Great explanation about lore drop chances. Since I really love the idea of your mod, I want to ask you please to make a version of the mod (as optional file) that has only drop chances and removes restrictions on covenant miracles and items - because as you said "Joining a Covenant gives you *all* the possible covenant items" indeed makes that "Since you no longer need to advance in the covenant giving associated items is kind of irrelevant". But I don't mind to farm a little (with 25% chance you have set it should be nice) to get the rewards. Also, love the idea of removing the requirement of offering Gwyn's soul to receive Sunlight Spear (so you can use it only in NG+), so if you can make it that you receive it at 30 Medals it would be really awesome. I'll look into it. While possible i think changing covenant item amounts to get rewards would require modifying a bit more of the game files, thus increasing the chances it's incompatible with other mods, but more choice is always nice i suppose.
Uploaded the alternate version. Give it a spin and let me know if there were any mistakes. I do recommend looking up how to do a save backup and doing one before installing the mod just in case, that way if there were any fails i can fix it and we can retry later.
Awesome, thank you. But, looks like alternate version will conflict with "Better Bonfires (Warp to ANY bonfire)" mod (changes same scripts), which I use - so I can't use it. After considering this, and re-reading what your original mod version does, I think I will use it as is (it is awesome as is, and even if Sunlight Spear is given on join, you still need 50 FTH to use it, so all good). Thank you for trying to make alternate version, kudos to you, but I didn't know it will be conflicting with the main mod I use - so it's all good, I'll use the main version.
Also, on the topic of offline covenants - there is a Forest Hunter Covenant, that gives only useless (for offline) online summoning ring - Cat Covenant Ring, while, for 3 summons online will give Ring of Fog, which is pretty useful from its description - consider adding that the Ring of Fog is given as you join Forest Hunter Covenant, on pair with Cat Covenant Ring.
Yeah, it's something like this which i feared. Both mods modify events and talk scripts ("using" a bonfire and "praying at the sunlight altar" at the mechanics level are actually talking to an invisible npc standing there) so that's why i expected this version of the mod to conflict with others. The other changes you mentioned should be much simpler, i'll make another version with that instead. No worries.
I just uploaded the latest version (1.4) with the Ring of Fog added as an item given along with the Cat Covenant Ring. I actually missed that when making the original mod, thanks for pointing it out.
If you go online with it installed yes, most likely. As it doesn't add any special items or effects it should be fine if you just uninstall it before going online, but use at your own risk. There's a reason i called it "Offline" covenants though. To uninstall just use the backup you should've created of your param files to overwrite the game files back to their original. If using Steam you can also just delete the param folder and use the `Verify integrity of game files` option to restore the original game files.

There's a reason i called it "Offline" covenants though.
To uninstall just use the backup you should've created of your param files to overwrite the game files back to their original. If using Steam you can also just delete the param folder and use the `Verify integrity of game files` option to restore the original game files.
