I know this mod hasn't been updated in 5 years, but if the mod creator somehow happens to see this, would you consider making a no blood version of this mod for the kiddies such as myself (if you consider 14 kiddie, that is)? I was really interested in getting a fallout game, and if you made a no blood mod, combined with your gore no more mod, as well as a profanity removal mod, I just might be able to convince my parents to let me get this game. Thanks!
Not trying to start a flame war, but shooting someone with a low caliber round leaves a nice sized painting if there's a wall behind them. Especially if you hit the head The general rule is: The faster the round travels, the less blood spatter there is.
Source: Five years of hunting experience. So far I've done head shots, lung shots, heart shots, and one kill with my folding knife (I wounded a deer by accident).

@ Dynastia & vonu: I really don't know to change it so different weapons use different blood decals, which is why my mod reduces the size of the decal to give the result of what I consider to be an more realistic average amount of blood. Plus my high-rez version looks much more realistic than the vanilla decals, and if you use my ini changes, the decals will not fade away unnaturally fast. But you are correct . . . this is a personal preference, and I tailored this mod to my own comfort level.
@babyeatingdingo: I don't understand what you are asking. My blood decals should show up just on a body replacer just the same as the default decals. You do understand that you have to be in 3rd person view for the decals to appear. And they disappear when you remove an outfit.
I think you're getting at a bunch of good ideas for the making the blood in the game more realistic.
I'm not sure if it's even possible, as I have no scripting knowledge at all, but perhaps the best way to make the gore in this game more realistic would be to find a way to have different ammunition types cause different effects. For instance, in your example, having a shotgun blast result in a larger decal.
I'd go one step further and add that to the dismemberment in this game. For starters, toss the entire "head snapping off" nonsense. That's fine and dandy for bladed weapons, but nonsense for firearms. I'd almost go so far as to remove the severing of limbs for firearms entirely, simply on the fact that everything snaps off a bit too neatly and cleanly. But, mainly, I'd like to see different ammunition have a different chance to blow off a limb. Make it a rarity with small pistols, and more likely with large rifles and shotguns. Again, the idea being "less is more".
This would work both in the spirit of helping those with churning stomachs, and those of us a little fed up with the immersion-breaking blood of this game. Things such as the raider gore should be especially horrific, but instead there's little difference between that and my own victims. And I (for the moment) am a good character!
Above all, I do agree with the actual "splatter" needing the ol' heave ho. At the very least a very, very small chance of ever happening, but I'd be more happy with it gone altogether. The way it exists in most games, you'd think blood defied gravity and had the properties of crazy glue.
In any case, I stand by my original assessment. Been running this mod with "Less Gore" and the Capital Wasteland just feels like a bad B-movie without it enabled.
I'm not sure whether I want to endorse this file or not ;
The file does what it says, don't get me wrong ; and if you want to reduce blood for a purely visceral "it turns my stomach" kind of reason, this is definately a mod worth having. If you're after realism, this one doesn't quite deliver as well as I hoped.
Shotgun blasts that hit a character the whole breadth of their chest end up leaving one tiny little bullet hole in a seemingly random place in the blast radius, for instance, and the momentary splatter of a bullet hitting is incredibly large (vanilla-sized) for the amount of blood left behind.
Overall, this file is something that boils down to personal taste. It does cut down the ridiculously huge blood splatters, but in certain circumstances it brings its own little annoyances and inconsistancies with it.
If shotguns left vanilla-sized wounds and the bullet-hit-splatter was toned down (or better yet, made to look like a dust cloud, as vonu said and as seen in real combat footage) I'd call this mod perfect. As it stands, I think it's a really a question of what annoys you more, too much blood or too little? Too much blood annoys me more than too little, so I'm keeping the mod running, but I wouldn't blame anyone for preferring vanilla's "too much" (except morons who think vanilla isn't unrealisticly bloody)

Being a sick person who chops off legs for fun doesn't make your bullets magic...
