Okay this mod totally messed up the following DLC so i just deleted mod file (data) from out folder of dying light but the game keeps telling me my game is modded and everything is still the same did i just fucked up my whole save or is there any way to fix this?
Would it be possible to make it so bypassing a container lock consumes a scrap metal or other resource?
Perhaps even better would be an item you craft that is used to bypass locks and it loses durability with each use. At least then it would feel semi-balanced. I am very tired of lockpicking, but bypassing it altogether seems kind of cheap.
This mod is based on old version. I just manually checked the files and it's missing many "military container" code in the xml file that's why you guys are unable to interact with gre containers. Now I am going to tell you how to make your own mod base on your own game version.
1. Open Data0.pak with 7 zip.(right click on it 7zip -> open archive). 2. Go to data\scripts\inventory and locate containers.loot. 3. right click on containers.loot and click edit. 4. Now replace every "Hard" with "" every "medium" with "" every "easy" with "" and every "imposible" with "" save and close the editor. 5. Update the archive(it's automatic after you close editor just click yes when it asks for permission). Done.
Now you will be able to interact with all GRE containers in "The Following".
You can use the method to remove all the locks from prison dlc also.
For anyone using Notepad++ to do this you can use CTRL+H to bring up the find and replace window and select the "Regular expression" radio button on the bottom. In the "Find what" box use the following:
"([Hh]ard|[Mm]edium|[Ee]asy|[Ii]mpossible)"
Make sure to include the quotes outside the brackets. Finally put "" in the "Replace with" Section. Click "Find Next" a couple of times to make sure it's in there correctly then you can replace all.
Did what you said and it broke the chests in the dlc, nothing opens now. Doors and trunks from police cars open though.
edit: Nevermind, I somehow mixed up the mod and the dyinglightmanager with the main game and even though I deleted both of them and edited the data0.pak, the mod was still applied. Your fix works perfectly, thanks a bunch!
I cant get the mod to work, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong can anyone help? I downloaded it through vortex and it says it's enabled but in game it doesn't work.
I just downloaded Dying Light Definitive Edition 2 days ago with a Steam CD Key and installed this mod (without a mod manager of any kind) and it works perfectly. It was very easy and if you have trouble then just download 7zip for free to be able to extract files, open the Data3.pak file and insert the data folder.
P.S. I currently have installed 2 mods: 1. The PlayStation DS4 icons mod to get PlayStation buttons in the game 2. This mod
Thank god this mod exists. I knew I wasn't the only person who thought lockpicking sucked in this game. It's an unnecessary bullshit, tedious annoyance and there are way too many locked doors/boxes around the world. Its a jarring halt to an otherwise fast paced game. They should have thought about how lockpicking would work in this game instead of ripping off Bethesda's system. The system works better in bethesda games, not this one.

For anybody that may be having trouble finding Data0.pak, it's under Steam\steamapps\common\Dying Light\DW

so the correct expression in notepad++ would be
"([Hh]ard|[Mm]edium|[Ee]asy|[Ii]mposible)"
