So, i cant tell if its just me but my game crashes in the intro movies/screens with this mod on, i installed it usin NMM so, idk what's wrong/what im doing wrong, any help?
.. not familiar with NMM. If this is the only mod you have installed and it's crashing, make sure you have FOSE 1.3b and Command Extender >= 21 installed ..
Beyond that the only thing that comes to mind is some other mod causing the problem.
it works great just the images of the stimpacks don't work and neither do any of the health ap stat change just turn invisible, its like using stats and info only fr. :( help me.
Unfortunately you're using a mod manager I know nothing about.
Based on your first post, the guesses that come to mind are somehow the skHUD version of hudtemplates.xml is being overwritten and archive invalidation is possibly not done.
Okay. I hope this isn't too dumb, but how do I change the colours of the various items in version 8. When I first loaded, it was the same as the rest of the UI, but I must have done something because now everything's black and I can't figure out how to change it. I've been all through the in-game menus and read the description, and looked at some of the xml files. I found where colour is discussed but it doesn't say exactly how and where to change it. Thanks.
Are you using a Mod Manager? Did everything go black while you were playing or adjusting things, or did it go black after you started your game again?
Somehow one or all of the Brightness settings have either been set to 0 or they're not being loaded at all.
The most likely cause is something got mucked up with the XML file load order, (UIO can cause issues) Make a clean save .. make sure skHUD is the last mod you installed, or the last mod in your file load order and try again.
If you're using Mod Organizer, make sure to check the Overwrite folder and delete any Menus folder you find there first. If you're using FOMM, uninstall skHUD .. then you'll have to dig through your game install directory to find the Menus folder and at least delete hud_main_menu.xml and hudtemplates.xml if they are there .. then reinstall skHUD.
Thank you. Yes I'm using Mod Organizer (1 not 2). It's quite possible that UIO caused the problem. I've installed and uninstalled it. I'm also using VUI+ and it seems to insist on being last in the load order. But SK HUD is next to last.
With Mod Organizer 1 it's very likely UIO causing part of the issues by leaving modified XML files in your overwrite folder.
There's an option in the skHUD installer if you are using VUI+ ... Loading skHUD before VUI+ , or installing it without it's VUI+ support option ticked will cause issues exactly like things being black .. there's a copy of hudtemplates.xml that comes with VUI+ that needs to be overwritten by skHUD.
Do hope you manage to get it working properly and that it works well for you.
I'm using this with Vanilla UI Plus and Arwen's Realism Tweaks. Everything seems to be working fine, except the prompts when you look at an interactable object do not show anymore. For example, when I look at a chair, I no longer get the "E - Sit" message. Does this sound like a bad install, or is this a setting I can tweak? Can't seem to find one.
EDIT - Fixed by putting VUI+ below skHUD in the load order.
The Mod is great but I found it causes numerous crashes when looting containers/ bodies, particularly in areas added from A World of Pain Mod. I cant loot an average of 3-4 containers before its a guaranteed crash. Its always after exiting the loot menu so maybe its something to do with the skhud elements disappearing and reappearing upon menu exit. Removing the mod fixes the issue. Also, sometimes the hud disappears completely. Reinstalling the mod doesn't help. Loading a previous save doesn't help. You just find that all your previous saves suddenly have no hud at all. I was going to try starting a new game to see if I could get the hud to come back but I ended up just removing the mod when I found that it fixed the loot crashing issue.
Yes. Installed with FOMM 0.14.14.5. VanillaUI+ installed as well. SkHUD FWE.esp also. Installed last and at the bottom of my load order. Update: Fixed my hud disappearing by deleting menus from the data folder and overwriting with a new VUI+ install. Upon reinstalling skhud, all stats and such reappear as well, but I still have crashing when I loot.
Update: Tried toggling all the hud elements to hidden to see if I just had too much going on. No Avail
Glad you got the HUD to show up again. Your solution was almost the only way it could have been done while using FOMM
The only thing that comes to mind that -might- cause a crash like that is some weird scripting conflict with AWOP or FWE .. those two mods alone change so many things .. I haven't looked at or played either of them since long before this mod was released.
Setting them to hidden leaves the scripting for that piece still active, Each of them has a portion of script that gets skipped if they're disabled, Trouble shooting, if you have enough patience, you can try to see if it's a specific stat display that's causing the issue.
For a new game or a clean save .. open - skHUDMainsettings.xml - and set all of the _*VIS to 0 .. then enable them one at a time in game and try your looting
As for the HUD disappearing completely, have you tapped the immersive key by accident?
.. beyond that .. I'm away from my main rig for a while
Got the mod to work (version 8.0), adjusted the display info as desired, but there's one thing: The Needs display for Hardcore Mode appears when configuring the HUD, but always disappears after a few seconds or so. I don't use any other mod that alters the HUD aside from this, so what could be the problem?
If you;re using the version that FO3 Hardcore mode comes with ,, it's been built so that it only shows up as your needs become more pressing .. i just added to it so that it's placement could be adjusted via this mod
If you;re using the built in version (the one that displays numbers), check that it's immersive setting is not set to auto vanish, which are most values above 1
(v9.0 info is there because i was close to release ready .. burnout has prevented me from finishing the proofing at the moment)
If the new HUD elements are showing up when you start your game, I can't think of a reason for the hotkey combination to fail to open the menu. You need to hold the keys for at least 1 second.
You cannot change the CTRL key, but you can change the second key .. the apostrophe .. via console in game ~ set skHotKey to
.. any of the DirectX Scancode values found at the link to them in the description ( v5.0+ -/- Game Menu -/- File Settings (part 2) - Settings Files ) - or - you can change the skHotKey Global variable in FO3Edit before starting your game with a clean save.
Do you have archive invalidation enabled? The only thing that comes to mind at the moment is that somehow the required images were not installed, and those scrambled squares are what's supposed to be the error image.
Can you please (click by click) walk me thru the process how to enable a HUD object like Karma? Just assume i'm a complete noob and retard.
I installed the mod and all the requirements, i am in the menu, but can't for the life of me figure out how to make a stat appear on the screen and change the position of it.
I am in the first menu (skHUD), i hover my cursor over -Karma- , press and hold Shift and click on -Karma- (to make the Karma Stat visible) the menu disappears for half a second, reappears and nothing is changed.
In the Karma.pos menu all stats (_skkarmaX, _skkarmaV, _skkarmaY and _skkarmaH are at -999. Does that mean the Karma stat would be visible, but is out of the screen?
Sorry for the stupid questions, but i tried for two hours, i read the description and the comments. Looks like i'm just too thick to figure this out.
.. the correct key for the live menu is (default) .. -hold- CTRL ... or the equivalent on a non english keyboard .. click "Adjust Visuals" to get the "Live" menus.
-999 means that something is not installed correctly .. as in skHUD is NOT the last mod in your load order with XML files in it. It also means that you did NOT read everything, including installer instructions.
As you asked for an assumption ..
This game is +-20yrs old. I've only been modding for +-5, and everything I didn't know, I found online, then learned more by experiment. This is a HUD overhaul mod .. and it complicates nearly everything to do with newly modding your game .
I would like it to work for you, but to explain how would require re-writing a novel that has already been written.

Found the error. I play Fallout 3 since 2010 (with pauses) and this time for the first time using Vortex. Like the complete idiot i am, i thought Vortex would put the newest installed mod (exept esm files) on the bottom of the load order, like every other Modloader i know. Vortex doesn't. It does not even allow to change the load order. Welp, back to Mod Organizer.
As long as you understand the difference between esm/esp load order and file load order in Mod Organzier, that is an acceptable response. Glad it''s working for you.

menus\prefabs\skHUD\skHUDTemplatesettings.xml -> _skActionFont
Oddly it reads like both .. both defaults should have at least "Sit" showing .. dimmed ..
.. putting VUI+ after skHUD is not the intended load order and will break many things.
Which mod manager are you using?
Do hope it's working well for you otherwise.

I believe I followed the instructions correctly ( of version 5.0+ ) but I can't make the Main Menu pop-up with CRLT + ' . The hud actually shows up .
Is there anyway of changing the keys for this ? I check out my FOSE and it seems to be working .
I'm modding with Vortex , any help would be appreciated.

My problem is that the textures included in the mod wont work for me. they appear distorted and warped.
I have the FOSE and Command Extender installed, and ive read the lengthy instructions provided and i found no fix or solution for the issue im having.
