May I suggest an alternative - that goes exactly the oppposite direction? :-) See commanderstrawberry's new Surana mage robe model - there's a leather corset there which actually seems to be able to protect the bosom, not make it stand out... ;-) Actually, now I see you did it yourself at one point, too! Could you make a version of this where you in fact cover the entire breast area with the leather parts you have removed in this version? I tried myself here just now, and it seems to work... But I am SOOOOO lousy at painting, and I have no 3D modelling program, so my retexturing is haphazard at best; directly awful at worst. ;-) (it looks a bit like a 3 year old high on sugar who is given a marker pen...) And while you are at it, why not add a bit of flare to the mage robe? :-)
My god... THANK YOU SO MUCH! I have always despised those damned patches, and I'm not sure how I managed to miss this mod when I initially played DAO. For anyone who loves this mod, I also heavily recommend Neutral Female Armour, which gets rid of the boob plates.
It's odd; in general, when it comes to the representation of women, Bioware has always been one of the better devs. However, in their earlier games, they had the horrible habit of making female characters look as though they had watermelons stuffed down their shirts, especially where DAO is concerned. DA 2 is somewhat improved, at least, and those NPCs that have more revealing outfits (Isabella) also have personalities that fit their clothing, as well as generally better proportioned bodies.
Can you imagine how different things might be if dev studios made a point of having WOMEN design female outfits and armours?
Anyway, rant over… I just really appreciate mods like this, so cheers!
Thank you, I hope you enjoy it! I'm actually giving this a small make over, cleaning things up a little and making a specular map, so there will likely be another update sometime soon.
If you haven't found it yet, there is a mesh edit I love to use of the chasind and tevinter robes called Hooded enchanter mesh here: https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/5592 by commanderstrawberry. It uses KittenTails retexture and just looks amazing.
I never knew this mod existed before the recent update! would you be willing to make a version that gets rid of the line on top of the boobs so the upper part of the robe looks basically like a one-color block vest?
I could remove the gold line for sure, but it is lining the edge of a corset shaped part of the mesh which stands out from the rest. Even if its the exact same colour there will be shadows made by the overhang of that part of the mesh.
It's been a very long time since I made this mod, but I will look it over!
Edit: Ok, I've uploaded a quick new version that shouldn't tint the white parts with skin tones anymore. Hopefully I haven't messed anything else up. It's been so long since I modded this game. XD Thanks for letting me know about this problem and I hope you enjoy!
i had downloaded this a long time ago and forgot to say thank you. then my comp crashed and wiped all the mods i had lol and now i'm getting them all back. i just wanted to say thank you for this. this makes a big difference. always hated the damn boob window/patches. looked so silly and stupid. this makes the robes look way better.
This mod makes more of a difference than I could've known. I absolutely love it, haha. I just started playing Dragon Age II as a mage though, and not having this mod (for the second game) is killing me. Thanks so much for this - it's perfect.
Any chance you could remove the patches from the robe textures used on Improved Atmosphere? The textures are really pretty but the boob patches aren't removed with your mod.
