Do I need to install Reshade before this? Or do I just need to copy paste these files?

Also, if I launch the game with Daybreak it crash at start, even in windows mode
If I launch it without it, it works

No need to install reshade, just drag and drop the contents of .rar file in SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client where eso64.exe is!

As for Daybreak, firstly daybreak must be installed before reshade and then you have to go to ShaderAddOns, and rename the fog shader to 9cdbdb6f9a6dbed7-ps_replace.txt and the dof to 55efc4f21ff1e1362-ps_replace.txt (open the .txt file first and check the first line to see what shader it is). Hopefully that should fix it!

Hi, any idea how to get Daybreak to work with this? I used Daybreak and my own preset on Reshade 5.1 (with the fix for Necrom) before.
But since this is using Reshade 6.0.0 game crashed every time after logo. Deleting Daybreak files fixed it. Is there a way to use both this reshade and daybreakl?

Hey, daybreak seems to be working fine for me, can you try clean installing daybreak first, and then the reshade? Game must also be played in fullscreen windowed mode to avoid crashes.

Confirmed, same for me. I can't use this one with daybreak
Daybreak works with Reshade 5.1, 6.0+ crash starting the game

Hey, so I just checked again and daybreak+reshade seems to be working for me.

Can you reinstall daybreak first and then the reshade? After that please go to ShaderAddOns, and rename the fog shader to 9cdbdb6f9a6dbed7-ps_replace.txt and the dof to 55efc4f21ff1e1362-ps_replace.txt (open the .txt file first and check the first line to see what shader it is). This should fix it!

Can you share your Home tab of ReShade? I'm doing something wrong but I'm not quite so sure. Probably something about the installation steps of ReShade.

This mod contains my MShaders files being redistributed without my permission. The files themselves explicitly state in all-caps:

    DO NOT REDISTRIBUTE WITHOUT PERMISSION!

    Remove my files immediately.

I have tried a dozen different reshades for ESO and this is by far the best one. Well done.

the same goes for the ReShade DLL´s.
do not redistribute them - link the reshade homepage cause that is the only SAFE and secure source for it.
this will otherwise create a whole lot of issues for the users too.. not up to date shaders besides other things.

    Thank you...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I know it is allowed to redistribute reshade dlls according to the EULA, as per what crosire said regarding this in the thread here.

Since ReShade itself has a few mechanics to make sure users see where it originated (the ingame overlay text at startup), you are free to distribute the DLLs with your presets. It's preferable to not do so to ensure the user always downloads the latest version, but it's allowed. The EULA (which is the EULA for ReShade alone) explicitly states that (the only restriction is that you are not allowed to sell ReShade alone, you may ship it with a commercial game though). Also, credits should of course be given.

The reasoning for me packaging the reshade this way is so that is a easy drag 'n drop installation because in the past I had a lot of issues people being unable to install the preset properly. The other reason is if reshade receives any big updates, then some shaders might break retroactively and if those shader authors are no longer active then the preset will break.

These packaged installations are stable, meaning even if I do not update it if someone were to download it 5 years from now although it would run on an older reshade, it would boot up and everything will work fine as is plus people still can update it by themselves if they choose modify when installing new reshade version.

yes, but like stated it is prefered not to.. I do understand ur point though..

it also causes a lot of issues when one has to give support to those people downloading ur stuff here..
some end up with double shaders, some end up with shaders that arent working and needs updating, and reshade also gets updated..
BEST PRACTICE is to just share the preset and link to the reshade.me page (along with a info what version is needed, ADDON or NON ADDON).

the user then can, when using the reshade setup tool, select ur preset and ReShade will download the shaders needed.
This way, user have the up to date shaders and RS version and we ( the help team) dont have issues when people come to us and need support.
i mean its ur choice in the end what you do, but i just wanted to mention it. And also, make sure u read every single shaders INFO and check if you are allowed to distriute it.. if unsure, ask the DEV.

      i hope you understand.

      best regards...

I updated Reshade to the latest version. I'm not using the version with full addon support.
I downloaded and installed the latest version of this mod and I'm getting tons of CTDs. Every time I log in.
    Is anybody else getting CTD?

It's in the known issues section, but you have to play in windowed (fullscreen) mode, something about fullscreen and reshade right now is causing a lot of CTDs. And if you were using older version, should redownload the new 5.9.2 one.

Hi Exalted. Nice to see you being active again. I did upgrade to Reshade 5.9.2. For whatever reason, I'm getting less CTDs now when I press the Delete key to toggle Reshade on/off. It was happening a lot when I first installed it the other day, but now it's calmed down and have not been getting as many crashes. I still play in fullscreen mode on my laptop. The game will sometimes freeze when I press the Windows key to tab out to my desktop and when I go back into the game, it's frozen. That wasn't happening on the old version of reshade and your mod.

Question, this is the non-ray tracing version you uploaded, correct? Do you have a ray-tracing version? I have an RTX 3080 and I want to try and push my machine to its limits with a quintillion light particles, etc.... Can you help me?

I still like your reshade out of all the others on Nexus, as it's the most photo-realistic looking. I like pitch dark nights as if I'm playing a survival-horror game and shadows and fog and reflective water. I'm not into the vibrant fantasy look. Basically trying to get ESO to look like tes5 Skyrim with nextgen mods. Obviously we can't have parallax textures for ESO.

I updated the RT version, with DOF and optional AA* so you should be able to download it now. According to my experience, playing in windowed fullscreen mode solves all issue with CTDs, alt tabbing or win tabbing works fine with it.

if in-game TAA and RT feels jittery, turn off AA in-game and use SMAA+FXAA

I haven't been using this ReShade (about to try it out), but I'd also been experiencing a bunch of crashes lately from win tabbing, and I think I've found a solution, so thanks for that!

Hey, I've personally been tweaking some of the parameters and even adding new shaders to this preset to sort of make it my own. I was wondering, what is the purpose of the Monocular_Cues and Clarity shaders in terms of the overall image?

Hey so Monocular_Cues's main purpose is to mask edges and improve depth perception and Clarity is for unsharpening distant stuff, for more clarity. Hope that helps!

Hello, does this mod remove or decrease the fog in the game? I used Daybreak to remove the fog so that the game would look much clearly, but the necrom update broke that mod. Will this mod do something similar( decrease fog to make game less foggy )?

No it does not, its why I recommend using this reshade with daybreak. Daybreak is the only mod that can remove the fog.

EDIT: Daybreak was fixed for the update on the daybreak discord, so you can use daybreak again.

This reshade is amazing, truly incredible work you've done here. You've improved the games visuals in almost every regard. This genuinely helped me fall back in love with this game.

Unfortunately, I've run into some issues that hopefully you can remedy.

    1. Glamarye_Fast_Effects, FGFX, and Monocular_Cues significantly decrease text rendering quality
    Without reshade:

    With reshade (effects turned off):

    With reshade (effects turned on):

    2. The "fix" for green text really just doesn't work. The addon to change green text is very outdated, and doesn't affect other addons which have hardcoded green text (like in their settings menus). I have to set the green exposure to 0, but that has a major effect on how grass appears. Is there any other fix for this?

    3. There is a tiny square of 4 blue pixels always flickering on the bottom left of the window.

    4. Levels file is missing in the newest release. Is this intentional?

Some of the above issues could be solved if reshade didn't affect menus, but I guess that's not possible to do?

    Some additional critique:

    • Photorealistic Bloom and MagicBloom (and to a lesser extent, AmbientLight) are a little unnecessary in my opinion. They make the entire image blurrier and over-brightened in many areas
    • ACESNarkowicz makes the game a little too contrast-y and over-saturated. It looked much more balanced before this was added.

Hey, I'm glad you like the reshade and am happy to have some detailed feedback, which I'll try to address.

      1. Actually this was a foreseen issue on my part, but the monocular_cues shade power is set too high, please change the shade power from 0.500 to 0.250 and the blur shade to 0. It will make the game a bit sharper, so turn off NLM_Sharp. But that is the trade off as the effect on UI vs visuals is always an difficult issue to solve. Glamarye_Fast_Effects and FGFX you can keep on.

      2. Unfortunately the text addons are outdated, so the only option is to set the green exposure back to 0, but the grass will be a bit greener in general, which will bring out the issue of the game's bad ambient occlusion around the grass sprites. However using the Screen Space GI in-game ambient occlusion can remedy this at a performance cost.

      3. This blue dot issue is related to BloomingHDR, which I'll likely try to remove in the future, for now I decided not to change the reshade too much from its state from a year ago. However, related to the additional critique, you can turn this off in favour of keeping the photorealistic xaymar bloom and magicbloom. However, the main reason I kept this reshade customizable is so that users can turn on and off effects to their preference.

      4. Levels was removed in favour of using the game's gamma slider to fix black level instead. You can increase or decrease the slider until you get your preferred black level now, this is different from the gamma calibration, which still has to be done in the 'calibrate' button.

Lastly, everyone's monitor's setting and calibration is different, so there is bound to be discrepancies of how I perceive it, and how others do. Ever since I upgraded my monitor, the game looked a bit washed out at base. So, ACES tonemapping was added to fix this issue so the rest of the shaders can work off a better base image, however this will make the game a bit more contrasty. This is a subjective area, some people like their game to look more neutral, others more contrasty - so it is ultimately a choice, if you'd like to keep your game a bit more neutral you can turn off the tonemapping.

I hope these remedies some of the issues you are having!

      Thanks, that helped a lot!

The monocular_cues fix makes everything a little too over-sharpened even when I disable NLM_Sharp, including text. And some text still has some weird artifacting unless I disable Glamarye. So I might just continue to use the reshade with Monocular_Cues and Glamarye off.

For the grass/ambient occlusion problem, I have an issue with a few of the ambient occlusion options (LSAO and Screen Space GI) where it adds a huge shadow around my character (especially between the legs). Not sure if that happens for everyone, but I just use HBAO because the darkness surrounding my character is annoying.

Also, with ACES, where is that supposed to go in the order of effects? When I download the most recent version of this reshade, it's set to the bottom by default, but when I move it all the way to the top, the image looks a bit more balanced like it was in the previous version. The installation guide on the main page hasn't been updated to include that effect in the load order, so just wanted to know if it's supposed to go on the bottom.
