Okay so if i reinstalled the game and copied the entire contents of override folder and generally the whole folder from documents, will the mod still work or do i have to reinstall it?
Download the 'manual' version of the mod (under 'optional files') and install that instead. Keep the PDF from the installer version, and use that as a guide for choosing which options to install from the manual download.
=============== To install the manual version of DA Redesigned:
Download 'Dragon Age Redesigned Manual Version 1.0' from the 'Optional' files area. (Look for Dragon Age Redesigned Manual Version 1.0, under 'Optional'. I recommend keeping the PDF document from the installer download, since that explains the various options and is not included in the manual install download.)
Unzip that archive.
Move or copy the Dracomies Textures folder into the game's override folder(Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override). Dracomies Textures must be installed, as omitting that component will result in issues with the morph files, like shiny silver/grey skins and milky white eyes.)
To use one of the general NPC replacer morph options, choose one of the three folders inside the 'Versions (Lore, Aesthetics, Recommended)' folder, and copy or move it to the override folder.
If either the 'Aesthetics' or 'Recommended' options were installed in the previous step, then download and install the tucked hair mod, which is required by those non-companion NPC morphs. (See below for a step-by-step on installing tucked hair.)
If you want to use DAR companion replacer morphs, download and install any required mods for them. Copy or move the folders for your preferred companion morphs into the override folder. (There are either documents or image files in the folders with the companion morphs, that list any additional requirements.
-------- Some additional, general information on installing mods for DAO:
Installing cosmetic mods for Dragon Age (This is mostly relevant for mods that affect the player character's appearance; a merged chargenmorphcfg.xml file is not needed for NPC cosmetic changes.)
-------- Step-by-step instructions for installing tmp7704's tucked hair:
Unzip the downloaded archive (tuckedhair.zip). If you just want the hairs required for DA Redesigned, then unzip the tucked_hair.zip archive, and put that in your override folder. You don't need the earring hairs or the chargenmorphcfg.xml for the NPC morphs.
If you want to use the basic 'tucked hair' styles for your player character, then you'll need to also install the chargenmorphcfg.xml file. If you are using any other cosmetic mods in chargen, you'll need to merge the chargenmorphcfg.xml files for all those mods... there can only be one chargenmorphcfg.xml file in override.
If you want the earring hairs (for your player character), also place that unzipped folder in override. The earring styles aren't included in the included chargenmorphcfg.xml. You can find my mergable chargen xml for both the tucked hair and earring hair styles elsewhere on the Nexus: tucked hair chargenmorphcfg (including earring styles); there may be other similar files from other modders. Again, if you are using any other mods for chargen, then the combined tucked + earring hair xml should be merged with the other cosmetic XMLs.
If you read back through all of the comments, at some point Dracomies posted that the editable MRH (toolset) versions of the morphs no longer exist.
Some elements of exported MOR files can easily be edited with pyGFF (or the toolset) - things like tints and hairstyles, for example. Textures are more difficult to change, since you can only edit data strings... without the WYSIWYG interface, there's no way to assess things like texture blends (for skins) or iris size (for eyes).
Amazing mod. Thank you for all your time and replies!!
I'm having some trouble removing the Zevran mode from my override folder. I've ensured that the uninstaller has been run and the file is gone from override, yet the character model remains the same.
If a character still uses the .mor from this mod, it means the file is still loaded by the game, as in it wasn't uninstalled. When it comes to .mor files, if they're named exactly like the .mor in a character's .utc, the character's look will be updated accordingly, e.g. after uninstalling the modded .mor, it will revert back to the vanilla.
My suggestion is to use the manual version - there won't be any problem with uninstalling if you put the mod folder into the override manually. First, you know exactly which files you have there, and second, you can remove/replace files at any moment you need.
My Windows 11 won't open the "Dragon Age Redesigned Version 7.3c.exe" from the "Dragon Age Redesigne (contains Dracomies True Textures" folder. Is there way to activate that .exe file or is the only option Manual installation?
Definitely use the manual version - you actually see what you install and can easily manage the files in the override. The .exe can be outdated for the latest operating systems.
would really love some assistance with this mod. i am having difficulty loading morrigan's hair using dragon age redesigned. from what i can see, i've installed dracomies true textures first and i chose recommended settings. according to instructions, this would lead one to need to download tucked hair mod. i also have that folder in my override. Over on the moddb page, they state its missing the chargen xml. however, i learned that those xml's apparently only affects the character creation tool. so i arguably don't need this file. or do i? which brings me to my question - how can i restore morrigan's hair in game without uninstalling all the redesigned files and redoing the process for lore (which doesn't require the tucked hair mod)? i don't have any mods that change heads or hair aside from redesigned and tucked hair.
i initially thought deleting the tucked hair mod or uninstalling the morrigan.exe file would solve this, but when i reviewed the mod's pdf, i remembered that you have to choose a mode. and since i chose recommended it likely installed files that need tucked hair mod. i'd like to not have to uninstall everything and opt for the lore.exe settings to not require tucked hair mod as i feel that'd essentially defeat the purpose of this mod.
i also use the natural bodies, busty elf female & curvaceous attire - clothing - armor mods, but i don't believe any of those should have any issues with morrigan's hair. i also have morrigan sacred ashes trailer robes and this one is loading properly.
any insight or assistance in restoring her hair would be greatly appreciated.
1. You do not need a merged chargenmorphcfg.xml file for tucked hair, if you are only installing that mod for use as an NPC morph replacer. (if you did want to install tucked hair for player character creation, there is an XML file here, that also includes the hairstyles with earrings.) I would like to note that the hairstyles from tucked hair are stylistically very close to the default BioWare styles, as theey are either edits of the default hairs or hairs ported from DA2.
2. None of the DA Redesigned morphs for Morrigan use a hairstyle from tucked hair, so whether you have that requirement installed or not will have no bearing on her not working. Most of the DA Redesigned Morrigans use her original BioWare hair, though some use hairstyles that are included with DAR (and installed by the installer) and some use hair from More Hairstyles... so the solution to your issue would depend on what version of Morrigan you installed. There should be an infographic for each morph with any addition requirements, but I'll put them here, in case you no longer have those images from the download or one was missing:
Morrigan Lore Version 1: default BioWare hair (hf_har_mora_0) Morrigan Lore Version 2: default BioWare hair (hf_har_mora_0) Morrigan Lore Version 3: default BioWare hair (hf_har_mora_0) Morrigan Version 15: default BioWare hair (hf_har_mora_0) Morrigan Version 15 v.2: alternate hair (hf_har_jx001_0, from either 'Don't Worry be Hairy' or 'More Hairstyles'); included with DAR and installed with the morph (no additional mod needed) Morrigan Lady of the Forest: alternate hair (hf_har_lofc_0) from 'More Hairstyles'; not included in DAR. Morrigan Lisa Banas: alternate hair (hf_har_jx002_0) from 'More Hairstyles'; not included in DAR. Morrigan Lore Version 3 black: default BioWare hair (hf_har_mora_0) Morrigan True Lore Version: : default BioWare hair (hf_har_mora_0)
I appreciate the swift feedback and reply. Unfortunately, i do not remember which of those various morrigan versions i installed at the time, only that i used the recommended settings. They all use the same file name so its impossible for me to know.
The 'recommended' settings does not install a morph for Morrigan (or any companion) so the version of the main part of the mod is irrelevant.
And yes, all the versions of a replacer morph for an NPC will have the same name... that's the only way the game will use the files.
The only advice I can offer is to remove any and all versions of hf_genfl_morrigan.mor from your override. Then chose one to reinstall, and using the list of versions I posted, determine what additional requirement that version of hf_genfl_morrigan.mor has, and install that requirement along with your preferred version.
just wanted to come back and take the time to thank you again for your guidance. i deleted the file you indicated & used the morrigan uninstaller in the override folder, then per the instructions, deleted the uninstaller for a "clean uninstall." Then i used the DAO Redesigned.exe to install the lore version 2 and when i loaded up a test save file right before you meet her the first time, her hair was restored. Cheers!
If you also face the issue, that Nan in the Kitchen at Castle Cousland looks like the guy from those STONK memes (no face texture, silverish shimmering abomination with weird shadows), go and locate the "hf_bhn100_cook.mor" file in your docs/bioware/dragon age/packages/core/override folder and manually remove it.
A missing, required texture will result in a silvery or grey appearance. All three versions of the 'Nan' morph (Aesthetics. Lore, Recommended) use the same textures. One is included in Dracomies True Textures, which is a hard requirement for DA Redesigned. The secondary/blend texture is a default BioWare texture.
To fix the issue, install Dracomies True Textures.
Did you check your override for a conflicting hf_bhn100_cook.mor file?
I've used DA Redesigned for over a decade (usually the Recommended install, occasionally the Lore version) and never had an issue with any of the morph textures not be correctly applied... and yours is the first report I can recall ever seeing of that issue. (Nexus has removed the search function from mod comments, else I'd check to confirm that recollection.)
edited to add that depending on what version of the morphs is installed (Lore, Aesthetics, Reecommended), these are the files that will be used for Nan. As you can see, none of them have any issue with missing textures:
I found the issue and it’s a wild one. Turns out my AMD GPU and its software (Adrenaline) were interfering with the game. I applied custom settings to override how the GPU and CPU are addressing the game itself, but this seemed to end up creating bad references? Or at least an error that caused my problem. Once I turned off some of those tweaks, everything worked fine and Nan looked as intended. Adrenaline notes that some settings can create unpredictable outcomes with older games. Took me a while to remind myself I messed with THESE... ^^;
So, the Mod works as intended - it's just an insane enduser, as usual :D

Is there somewhere the toolset project/files are shared? Or are we able to edit the mod directly? I just got my toolset setup
