The mod doesn't work anymore but you can make the edit yourself very easy. You need 7-zip for this!
Go to Location: :\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\ common \ Dying Light \ DW
Make a copie of "Data0.pak" on your desktop, then right click the file in DW > 7-Zip > open When it opens go data > scripts > inventory and look for "inventory_gen.scr" then right click it > view Now press ctrl + f and look for "CategoryType_Ammo", you should find 4 of these with 3 being Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun. Now edit the "MaxAmmoCount" to a number of your choice. Now don't forget to save with ctrl + S or at the top left data > save. Close the file and press yes to update the archive.
Done!
If you want more Arrows too search for "inventory_special.scr" and right click > view (we are still in data0.pak) Again press ctrl + f and look for "ZZZZ_Bullet_Arrow", "ZZZZ_Bullet_Arrow_Shock", "ZZZZ_Bullet_Arrow_Burning", "ZZZZ_Bullet_Arrow_Explode". Change the "MaxAmmoCount" below each of these to a number of your choosing, save (ctrl + s), close the file and press yes to update the archive.
If you don't know what your doing, don't change any other numbers or the game will crash. If your game crashes delete "Data0.pak" and put your copie in its place and try again.
1. Make a backup of {...} \ Dying Light \ DW \ Data0.pak before editing it.
2. Using 7-Zip Open the Data0.pak located in the aforementioned {...} \ Dying Light \ DW folder. ( leave this file open in the background. We'll be coming back to it shortly. )
3. Navigate to: Data -> Scripts -> Inventory -> Inventory_gen.scr.
4. Drag Inventory_gen.scr to your desktop ( or any other location of your choice ).
5. Using a text-editor open the Inventory_gen.scr file you just extracted (I prefer Notepad++) and search for the string MaxAmmoCount. Each firearm has a section titled this and will contain the number in parenthesis e.g. (60), (90), etc.
6. Change these values to numbers of your choosing. (Note: The HUD does not display an ammo count > 999) but as far as I know, will keep track of values beyond this. Basically this means if you set your MaxAmmoCount value to say, 1000, you'd have to fire 2 rounds before the ammo count would change.
7. Save your changes and drag the modified Inventory_gen.scr back into your Data0.pak ( Data -> Scripts -> Inventory -> ) file. Confirm over-write and / or save if prompted.
8. Now get out there and give those rotting maggot farms a fatal dose of lead poisoning! Hooah!
you know ammo is made up mostly of... metal right? Try, in real life to carry 900 rounds of 9mm or better yet 900 shotgun rounds. It's HEAVY. You wouldn't be able to walk around with just the 9mm without effort let alone scale buildings derp. This is unrealistic even though you implied, in your description that it's more realistic. You're just adding more unrealistic behavior to the game allowing the character to carry even more weight. Nothing "more" realistic about this mod. let's be real.
So the fact that my character can carry hundreds of other items with up to 13 weapons in the vanilla game is just fine. But the second I can carry 999 rounds of pistol ammo the game becomes super unrealistic.
I hope this puts an end to the bickering I see here xD
A single standard detachable M4/M16 style NATO STANAG magazine loaded with the standard 30 rounds of 5.56 NATO ammunition, weighs a pound (approx. 0.45 kg). 180 rounds of 5.56 NATO ammo would be 6 pounds in real life and in game (if the game had a weighting system). Increasing the amount of ammo within reason (300 or something idk) wouldn't add all that much weight, 4 pounds to be exact...
It doesn't weigh as much as you might think, BUT that is entirely caliber dependent. (Obviously carrying a ton of small items will still add up to weigh a lot...) And yeah if you start going bigger than the standard 5.56 NATO ammo then yeah it can really get heavy irl when carrying the same number of rounds of a smaller ammo type. But those larger calibers do not appear in game so they are irrelevant and shouldn't be considered when looking at this game.
All in all, it's a video game... have *YOUR* fun with it the way *YOU* want to. If you want to just bum around blasting s*** with unlimited ammo, then that's fine what's the problem? If you want to have a more realistic gameplay experience where having a sense of weight changes up your gameplay dynamics and style, then hey you can't go wrong with that either. Play whatever way makes you happy.
12g is heavy for sure but 5.56 you can carry 900 rounds easy. That would only be about 25 lbs. Each round is 12.31 grams. 12 ga is going to run 50lbs for 125 rounds for heavy slug. 9mm could easily carry 1000 rounds as that would only be a bout 22lbs. So the only thing is the 12ga rounds that would be over bearing. A person in good shape can easily run with 75lbs on their person.
Jeez fuck. kiddo.. You sounds so pathetic, I'm not gonna emberessing you MORE , I'm gonna just slightly hint you about how retarded you sound - "Try, in real life" and bla bla bla - you, useless zoomer schoolgirl, trying to find REALISTIC mechanics in ZOMBIE related First Person Beat-Em-Up\Slasher game? You reallly retarded or just pretend? Secondary - this is MOD section - players not give a single f()ск about realism or some degenerate sНИ7 when looking for some content here..
Never again try to comment someones work - you sound not just sore, pathetic and retarded, you wasting others time - they try to read some usefull hints, FAQ or else in comments - and finds your idiotic comment. Delete account, kido
Ammo is pretty heavy, but by all means I'm not supporting this guy. Most mods are literally made to take the realism out of games, and dudes talking about realism.
For people getting crash on load, lowering MaxAmmoCount from 999 to 255 seems to fix it. They probably changed ammo count var to a uint8 or something...
Edit : ok nvm I managed to make it work with 999 but I have no clue how lol
for some reason it's not working in my game, is there something I'm doing wrong because this mod will help a lot?
I installed it manually through Vortex just like the others but this one isn't working, so should I do it differently or what might be the problem and if this question seems dumb then my apologies I'm new with installing mods.

Now edit the "MaxAmmoCount" to a number of your choice.
Now don't forget to save with ctrl + S or at the top left data > save.

dipshit.
the people in mods sections are mostly looking for fun not realism.
there you can edit bolts and arrows (including all its types) and SMG max ammo you can carry
