If you're already dying repeatedly to a boss or to get through an area it never made sense to me to constantly reduce your maximum health, making something that you're already struggling to get through even more difficult. It's a really terrible mechanic that From Software didn't think through very well. Dying even once also turns your character into an ugly green hollow, ruining the look of the character that you probably spent some time customizing the look of.

This mod aims to fix these issues by removing the illogical max health penalty and allowing you to keep your human appearance no matter how many times you die. Four different variants of the mod allow you to choose which features you do and do not want to use.

Note: The effect of you appearing human is (intentionally) only cosmetic. This means that if you want to summon NPCs to help you throughout the game you will still need to use Human Effigies to actually restore your humanity first. You can tell if you are actually human or not because the game will not allow you to use a Human Effigy if you are human, and the icon will appear faded.

Customization Options

Each variant of the mod also includes two options within the downloaded archive:
  • Without Equipment Visual Effects: Removes visual effects on the player when certain things are equipped, such as the green aura for the Chloranthy Ring.
  • With Equipment Visual Effects: Leaves visual effects for equipment as they are in the vanilla game.

Known Issues

  • There is an odd issue that will cause the mod's max health and human appearance effects to be removed if you warp to a bonfire without any rings equipped. This issue doesn't happen if you have at least one ring equipped (any ring). If you do warp without any rings equipped and experience this issue it can be fixed by just resting at the bonfire. The Life Ring, Blue Seal, and Stone Ring can all be acquired at the very beginning of the game.

Note: This mod is only compatible with the Scholar of the First Sin edition of the game.

1) Extract the downloaded .zip archive and open the folder of the extracted archive.
2) Choose which one of the options you want to install and open that folder.
3) Move the enc_regulation.bnd.dcx file and Param folder to your game's installation directory (where DarkSoulsII.exe is), overwriting the original files.

You may want to make a backup of the enc_regulation.bnd.dcx file and Param folder first, in case you want to uninstall the mod later.

Warning: Using any mods while online will likely trigger the game's anti-cheat system. I highly recommend preventing the game from connecting to the online servers while playing with any mods installed.
