PLEASE READ BEFORE PROCEED
Before anything else, consider this mod in beta state. This mod started as a fun little side project for my next mod, but it evolved to become something bigger. Power cable animations are a little bit wonky, clearly need more work. Even developers didn't bother themselves with it, and I understand why they went like that. I did my best to create a work-around as best as I could. Considering this mod is for Fallout 3, I count this as a success. Now that I assume we are on the same page, please enjoy my mod. Also, if you are not interested in the short story, just skip to the description section. (DO NOT skip the install/uninstall instructions.)
STORY
It was an ordinary day at The Megaton. Church of Atom worships the big monster that quietly sits in the middle of town over two centuries. Scavengers come and go for the trade. Lucas watches over the town. In her shop, sitting in front of her computer, Moira still tries to figure out how to complete her so-called " The Survival Guide". Nothing was unusual. While lost in thoughts she heard the sound she is always familiar with.
Bell sound that indicates a new customer. She said, "I'll be there in seconds!" with her joyful tone. The man walked in front of the counter without a reply. Moira took a quick glance at the man and said, "Oh it's you... Retral was it? The idea that you call Capital Scavenger saved so many poor souls who were unfortunate enough to travel the city. I also like the idea. So that I may even include it in my survival guide." Moira is still fixated on her screen, The man finally broke his silence. "It is good to see you too Moira but I'm here for a different reason, I have finally fixed the heat problem." Moira replied casually, "Ah yes, this air conditioner is giving me hard time.. wait, I didn't call somebody for that." Following her reply, he put something heavy on the counter. As a reaction to the sound, Moira finally turned to face the man. She looked confused and concerning, "What the f..k is that?! Oh no, was this thing once laser rifle? Why there are fridge parts on it? What is with the hose and the battery pack? Moira asking questions rapidly didn't let the man have a chance to explain himself. He just let her finish. "All this for what exactly? Having a cold Nuka Cola while shooting at your target? This is worst than your.. what was it? The one with the weird name. Ah yes, Overly Engineered Simple Spike Spitter. " After the wall of questions, he calmly replied, "I always find your imagination fascinating, Moira. Thanks for the insults, I guess? Anyway, pre-war eggheads didn't push this rifle's limit because either they didn't come up with the solution or just simply they didn't. But that doesn't mean this rifle can't go beyond that. The battery provides the required power to output a high volume of firepower. Naturally, this will cause overheating. So I installed these fridge parts to sustain the rifle in a cold state." While listening to the man Moira was also examining the Rifle, specifically the new parts. "I really don't know. This doesn't look safe. I don't sell stuff I don't trust." The man kept his poker face on. "Oh trust me Moira, a lot of raiders got hurt testing this thing." After looking directly at the man in the eye for few seconds as if she tried to give a message, " Fine, but I don't make any promises. Your last product was created around the idea of saving lives. This directly contradicts that." The man averted his eyes for a brief moment. He hasn't expected this argument. Only said "Understandable". Moira reached under the counter pull out a small sack contains bottlecaps put it before the man, "It is a deal then."
The man nods and picks the sack. "Until I invent a new thing to sell, take care Moira" While he is about the exit the shop Moira asked, "What do you call this thing?" Retral stopped at the door frame, still looking forward, "This was once my friend's gun. Her name was Lam. She was a member of the Brotherhood of Steel. She was killed on her mission. Lam was an honorable person, truly loyal to her cause. I respected that woman. That is why I built this gun; to honor her. I never thought of giving it a name." With sadness in her voice, "if this means so much to you then why did you give it to me?"
"I can't bear the regret this gun reminds me." He then hastily walked away. "That was something," she said. Turned her gaze to the weapon, "Lam's Gun huh? Hmm... I will find you a good name lady don't you worry."
DESCRIPTION
- LAMG is an automated version of a laser rifle with upgraded visual elements. Rough answer to what if an LMG fires lasers.
- Mod comes with 5 weapons. RX813(the LAMG), The first prototype for those who prefer the original look, the Lightweight version of LAMG, Eyes hurting stripped-down version of LR, and the Pew Pew pistol(really).
- The fun fact is that while these weapons look different, they all represent each stage of the making process. While creating the LAMG, ideas flashed my mind momentarily and I saved that stage for the other weapon.
- It is a really fast shooting gun. Although it is a little bit op gun, using at low skills/level, this gun isn't effective at long range and rather becomes an ammo waster than being OP.
- You can get the weapons from Moira as usual.
- Power cable uses armor weights so when you holster the gun, the hose has a nightmarish look. To counter that, I wrote a script. When equipped/unequipped and holstered/unholstered messages will pop up don't worry.
- Power cable uses body addon slot 2 and the Battery pack uses addon slot 3.
- Power cable only tested for vanilla animations. (It was already a painful process. I couldn't test it for another animation set.) If you are using animation replacer mods, the power cable might look weird. You have been warned.
- Screenshots have been taken with Hi-Res Weapons V3 installed. I highly recommend it for the textures. I also recommend Semi-Auto Queue to make your Pew Pew more effective.
- There is an optional file for replacing the vanilla laser rifle with RX813 model without cable and battery.
INSTALL & UNINSTALL
- Install with your mod manager
- Since this mod uses a script, I highly advise you to unequip anything related to this mod before uninstalling just to be safe.
