About this mod

This is an improvement upon my mod "Fancier Rugs" adding more options and variety for players to replace vanilla blue, green and red rugs with more interesting textures.

Description:

As per my original mod "Fancier Rugs", the intent was to replace the vanilla blue, green and red rugs with more visually appealing textures. I spent some time making entirely new normal maps and specular maps instead of patching together something from the base game, as well as including some more new "medieval" looking options which may be more appealing. Rugs now have appropriate texture to correspond with their materials, i.e. stitching, embroidery, threads, velvet pile as well as sheen where appropriate, like the velvet rugs and all the rug borders. If you liked the rugs from the previous version, they are included here but I would still recommend using these instead because they have been improved considerably in my opinion. I also included improved vanilla textures if you want to mix and match or don't like any of my options - I made new normal maps and specular maps (all 1K size) for these vanilla upgrades and also an entirely new border for the green rug as I just was never that fond of the vanilla one. All the diffuse textures are 2K. I had fun making these and hope you enjoy them!

Important Note:

There are now 7 design options per rug colour. The mod is structured in such a way that the the subfolders of "Blue Rug", "Green Rug" and "Red Rug" contain their own folders, each one corresponding to 1 of the 7 designs. Only keep the folder of the design you want to appear in game since you can only have 1 at a time; delete the ones you don't want. I have uploaded a picture of each rug to help you decide. The main folder contains 3 textures for the rug borders which are used by all the subfolder designs - don't remove these! Please note that I use a reshade which I can't play without and this is what is reflected in the pics; however I made sure they all looked good in vanilla as well. If anything is unclear, please post a comment.

Known Issue:

The large rugs all work perfectly but the base game maps the textures to the rug models very strangely so it will take pieces from the somewhere inside the rug and place it along the outer border edges on some smaller rugs; I have no idea why it works that way but you may notice a few bits of odd colour along the very edges of some smaller rugs - not all since the way they are mapped varies a lot as well. I have uploaded a picture indicating this. It's hardly noticeable especially on the darker less shinier rugs and something I can live with since I still personally prefer these enhancements over vanilla. If you notice chunks of rug missing in certain areas, that is not from my mod - the base game rug models actually weren't placed or created properly in the first place!

Installation:

To install simply place the extracted folder into your override folder, making sure it follows last alphabetically in case you have other retexture mods which alter the same textures - if you are uncertain rename the folder by placing a "z" in front of the name. Delete the appropriate subfolder of the rugs you don't want to keep from the "Red Rug", "Blue Rug" or "Green Rug" folders. To uninstall, simply delete the folder from your override directory.

Update:

25.09.2023
I noticed a horrible discrepancy between the red rug end borders and the side borders which doesn't make much sense since I treated them the same way. Anyway I tweaked the textures of the rug end borders until they matched. I've since discovered that this was an issue in the base game as well so it's likely badly mapped in the first place. Let me know in the comments if you notice any other such discrepancies. I uploaded V1.1 which includes this fix. Otherwise under the optional files there is a fix which can be added to V1.0 - just extract the files and place them in the Fancier Rugs root folder and replace the 2 files.

Included an optional file for an improvement to the "green medieval crowns" rug should you like that option. Just replace the file in the folder with this one located in the "Medieval Crowns" subfolder of the "Green Rug" folder.

I think the assets I used were from the base game but they may have been upscaled by NewActionPotential for AP Neural Enhanced Textures mod - if that is the case, thank you very much! If I'm mistaken or you know where the base textures come from, then please let me know so I can give the credit where it is due.
