What would it take to bring this mod back again. I'm not joking. Whilst the big update brought some neat gadgets to the steamers they are once again overly simplified not living up to their nature and glory.

      Totally agree.
I really loved the mechanic of firing up the engine, not adding too much coal, optimising fire temperatue, coaxing it do life.
Now its just, Coal, Lighter, Fire, Go.

Is there any potential update to this mod or will it be now defunct? I much appreciated this mods handling of the SH282 compared even to the new update. Many thanks.

does this mod only affect the sh282 or will it affect other steam locos added using CCL? I'm wondering if there are any conflicts or anything

For anyone wondering how much of an improvement this mod makes to the SH282's hauling ability, I just hauled a 600m, 1428T (1278T car tonnage once you subtract the loco and tender masses, and thus well over the base game SH282's limit) train from Harbour to Foods Factory, which means very nasty positive grades (as much as +2.4% at points on the climb out of the Harbour) with very little issue; never once worried about the train mass bringing me to a stop or needing to stop to regain boiler pressure. This mod makes the SH282 not only an absolute beast, but just super fun to operate. A must have!

YOU, my friend, just sold me on the mod. I always felt like the vanilla steamer was weaker than it should be.

Anyone have any idea around the following error?

I get this when loading into the game after installing this mod and this shows up in the log in Mod Manager.

Any help much appreciated as I'm really wanting to get this mod working; I have tried uninstalling the game from Unity Mod Manager and also uninstalling the mod and reinstalling. Still the same error.

    Cheers

Is there a way you could make this work better with the 'Multiple-Unit Steam' mod?  The automatic stoker doesn't work on MU'd steam engines when 'double heading' with it and you have to either shovel manually or put up with your second engine's firebox becoming depleted and said engine suffering a steam failure from its fire going out.

Could be a bug or something I did wrong, hope to get a reply form the author or someone who had and fixed this issue.

Every SH-282 train has 9 bar boiler pressure, even if I haven't used it and this doesn't seem to be intended, how do I fix that?
Also, it seems impossible (or at least very hard) to run out of steam pressure, is this intended?  I never seemed to be under 8.5 or above 13 no matter what I did.

you can deactivate this in mod setting.
I personally turned it off and started it myself. It's more fun. It just takes a little time.

Starting a steamer from cold can take 30+ minutes with the mod, so by default all steamers are pre-fired by the caretaker crew to 10 bar. The safety valves open at 14 bar, and the more realistic boiler simulation means that as pressure drops, the boiling point also drops, which increases steam production. In general this means pressures are much more stable than vanilla, but it's certainly still possible to run out of steam. All of these settings are adjustable if you prefer to steam up your locomotive from cold.

Having the opposite issue currently, the steamer starts cold, but I'd like it to start pre-pressurized. The boiler start pressure is set to 10 in the settings, but even relaunching the mod and game has no effect.

Boiler pressure is set when the steam is spawned. Any locomotives spawned before the mod is installed are not affected.

This mod is absolutely fabulous. Driving a steamer is now an art as it should be.

I'd like to have a request however. What is missing from the full experience right now are the cylinder cocks (the valve labelled "steam dump" in vanilla game). IRL they're used to remove condensated water created when the steam remaining in cylinders cools after a prolonged stop. If you don't do it, a water hammer can break the cylinder open from inside and you're as good as fired. Would it be possible to add (as an option of course) simulation of these consequences, i.e if you stop for longer than, say, 1 minute and start without opening CCs the engine will wear extremely quickly, and the longer you stop for, the more you have to open the cocks or keep them open longer?
