   How can I get all the new content quickly?
   
   If you'd like to access all the equipment quickly, you can use an in-game Cheat Code at the Firelink Handmaid by performing the "Point Forward > Point Down > Bow" gestures in front of her. 
   In order to gain souls to level up or buy these items, perform the previous gestures and then "Look Skyward".

   Why does my FPS dip or why is the lightning different?
   
   Ashes experiments with changing the visuals in all areas. You can disable and change this if you're uncomfortable with it or if it causes bugs.
   To do this go to \AshesLauncher\Ashes\GraphicPresets and click on Enable Vanilla.cmd. 
   
   - Fidelity is for highest quality and needs to have shadows enabled in-game.
   - Performance is the same as fidelity but prioritizes performance and FPS
   - Vanilla is the lowest setting and focuses on vanilla lightning. 
   
   
   Why does the launcher sometimes not work for updates?
   
   There's the legacy support of an update and a launcher support.
   
   The legacy support version does NOT work with the launcher, you simply unpack the files and launch the game according the _readme instructions.
   This version is much smaller in filesize because it doesn't come with a .git folder. 
   
   The launcher support version does work with the launcher.
   This version will automatically update when accompanied with the launcher if new versions are available. 
   You need to download this version to also get rid of the zlib error you might get with the launcher.

   Damn, I had some expectations on this mod. Sadly, legacy version doesn't boot up on Linux (and the launcher one has a ridiculous download speed, so I gave up after 1,5 hours of waiting and getting only 13%). 
   It's strange, since vanilla, Cinders and Hollow Overhaul work just fine. I wonder why only this mod has these issues, lol.
   
   Anyway, good luck with working on this mod!
   It seems like this is the only "Definitive Edition" mod, since Cinders is more of a free roam mod, Convergence is stupid and Hollow Overhaul is bugged and rushed.
   
   I'll definitely come back to this one when I get a Windows PC instead of Steam Deck.

      Hey, thanks for the feedback and kind words! Sorry to hear about the issues. The launcher usually downloads in ~30 mins for most users, since it pulls directly from GitHub. Maybe there was throttling or a connection hiccup?
      
      Also, we do have a Steam Deck install guide on our Discord: Steam Deck Setup Guide.
      We also have several Linux users active in #tech-support if you need help.
      
      Also, if GitHub gives you trouble again, I’m sure someone would be happy to upload their mod folder to Google Drive for you.

      Thanks for the question. This is already present. On our server we have a CE table to provides this.
      It's not just our table that can do this, though. Any classic DS3 CE table allows you to change your character's name.

   The launcher that i installed from the github link won't work at all, as after i installed the mod overnight, and came back, and tried to start the launcher once more, it never fails to stop responding the moment the window pops up. any help on this?

      to clarify: i tried it again after doing it like 5 times and it worked for some reason this time, but now i have a second question, the fps unlock/borderless windowed mod doesnt seem to work in tandem with this mod, and im wondering if this is just a mistake on my part or an incompatibility i missed

      Borderless and fps unlock should work in tandem with the mod.
      However, fps unlock causes bugs and glitches for any dark souls 3 version, even vanilla.
      One of the common ones is that your character will often sprint significantly slower when bumping into walls or enemies.

      sorry for the bombardment of questions lol, but i also have one last one, is there a fix for the semi-constant freezing in the mod that isnt changing the graphics? i really like the lighting changes and my gpu should be good enough to at least run a ds3 mod so is there something i should change around to fix this? i have a rtx 4060 if that helps anything.

      I have no idea why you're experiencing freezes in this mod (and most likely in vanilla).
      Are you sure this is due to Dark Souls 3? Performance is a pretty big deal for this mod, considering it's important for PvP.
      Because of this, we aim to make this mod as accessible as possible while maintaining 60 fps.

      late reply but I have little to zero performance issues with this game on vanilla, i can play elden ring too on high settings with basically no issues just as well, so I don't quite understand why it's this way for this mod in particular. If it isnt ds3 idk what it is

      Thanks for the feedback. I don’t speak Chinese myself, and the original translator is no longer part of the team. If you’re willing to point out which parts are incorrect, or help improve the translation, I’d really appreciate it.
      Also, I’m not sure what you meant by "网页未找到". It seems to link to an invalid page on my end. Could you clarify?

      This isn't needed. The private server itself blocks the means of transmission of the RCE exploit.

    Is there a lantern or some item that produces light? I killed an NPC who had some kind of lantern/that glowing thing from Demon's Souls while I was exploring the undead settlement.
    I'm currently in love with this mod, but I'm finding it a bit difficult to navigate the map in some really dark areas.

       Yes, it's called the crystal lantern.
       We also allowed more weapons to produce light and work as a torch.
       The torch itself was also significantly buffed to work as a proper offhand and shield.

       You can always manually connect or set up the private server.

       Once everything is set up, look for the champion's ashes server.
       Cross the gaps between the worlds and engage in jolly co-operation!
