    Frequently Asked Questions
    Where are my characters?
D2 stores your saved game files for the unmodded installation in “%UserProfile%\Saved Games\Diablo II Resurrected” while your saved game files for the D2RMM mod go in “%UserProfile%\Saved Games\Diablo II Resurrected\mods\D2RMM”. If you want to use your saved game files from vanilla with D2RMM, just copy all the files in the former into the latter.

Can I play online with mods?
Technically, some mods will work online. Most mods will not. It is uncertain what Blizzard's stance is, but I wouldn't be surprised if they banned for it. This applies to all D2 mods, not just D2RMM.

    Can I uninstall mods?
Sure! Just remember to first remove anything that the mod added from your character / stash / mercenary or you may not be able to load your save.

Can I combine D2RMM mods with non-D2RMM mods?
Yes, but with the huge caveat that non-D2RMM mods cannot be merged cleanly (which is why D2RMM exists in the first place), so you do so at your own risk. Simply put the mod's "data" directory into a mod directory in D2RMM's mods directory (e.g. "<D2RMM>\mods\MyLegacyMod\data\") and D2RMM will detect the mod.

The game just updated! What do I do?
Just open up D2RMM and hit "Install Mods". D2RMM will use the newest game files and install the mods on top of that. Most of the time, D2RMM mods themselves do not need to be modified for new patches.

How do I run the game with "-direct -txt" instead of "-mod D2RMM"!
First, you need to extract all of the game's data to the /data/ directory using CascView (as if you were going to use "-direct -txt" without D2RMM). Then, use the "Use Direct Mode" option in D2RMM's settings and D2RMM will output the generated files into the /data/ directory instead of into the /mods/D2RMM/ directory. Now you can play the game using "-direct -txt".

    Common Issues
"You have not been online in the last 30 days. Please start the game while online to check for any login agreements."
This happens because Blizzard requires players of Diablo II: Resurrected to connect to Battle.net at least once every thirty days. Diablo II: Resurrected will start in offline mode if you use mods, however, and will thus not connect to Battle.net.

Solution: All you have to do is start the game once using the Blizzard launcher (without using mods) and let it connect. Then you can quit the game and start it with mods.

    "Failed to open CASC storage"
This means that D2RMM was unable to open the CASC storage archive that stores D2R's game files. This can happen due to a wide variety of reasons. The most common are either that D2RMM doesn't have permissions to access those files (running D2RMM as administrator is the simplest solution), or that the files themselves are corrupt in some way (a game reinstall is the simplest solution).

Debugging: You can debug this issue by opening D2R's CASC archive with CascView, as this can surface helpful error messages to let you know what's going on. If CascView works, but D2RMM does not, please post here for help, and include as much detail as you can (e.g. screenshots of CascView).

Workaround: You can extract the game data manually with CascView (though that's likely to run into the same issue), and set "Game Data Source" to "Pre-Extracted Data" instead of "Casc Archive" in D2RMM's Settings tab.

"Failed to open file in CASC storage"
This means that D2RMM was unable to extract some specific vanilla D2R file that the mod requested. It could be an issue with the mod, but it is much more likely to be an issue with your D2R installation. Reinstalling the game is usually the simplest fix.

Debugging: You can debug this issue by opening the specific file mentioned in the error message with CascView, as this can surface helpful error messages to let you know what's going on.

Workaround: You can extract the game data manually with CascView (though that's likely to run into the same issue), and set "Game Data Source" to "Pre-Extracted Data" instead of "Casc Archive" in D2RMM's Settings tab.

Game crashes after "Connecting to Battle.net" or when loading game
This usually means that there is incompatibility between the game's data and your save data. For example, you could install the "Stackable Runes" mod, find some stackable runes, put them into your stash, then uninstall the mod and receive this error (because the game has no idea what those items are any more).

Debugging: Try (backing up and) removing your save files, one by one, until you find the culprit. Try to re-install any mods you may have recently uninstalled.

    Asking for Help
If you are having issues with your setup, you can post in the comments section to ask for help. Please make sure to include your logs (you can find them in "d2rmm.log" in D2RMM's directory) uploaded to a file sharing service of your choosing (for example, pastebin.com).

Odd issue, but I installed four mods yesterday, and they do not show up anymore in the D2Rmm interface.  They do appear to be applied correctly in-game.  All were downloaded using the D2Rmm download link directly.  I downloaded one more today, and IT shows up, and now all 5 mods appear to work correctly, just do not show up anymore in D2Rmm.

Try clicking "Refresh Mod List". It may have failed to scan the directory for one reason or another.

If that doesn't work, please see the "Asking for Help" section of the FAQ for how to get additional help (i.e. include logs).

Hi, I have used the mod manager for a couple of days. But all my characters have like crazy moving speed when I start the game with the mod manager and the video becomes kind of jerky. I have no improved movement mod installed and even have all mods removed but still the same effect.

The mod manager doesn't do anything to game files by itself. Mods provide instructions of what to do. Check your mods, check your generated data directory, etc...

I was playing normally and the game suddenly closed by itself. Now, every time I try to launch it, it closes as soon as it says 'connecting to Battle.net'. I uninstalled and reinstalled it, but it's still happening. How can I fix this? https://pastebin.com/V5v5YJvk
