About this mod

Just the right mix of music and ambience! Sourced from LordBraathen's Orchestral and Accoustic Remaster, as well as MizterMoonshine's Environmental Ambience. Featuring 8 excellent but previously unused tracks - original, but never implemented in the game! Streamlined and pruned for your listening pleasure. For purists and modernists alike!

Permissions and credits
This is my remix of LordBraathen's remaster (with obtained permission) of the original Daggerfall music, combined with ambient sounds from MizterMoonshine's mod (with generous permissions). All credit to the original mod authors! Be sure to check out their mods if you'd prefer all-music or all-ambient sounds. This mod is for players who want the best of both worlds.

MAIN FEATURES
1) Overworld music is now mostly ambience. 2/7 nighttime tracks are discretely musical (with 5/7 being ambient), while daytime music is more weather dependent. Fair weather is almost completely ambient, while fog, rain and snow comes with suitable music. The reason here is that mods like Better Ambience (strongly recommended) already provide and improve rain sounds, so we can use the slots to bring players the best Daggerfall music instead of even more rain sounds.
2) Streamlined playlists. Snow music is heavy on the bells and seasonal feel. Rain music is harps and chimes with a touch of blippity-blopp. Temple music goes all out on chanting. Dungeon music is discrete and ambient while building suspence. 25 out of 62 tough cuts have been made for the music that didn't live up to my strict standards.
3) Did you know there are over two dozen original Daggerfall tracks that are unused, unimplemented in the game? Is it because they are worse that the ones that are used? Not at all! But LordBraathen, being the meticulous person that he is, remastered even these unused tracks with the same attention to detail as the implemented ones. This has allowed me a vast selection when pruning the music selection, and you can now hear 8 new tracks from original Daggerfall that were never before heard in-game while exploring dungeons and adventuring across the Iliac Bay!
4) The title track on the loading screen has been changed, and instead implemented in the game. The new title music has a better "intro feel" IMO, and the theme is already well known to players, featuring in several of the implemented songs (overcast, overlong, sunnyday - these are basically the same song, and there's no need to waster precious slots on repetitiveness). I thought the original theme song (5strong) fit better as a semi-epic backdrop to exploration instead. Hope you enjoy the breath of fresh air! Another notable swap is the castle music and palace music. Did you know the castle music necessarily must also play in fogs? Well, that's Daggerfall for you. So going all out on the regal trumpets, while making sense in a castle environment, is quite jarring when you're exploring on a cloudy day. With this change it's more of a compromise between the two environments, while at the same time making the palaces a bit more solemn.
5) The awful shop music is no more. Let us observe a moment of silence.

If you like the mod, please endorse! If you don't, let me know in the comments and I'll see what I can do.

HOW TO INSTALL?
Download manually. Unzip the folder. Drop the Sound folder into your StreamingAssets folder. If there's already a Sound folder there - merge the folders (normally done automatically).

There is a check box on the load screen where you can allow Alternate Music. It is normally unchecked and must remain so for this mod to work.
