thing!)
a.) Manually find the esp and delete it (Fallout 3\Data\Less_Blood.esp)
b.) Delete this text file: Less_Blood.txt.
c.) Locate and delete all the mod's texture files (refer to the downloaded archive file for the specific files that need to be deleted).

Incompatibility
===============
(or rather, what is not compatible): Believe it or not, this little sucker will overwrite any mods:
- that alters the size of blood splatter decals.
- that alters the amount of blood spray.
- that alters the size of the blood decals that are placed on bodies when wounded.
- that alters the size of the static blood decals (permanent blood on floors, walls, etc.)

Known Issues or Bugs
====================
None that I'm aware of . . . but I'm still a rookie at this modding stuff . . . so please let me know if you find any, and perhaps someone will nice enough to show me how to fix it.

History
=======
- Version 1.0, 07/02/09 - updated esp to include reduction of the size of the blood decals that are placed on bodies when wounded. I also added new textures that reduce the size of the static blood decals (permanent blood on floors, walls, etc.)
- Version 0.1, 06/29/09 - esp only, to reduce the size of blood splatter decals and the amount of blood spray.

===============
Whatever . . . but I'm not responsible for any bad karma that this mod may cause. So if you want to use it, you have to agree not to blame me for anything (as I just could not handle that). You do have my permission to credit me (and my mod) for any good karma that you may receive.

I hope that you enjoy my mod.
