I have GOG version and it immediately CTD with this mod installed. Even with uninstalled because the xml file didn't revert for some reason... took me a while to find the issue and get rid of it.

Answer: the possibility of other people providing help/advice or recommendations of other mods that can do what they need. And other readers coming along afterward with the same issue/query and potentially finding such info (or finding it was unresolved).
I've noted there are two types of commentors - those (mostly younger ones, and sadly includes a lot of forum admins etc) who are almays focused on the newest games and seem to treat these pages as some sort of topical social-media stream that has to be current or considered "dead" (just like how they describe any mod not currently being updated). And secondly old timers like me who know such threads are actually a (potentially) useful reservoir of info for many, many years (even a decade or two) as games age.
@streetyson - Totally agree. This my third or fourth refresh on a Fallout 3 + Mods playthrough, and whenever I am looking at mods to install I always farm the comments to see what issues people might be having, advice to get the optimal use out of the mods, and even redirects to better implemented versions.
I will often add my own comments to mods, even if there hasn't been activity for years, if I feel that I have something to add that hasn't already been said, because I know others will follow in my footsteps and perhaps get valuable advice and insights from what I and others have left.
I know modders who update their mods even 10 years after release, who knows, maybe a miracle will happen. Do you see into the future? This is one thing. The second thing is that people always need help and this is how they might find it, some even create a mod or changes themselves and then post a link to that mod.

The GOG version of the game doesn't need the disabler (and doesn't need steam either, for that matter). But anyone still using the disabler should consider switching to the Anniversary Patcher.
guns like the assault rifle and minigun and flamer don't work for some reason when this mod is enabled edit: it works after I disabled and enabled the mod
