Invisible Formal Attire

[Dragon Age Inquisition MOD]

Use subject: Invisible Formal Attire Version 1.1

SUMMARY
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This mod makes the wearable version of the Formal Attire invisible. The
game supplies the PC with 1 wearable version of the Formal Attire during
the quest Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts. Other NPCs who use the armor
during that quest will still show the armor (if you have retexture mods
installed, they should still work)

After the Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts quest, you will obtain a schematic
which allows you to make additional wearable Formal Attires. This is one of
the most powerful Teir 2 armors you can create early in the game (pre-level
17) and can be equiped by any and all NPCs with no restrictions.

By making the wearable Formal Attire invisible, your player and NPCs
can appear to be wearing their home-base casual attire while still
benefiting from the Formal Attires protections. When combined with other
mods that enhance the default home-base casual appearances, this can allow
for a more customized experience.

A. Requirements

Requires a patched version of DAI. If you use an outdated version or have
updates disabled, don't use this mod.

Installing this mod requires the latest version of DAI Mod Manager which can
be downloaded here:

http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/116

B. Initial Install

The 7z archive includes the files:

InvisibleFormalAttire/InvisibleFormalAttire.daimod

Extract the 7zip archive to a staging area. I recommend creating the
folder:

C:/DAIxtract/mods

And extracting it there.

Then run DAIModManager

- The first time you run it, it will ask you for the location of
DAI. Normally it is located at:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\

Once the DAIModManager is running, point the Mod Path at the directory
you extracted the 7zip to

[C:\DAIxtract\mods]

then make sure there is an [X] beside the Official Patch and the mod:

[X] Official Patch
[X] InvisibleFormalAttire

Click the [ Merge ] button.

Browse to your Dragon Age Inquisuion update folder. Typically:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update

And within it, right click the back ground and create the folder "merged"

Double click the new folder to enter. Your path should look like:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\merged\"

Click [ Save ]

It takes a few minutes. When it is finished, you will see the invisible
amor in effect when you start your next game (or load an existing game).

C. Known Issues

There are no known issues at this time.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
II. > > > > UnInstall
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A. Simple

The simple method is to delete the merged folder:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\merged\"

However, this will disable ALL mods you have installed and you will not
be able to load old save games made while the mod was installed.

B. Advanced

If you have other mods, run the DAIModManager, uncheck
InvisibleFormalAttire and recreate your merged folder.

C. Faking it

If this is the only mod you are using and you want to remove ALL mods, but
want to salvage your old save games, the easy thing to do is delete the
Data directory from merged folder:

[DAI_HOME]\Update\merged\Data

Then copy the Data directory from the official patch into your merged
directory:

[DAI_HOME]\Update\Patch\Data => [DAI_HOME]\Update\merged\Data

A. Compatibility

This mod is only tested with the single player campaign. I have no idea
what impact it might have on multiplayer if any. (I would guess all
machines involved would need the same mod set installed, but that is
unconfirmed)

This mod edits the appearance of the formal attire armor. It may not be
compatible with other mods that edit the appearance of the same resource.
No compatibility testing has been done at this time.

B. Technical (For Developers)

How did I make this mod? I downloaded the DAI Modding Tool from here:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzqpBc4MrAMXOEdmTTNxejhUR3M/view

(Requires 64 bit OS and DX11 compatible card)

Opened/Exported the resource:

da3 -> equipment -> appearances -> armors -> itemAppearance : item_app_armor_nude

Then Opened the resoource:

da3 -> equipment -> appearances -> armors -> itemAppearance : item_app_armor_formal_wear

And imported the appearance for the item_app_armor_nude. Note that this
doesn't actually work. It invalidates the appearance. But in the game,
invalid armors are basically not displayed, so it has the same effect as
making the armor invisible.

NOTE: There are two modding tools in development. The other one is
named DAI Tool and can be downloaded here. It has different abilities.
