    Continuation of my Dark Souls 3 mod EMU Light ported for Elden Ring.

    How to report issues:
    What I wanted to do: Press 1 to quickcast the first spell from my offhand weapon
    What I did: I set the quickcast 1 hotkey to "1", global cast spell key to "rbutton"
    What happened instead: I cast spell I have selected, not the one in the first attunement slot

    This gives me sufficient info to help you. In this example I forgot to match the "Switch sorcery" key to my ingame setting, which is why EMU Light couldnt switch to the correct spell before casting. If instead I made a report that looked a bit more like this "I tried quickcast, but it did not work. It didnt cast the proper spell. I have 5 attunement slots.", nobody could have helped me as I did not provide enough relevant information.

      Put the estus in the pouch and use a hotkey for it. Thats what I do.

      How do I do that? I've been trying to set my quick use item key to q to use my estus, but I can't seem to get it working. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong.

      Quickuse is different feature. Just place it into a pouch ingame and set a hotkey for that pouch slot in EMU Light. If you set everything correctly in the right panel, it should just work.

    Hello.

    I have a quick question about the "Minimum key press duration" setting within EMU Light's Advanced Settings. The default value seems to be 23, and it works great; however, I tried decreasing the value to 15, thinking that it would have little to no benefit, and found that I had an increased delay when dodging in-game (I don't know if it is noteworthy, but my dodge and sprint keys are separate). I believe that the dodge delay also increased when I raised the value, but am not 100% positive.

    If at all possible, could you please explain how — exactly — the "Minimum key press duration" setting works, so that I may optimize it as best as possible?

      Hi,

      Thats a good question. Elden Ring registers only key presses that have certain length between being pressed down and being released. Same between being released and being pressed again. I dont know if this is intended to prevent extremely fast macros or unintended due to bad coding. Either way it means that after you press down a key, you have to wait a certain time before you release it if you want ER to register it properly. You must then wait the same time to press it down again for ER to register it as two distinct presses of that key.

      By testing I found that 23ms is a good value for me as its the lowest reliable value. However that value can differ on a different computer, which is why I left it customizable. If you want to optimize, you should lower the value until some key presses start being ignored by the game. Then use the previous value for yourself. The lower the value, the better.

      Roll is the most crucial action in the game, which is why I implemented a failsafe. First EMU Light presses the roll key for your set "Minimum key press duration" time, then it wats 50ms and presses it again and releases it when you release the roll key. Simply said by decreasing the value too much, you returned to the native roll functionality of ER and added 50ms delay on top of it.

      I suggest you test the lowest value using quickcast or quickitems. This stress test Elden Ring and you can clearly see if any of the key presses were lost, since it will arrive at the wrong item/spell.

      I'm confused. Even without the "Enable EMU Light to work with all open windows" setting active, EMU Light works perfectly with Elden Ring Nightreign. Why would it need seperate compatability?

      It works by a chance, because I decided to match the phrase "Elden Ring" to windows title, which for Nightreign is "Elden Ring Nightreign", so it still matches. Its very much unofficial, unintended compatibility.

      As always with any third party software, the official stance is to use it at your own risk. Double that for Nightreign since we dont know anything about it yet. That said Fromsoftware is notoriously lazy on anything and everything PC related, so in my humble opinion, everything is the same as ER and using EMU Light is completely safe. But that is again, my opinion.

    Quickcast does nothing for me. I have 4 attuned spells and I have selected 4 in the UI. I can also choose the amount of selected spells by pressing m and some number, that works. But I don't get how to quickcast at all. I tried just pressing the buttons (1 2 3 or 4), nothing happens. I tried pressing one of the numbers and L1 while holding a seal in my left hand, just casts the currently selected spell. How do you actually make this work. What am I missing?

      Sounds like you did not match the "switch sorcery" key in EMU Light with your ingame settings.

    Hello, hello!
    This mod seems fantastic, but I'm having issues, since I've turned my shield into a catalyst. is it possible to have different buttons for guarding and for spell casting with this, because it doesn't seem to be working with the guard L1 and skill L2 buttons.
    And what if I decide to turn a two-handed melee weapon into a catalyst as well, is it possible to have a different button for heavy attack and for spell casting too?

      Hi, unfortunately I have no idea what you mean. Turned shield into a catalyst? As in with a mod? And what exactly is the problem?

      Yeah I custom modded a shield into a catalyst.
      Basically the guard uses L1, but the spell-cast also uses L1 in the case of the shield.
      If f I press L1 once it guards and if I double press L1 it casts, which is great.
      BUT if I R1 or SHIFT(dodge roll) and then immediately press L1 it casts a spell instead of guarding.
      I would like to separate the spell cast from the guard if possible, like how you've separated the roll with the sprint.
      Or delay the spell cast activation after an R1 or SHIFT press, so that the guard activates instead.

      I see. I dont think that is possible at all with a script based program such as EMU Light. Either way, its way outside of EMU Light's scope so I am afraid I cant help here.

      Check this in the Advanced settings and EMU Light will work even in Notepad. You will have to manually turn off/on hotkeys when you alt+tab though.

    Why doesn't I switch the magic no matter which number I press? I only release the one that has been selected currently. Moreover, if the Cast or select spell is selected as Select only, there will be no response at all.

      If "Select only" is selected here for Cast or select spell, the magic is not switched and there is no subsequent response. I hope to only help me select the corresponding magic without having to use it. How should it be set up

      I've figured it out. The switch sorcery doesn't match the game. It can be used normally now. That's great.

      You have to match the keys in the right panel either manually or by loading Keys from a savefile.

    I do not understand, I did according to the instructions in the end does not work, I play on the keyboard + mouse through mod engine.

      does not work (it even works in the browser, but not in the game). I did as instructed. Downloaded 2 files (archives), combined them into one, put it in a separate folder, then ran as administrator, clicked the activation button and all. I play on the keyboard + mouse with mods, through mod engine

      You have to set it up. Just clicking "activate" wont do anything. Follow the guide.

      No, its modular. You have to customize all that is needed for each function you want to try.

      That's why I wrote that it doesn't work, it's enough to check the beginning before fully customizing. I have and without mods does not work, there is the most simple instruction, maybe there are pitfalls?

      Set your ingame roll/sprint key to "o". As long as you have nothing bound on shift and spacebar, split sprinting and rolling will work.

      Well, it's not convenient at all, you have to dodge on the spacebar and run on shift.

      This is the biggest selling point of EMU Light. It effectively makes you dodge faster because the game doesnt wait until you release the key, you dodge when you press it. That said, you dont have to use it. You can either disable it entirely or uncheck the "Split roll and Sprint".

      You don't get it, I know it's good, but I don't want to have a roll over on the ‘'o’' button I want to understand why the program doesn't work and have the dodge also be on the space bar and without a delay

      No, I dont understand. You arent supposed to press "o" ever. EMU Light virtually presses it depending on what you are doing with Left Shift and Space.

      What about customizing everything else? I check for example the opening of the inventory on a button that is not used, but it does not work, also with a strong attack.
