TO INSTALL:


Extract the contents of the zip into your /Streaming Assets/ folder, such that it merges with your Quests folder. Replace files as needed.

WHAT DOES THIS DO:

Daggerfall has an ordinary limitation, that monsters created by the quest system are prevented from fighting entities that are not you (ie: infighting). This quest pack makes them all capable of infighting. More play styles are enabled with this: summoner characters can now use their creatures to kill quest targets, for example (assuming the summoned monsters have infighting enabled; one example is my Battle Creatures mod).

INCOMPATIBILITY:

This mod replaces files in the /Quests/ folder. It will overwrite changes by other mods that do the same, such as Cliffworms' Main Quest Identifier or my No Rush Main Quest. You can still gain some benefit from each one by extracting them in order of importance, with the most important one being last; for example, installing this mod first and then Main Quest Indicator will give MQI versions of the Main Quest, while all other quests will be Infighting Quest versions.

SOME CAUTIONS:

If an enemy is placed a single time deep in a dungeon, it will NOT have infighting automatically enabled. It must be injured or clicked once before infighting will begin. I could not find any other way to prevent them from being killed by other monsters before the player finds them.

The infighting mechanism I use is the same I have used for several years in QP1. It applies the "infighting" status to the enemy multiple times per second, infinitely, as long as the quest is running. I have no better method. This should not cause slowdown on any machine that I know of; no one has complained about slowdown yet with QP1. However, as part of the infighting method, the ghosts haunting Daggerfall will receive the "infighting" status for as long as the main quest is running. I do not know if this will cause strain on some lower-end machines. If so, there is a S0000977.txt.BAK in the folder. Delete S0000977.txt, and rename S0000977.txt.BAK to S0000977.txt. This change will only be reflected in a new game. Your other alternative is to shut down S0000977.txt inside your quest debugger, which will simply remove the Curse of Daggerfall from your game.

I reiterate that I do not know of anyone who has ever suffered poor performance because of this method I use. I am simply being proactive in making this warning ahead of time.

If you find some monster or group of monsters that refuses to do infighting, contact me. I'm pretty sure I used good methods here in every case, but you never know.

Lastly, you very likely will see bits of goofy behavior as a result of using this modification. Enemies will react as if you hit them, even if they were hit by a different entity, and so on. I did the best I could, and I assume this is the closest we'll get to full infighting in DFU.
