I like the way you present your work. Not only a gun. I avoid new guns to be honest although I am a sniper and shooter but I have better weapons :)

!::! Fred wishes you the best.

Nice! Gonna add this to my next playthrough. When I played F4, this was one of my go-to weapons! Thanks a ton

Thanks, my end goal for this mod is to add a quest to "fix the timeline" since in Fo4 Danse give you the weapon. I have the idea to make the lone wanderer take the weapon back to the citadel and put it in a locked container with a note saying "4 Danse". Alternatively he can put another laser rifle (same type of weapon) and the explaination why it is in Fo4 would be that Danse "Fix" his childhood weapon.

The only thing that limmit me to do it right now is my beginner skils with the Fo3 Geck and my limmited free time. Maybe i can finish the 1.0 version in 2-3 week.

That sounds awesome man, I really like the quest idea! If you managed to do that for other weapons, I think a lot of people would check out your mods :D I'll be tracking your mods and leaving an endorse/kudos

Great idea to add this connection to Danse's DC background. But there's no need to get too tangled in lore or quests. What's "unique" about Righteous Authority isn't the gun itself but, as Danse tells you, it's his "own personal modification of the standard Brotherhood Laser Rifle". Thus your gun can be from his RC scrap merchanting days. Yours can be the "Righteous Authority Prototype". An old laser rifle he found broken in DC, fixed up himself and tinkered on as his personal sidearm. He doesn't need it after he joins the BoS as he can apply his knowledge to modify brand new laser rifles, using brand new parts. All your lore would need is this prototype to be in used condition but repairable with standard laser rifles.

As for explaining its presence, there's various options and locations. I can't say much without some spoilers, which I'll try to keep minimal:
    Spoiler:
    Show
1a) In Sister's room. He liberated it from an RC locker. He's fairly new to RC, doesn't know Danse except the gun was stowed with "useless personal junk" belonging to someone by that name. Sister plans to fix it up and use it himself. This gun would be in poor condition.
1b) In Sister's room, with note from Eulogy saying he may need it to take down the Android when he finds it, but don't flash it around as a girl who put up a fight over it was from RC and before dying in captivity claimed it had been her brother's (or old flame?), some Danse guy.
    2) In the Wheatherly Hotel Room after completing Those! with a note from Vera thanking you again and saying Danse left it behind telling her to find a good home for it and that she'll let him know what you did for her family. This gun could be 75% or better.
    3) Connected to Those! but just on Wilk's dad or in his house, with a note from Danse gifting the old gun to him for if ants come back. This could even be written to suggest Danse cleared a previous wave of the ants. Maybe the gun could be on the dad but the note in the house with some spare ammo - hinting to you dad himself must now have the gun.

You may already have better ideas, but if not hope you get my angle that you can work it into the game story without actually doing much quest effort/tinkering. In my 3 above ideas, only number 2 would require a bit of bother, making it conditional on completing that quest. And 3 may be the easiest as 1 & 2 may require tinkering to stop NPCs from taking it before you get there(?)

    Thanks for sharing.

I should be thanking you for your neat mod idea. I've enjoyed thinking about it all. If you're interested, while pondering a possible slavers connection, I came up with a reason for the gun's odd, almost religious sounding name. I'll use a spoiler to save space:
      Spoiler:
      Show
Maybe some point in the past a young teen Danse has his first run-in with slavers. In DC sees 3 guys dragging off a young scavver kid Danse knows. He asks them what the hell they're doing. "Oh" they laugh, "we're slaving, fool, and we'll happily take you too".

Father Clifford's missionary work among DC's urchins drilled into them about right & wrong, and always warned them about evil adults who might try to take them away etc. So Danse rather precociously tells them that "slaving is evil" and to unhand his friend.

"Oh", they laugh, "and on whose authority, you self righteous little jerk?" Danse pulls out his repaired laser "This authority". Doesn't go well. The slavers are surprised a young scavver has a superb laser and such fight in him, but he's still outnumbered. Danse blasts the nearest slaver, the second slaver badly injures Danse, but as he goes down Danse gets another shot off and mortally wounds that guy. The enslaved kid uses the distraction to slip from the third slaver who curses and half turns to catch the kid. This enables the downed, fading Danse to bring his gun back up and shoot the distracted slaver in the flank before he himself passes out. The kid tries to staunch Danse's wounds, but he's bleeding out badly, dying, so they go to find help - and run right into Paladin Krieg's patrol. They see the carnage and the now-dead slavers, first-aid Danse, scoop him up and take him to RC. An impressed Krieg even decides not to confiscate Danse's repaired laser. Once Danse recovers and learns how he got back to RC, he of course decides to join the BoS at the first opportunity. And we know (from FO4 dialogue) that it's Krieg who sponsors him.
So that'd neatly explain not just the gun's name but also why Danse joins the BoS and why Krieg sponsors him - iirc, nowhere in FO4 is any of that background fleshed out. I even scoured Danse's FO4 dialogue text. But someone else may have more or know better.

All you'd then need to do is figure a place for the gun to be. To work this potential history of the gun's name into your mod, I'd imagine Vera may know it. Or maybe Danse includes a note about the gun's background when he gives it to her, Wilks' dad, or other friend. Maybe Wilks' dad (or whoever) could be the one who Danse once saved from the slavers, and why Danse later gave them the gun.

For now I use the fo3 laser rifle asset to make Righteous Autority since it is the exact same model as the one for Fo4, just lower graphic. Im 95% sure it will be compatible, let me know if it is or not I will add it to the description.
