Were you disappointed when you found out how limited Skyhold's customization options were? I definitely was. So I decided to see what I could do about it.
This is a totally modular recolor of Skyhold's textures.
These textures come in Pale, Dark, and Grunge:
Walls - The stacked stone texture that makes up the majority of Skyhold’s interior and exterior walls.
Wall Accent Stones - The larger stone texture that is scattered randomly across the walls of Skyhold, and makes up a few contrasting accents like chimneys and such.
Stone Trim - The decorative stones that outline most of the castle, including stairs, corners, pillars, windows, etc.
Floors - The stone tile that makes up the majority of Skyhold’s interior and exterior floors.
**Style note - “Pale" looks like whitewashed grey stone, whereas "Dark" looks more like painted stone and is much more solid. "Grunge” is a dirty/soot-stained look. It’s very high contrast and busy, and can be distracting and overwhelming in large quantities. I recommend "Grunge" be used sparingly, unless super dirty-looking is your aesthetic.
Other textures included:
Roofs - This is the “slate” tile texture used on Skyhold’s roofs. Comes in Pale, Red, Blue, and Black. (The Red and Blue textures are very saturated but don’t worry, they don’t look like that once all the lighting and shaders are on them. See screenshots.)
Wood - Two textures are included in this mod, the wood plank flooring and the wood beams. Comes in Pale, Cherry, Rich, and Dark.
Install only ONE color for each item at a time! Mix and match colors and/or leave some textures vanilla to get whatever look suits you best. (Images show just a few possible combinations.) Combine this with my Faction Recolors mod for thousands of possible looks.
I would love to see screenshots of your designs!!!
I will consider taking requests for other color options, but I make no promises.
Disclaimers: This mod will conflict with any other mod that affects Skyhold's textures. I've never seen another one, but that doesn't mean there isn't one floating around somewhere. A full list of the textures is included in the Readme under Documentation, in case you need to check or you want to try your hand at extracting and editing these textures yourself.
I have not tested these retextures outside of Skyhold yet, so I don't know where else in the game they might show up. I would guess they might affect Haven, Redcliffe Castle, Therinfal Redoubt, Caer Bronach, the buildings in the Hinterlands, etc., but I don't know for sure. If I get around to testing them I will edit this with notes.
I do not know if these mods are DLC-compatible, and would appreciate if someone could let me know, if they happen to test it.
My other mods: Faction Recolors - Recolors of the Inquisition heraldry, decor, furniture, and soldier uniforms in several different color schemes. Faction Wardrobe for All - Retextures of the Inquisitor's armors, arms, legs, formalwear and underarmors to match Faction Recolors.
