Dear Cliffworms, could you please add support to display the Town Greetings and Flavor Texts in the Vanilla Combat Event Handler log instead? It would be fabulous if it was just text that appears onscreen and fades out after a little bit of time.
I had Town Greetings + Arena-Flavor Text enabled for a couple of months and I really enjoyed the feeling they add to the game, but after a while I just had to turn them off because the popup windows can be a bit too intrusive.
But I miss them and I still want to see them! I think DFU could really benefit from a community standardized way to display "dynamic" text popups that could float on screen and fade out after some time. But I believe the Combat Log is the closest thing we have for this. It could be even better if there was some way to "prioritize" Combat Log text so that certain messages can stay on-screen for an extended duration.
edit: I just found "Arena-Style Flavor Text Recoded" and "Better Quality Descriptions" I was wrong about Vanilla Combat Event Handler, Magicono is using the HUD text for display. All that's missing now is the towns descriptions.
Since this mod uses quest text pop-ups to show the greetings, I'm not sure it could work. Maybe by instead migrating the mod to use code instead but that's not my area of expertise.
I'll argue that the pop-ups keep the Arena-style of showing up messages. ;)
Hey, I love this mod but idk why I get two messages when I visit any town. I did the things mentioned in the description, namely delete the quest folder after updating. I was wondering, will ending the quest and then starting it again help this? or do I need to start a new save?
For some reason both this and imsobadatnicknames' Town Descriptions and Details mod stops working after a certain point on DFU 14.4. I've tested it on fresh installations and it seems to stop triggering after about half a dozen fast travels on a new character.
Town Greetings of the Iliac Bay has been updated to version 1.2 Here is the changelog :
- Formatted the text to fit the SDF fonts and retro rendering modes. - Added the location/date for all the other exterior locations (dungeons, shrines, etc.) - Added the current year shown after the day and month. - Fixed a bug where the messages would show twice in one day, one during the day and one at night. Cheers and thanks to Kab the Bird Ranger for the current year string. Now it's identical to Arena.
It detects the settlement type and chooses the right message. So if your new canon locations use "Village/Hamlet/City" type, the messages will show up.
A quick-note about the current 1.0 release. I've just noticed that I forgot to remove a parchment you receive upon entering a settlement. I used this to test the messages. Also, I did not center the text correctly.
I will release a quick-fix in a few hours for those 2 issues.
Edit : These two issues have been corrected. The mod is updated.
