Vortex works with most, but not all mods for DQXIS on Steam. Mods that contain a only .pak files, such as this mod, will work with Vortex, but mods that contain other files, such as Dynamic Lighting Adjustments, will not.
For this game, it is recommended to follow the installation instructions in the mod descriptions instead of using Vortex.
Could you please clarify me one thing? When you say "(Please only download this mod if you own a copy of both DRAGON QUEST® XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age™ - Digital Edition of Light and DRAGON QUEST® XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age™ - Definitive Edition)" do you mean that I need to have installed also the "old" version (DE of Light) of this game? I mean, that I need both the games installed in order to make your Mod working? Or is it enough to own the "old" version even if it isn't installed? (I highly doubt it, but I am asking cause I want to be sure of having correctly understood your words). I would gladly avoid to store extra 30GB for this title. I liked the "old" version a lot, but still 70 GB (totally) is not a joke.
If you follow the instructions listed at the bottom of the mod description exactly, and place the .pak file from inside the downloaded .zip into the correct Paks directory, the mod should be fully installed, and will work with no further configuration required when you next open the game.
If you are still having trouble installing the mod, please ask for support in the discord server linked in the description, or post here.
(Please note that the effect of this mod can be quite subtle on many characters, so if you are not familiar with how they look in DE without the mod, you may not immediately notice the effect)
I think there might be something wrong with the file. I've installed all the other PR mods with no issue, but every time try to unzip this one it tells me that an unexpected error has occurred and that the archive is corrupt. I tried deleting it and redownloading it, to no avail. Any help is appreciated! (P.S. These PR mods are INCREDIBLE, thank you so much!)
Edit: I tested the v.0.0.6 and it extracted perfectly
I am, unfortunately, unable to replicate your issue with the corrupted archive, as are the 1k+ other people who have successfully installed v0.0.7. I have, however, in the past, heard from others having issues extracting the files of some of my other mods. Based on the experience of others, the only suggestions I can make are to try downloading the mod again later, in case there was a temporary issue with the download server, or to try extracting again using another tool, such as 7zip or Windows Explorer. I hope you can get it working successfully!
I'll definitely try downloading again later, like you mention it could just be a server issue. Will also try using a different tool to unzip to see if that helps. Been playing today with the v0.0.6. with no issues. Again thank you so much for these mods, I've actually been holding off my pc playthrough for this project, so I really appreciate all the work that's been done! Thanks for the quick reply, and sorry to be a bother!
There were a couple NPC types that were added (female martial artist and Madame Cherie) -- in both cases they were a "generic" NPC design that were changed to a more unique one. Project Rebuild keeps those unique designs from DE intact.
As mike9k1 states, all NPCs that were added, or significantly changed between the versions are not affected by Project Rebuild, and will keep their Definitive Edition appearance. All NPCs that kept the same design, but had their quality decreased, are replaced with the higher quality versions from the original release.
Unfortunately, due to the size of this mod, it is impractical for me to create and maintain a No_Outlines version.
However, I have now released a new mod, Remove Outlines, which replaces the No_Outlines version of Project Rebuild. This mod removes all the outlines from the game, and is compatible with Project Rebuild Player Character Models and Project Rebuild NPC Character Models. If you wish to play the game with the outlines removed, I highly recommend switching to using the standard version of Project Rebuild, and using the Remove Outlines mod.
hi will you add the animal models ?, no because I started the game again and saw the PC's dog with the top of the head made of three polygons and the tails of the horses as well. however I open a lot of your corrections to the mistake made by square and everyone should install them on the pc
KomodoXeno is claimed to have started on Module 3 (Animals, Mounts, and Monster Models). I don't particularly know what the progress is (and I wouldn't hold my breath, as it could take considerable time). Link may also be interested and (for all I know) could be working on this as well.
Hello, I've just installed this mod. I've always enjoyed using your mods.Thank you.
I had one problem this time. When I installed this mod and used the "NPC Costume Swap Cheat Table" at the same time, I replaced serena's whole body with serenica. Her hairstyle remains the same as serena's long hair.Only when she wears a ring that changes her hairstyle, will she have serenica's hairstyle.I don't know if this is a problem stemming from my environment.

There is also now the NPC Appearance Swap mod, which you may find more intuitive to use.
I just tried it again and this phenomenon did not occur anymore.
I was lucky, but in the end I still don't know why.
I was hoping to use the "NPC Appearance Swap mod".
but unfortunately I couldn't because my DQ XI S is not an English version.
In that case, you can follow the Japanese instructions on the Mod Customization Tools to remove the L10N folder from the pak file.
