If you like this mod and end up using it in-game, feel free to submit your screenshots to the mod page! It makes me so happy seeing her in y'all's games <3
Thank you so much!!! It always bothered me how Bioware whitewashed Isabela and one of the most popular mods for her is making her white which is messed up. You did a great job on this mod and i can't imagine playing without it now!!
I'm so happy you like it!! Yeah, unfortunately BW has a pretty bad habit, where the more important to the story a character is the lighter their skin gets/the more European their features become. (Merrill also has a bad case of it, and Alistair got the treatment twice over, though thankfully there are plenty of wonderful mods to help rectify those two!). I figured Isabela could use a little more love <3
I love this morph for Isabela, but unfortunately it doesn't actually seems to be fully compatible with Isabela's Dreads; it will load the hair, but there is noticeable gaping between the forehead and the hair, in a way that you don't get with, say, Darker-Skinned Isabela. It also partially hides the nose piercing from Isabela's Dreads Updo, which makes me think the bottom of the nose might be a bit lower than the original (it becomes a little pinch between the nostrils rather than a ring, you can even see it in your Updo screenshot example).
From certain angles it's fine, but in cutscenes it gets considerably more noticeable, which is a shame because it's where this mod's beauty really shines through! Would it be possible to tweak this mod for a closer match to things like the dreads hairline?
Hello! First of all, thank you the love on my head morph <3
Secondly, unfortunately, I don't think that would be possible :( I made her head using DA2 Character Creator, and as far as I know there is no simple way to import modded hairstyles into the creator (unless it can be done through Blender, in which case it's above my skill level 😅). This means that when I'm working on her head, I'm using a bald model and cannot see how it would fit with non-vanilla hairs. Her facial structure is indeed quite different; her whole face is much lower on her head and her nose has been completely redone. This is by design, as I was unsatisfied with Isabela's vanilla facial structure. To fit this head to a modded hairstyle would involve a huge amount of trial and error, and I'm not in a place where I have the ability to do that unfortunately 😅
If you'd still like a different look for Isabela that uses "Isabela's Dreads" while minimizing clipping, might I recommend "Realistic Original DA2 Isabela" by Hawkethority? That mod has a lot of similar features to my mod, and I believe is used for the Updo example screenshots on "Isabela's Dreads" (albeit with an edited complexion). It was also the inspiration for this mod, so I'd highly recommend it! 😊
I'm always hesitent to try any mods that change character's faces- it confuses my brain when they look different to how I expect. But I am so glad I tried this! Isabela looks phenomenal. Love it. Thank you for your hard work and for sharing it!
Kind of makes me a bit sad though, because I've tried to make my Hawkes look- well, kind of like they could be related to this version of her, in their features. Never managed anything like it (and the hair mod options are lacking too, especially for male Hawkes.) So I have a bit of... face envy for my Hawkes. But definitely worth it!
Ahh I'm glad you like it, thank you so much for the kind words!!
If you're interested in creating a more unique Hawke, I highly recommend you check out The Dragon Age 2 Character Creator, the tool I used to create this headmorph for Isabela! It's a modified version of the toolset from DAO (so you'll need to download too that if you don't have it) to allow for the editing of DA2 meshes, and in the articles section of that mod there is a tutorial on creating custom .mop files for all your Hawke needs :)
Thank you, I have considered it. I find it... a bit overwhelming to start getting into it, and I tried using the toolset to create a custom head for DAO and couldn't even get that to work how I wanted it. But I might try another foray into it and see how I get on!
I've been playing with this version for a day now and something about her in your morph is... I guess just Isabela enough that my brain latched right onto her as still being her, not a moment of confusion. Which is really unusual for me (usually I struggle even with hair change mods that are similar to the original), so... I don't know what it is, but not only does it look great but it's keeping my brain happy! So: I am grateful.
Ah, understandable, it can be a bit much, especially if you have a lot of cc installed like complexions and all that. I wish you luck if you ever do decide to give it a try in the future, and if it's for DAO feel free to shoot me a message and I might be able to help you (or hopefully direct you to someone who can) :)
As for Isabela, it makes me so so happy to hear you say that <3 I definitely wanted to keep her recognizable and lore friendly even while changing her features, and so that means a lot to me that you still read her as "Isabela". I am so happy that you're enjoying it, and that your brain is happy as well <3
You're just great! This is a wonderful mod, thank you! I don't really like Isabela, but with your mod, she has become more pleasant for me at least outwardly. I would like to see a similar morph for DaO one day, but these are all dreams.
Thank you very much! I'm glad you like it even if you're not a fan of her character :) Maybe I'll kick around with DAO and see what I can do, bc the toolset in that game is much easier to use imo. I'll look into it, though I can't promise anything :)
