Recently, I've been extremely demotivated from modding and have generally lost the passion to keep going. NEON GENESIS exists as an express passion project of mine—without the passion to keep going—it starts to become a chore to maintain; one of the few things I've tried to minimize as much as possible with modding recently. It causes me to put out very bad work and make something I'm not particularly proud of.
I've been a relatively active modder for Cyberpunk since 2021, with my first serious mod, NLA, being uploaded in April of 2021. I've watched the community ebb and flow for a while, myself having been the cause for some turbulence in the past, but now, I think I'm done for a bit.
NEON GENESIS will stay up, I won't hide it till it doesn't work at all, but don't expect updates at all. Atacama is still the best version of NEON GENESIS and my creative vision no matter how much I try to "improve" it. And I want to say to anyone who has the passion to work on visual mods, don't be afraid to reach out on Nexus or on Discord, I have my own channel on the modding discord now: #null-morb-land. (This name will make sense if you've been in the community a while.) And I invite those same people to dissect NEON GENESIS as much as possible, take whatever you want as long as you change it and attribute/credit me.
This is not a last goodbye. I'll be back. It might be tomorrow, it might be in a year, who knows. There are just a lot of things that I'd like to delve into. I'd like to mod more games, even one-offs like Neutral Color Grading for Elden Ring were very refreshing.
Small demonstration of the visual modification. Unfortunately I couldn't add it to the mod gallery, but here's the video link: https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/videos/1846
Genuinely loving this mod, but unfortunately the super dark vignette causes FSR3 framegen to become choppy (At least I believe its the vignette, as scanning removes it and the game smooths out tremendously). Any chance of either a non-vignette version, or any way to disable it?
Ok so I came back to this after trying out several other lighting/weather mods. None of them get the lighting to feel right like this does. Love love love it.
even nearly a year on Neon Genesis still proves to be my fav lighting mod. I've tried all the new popular ones like GITS and Nova LUT env's but I keep coming back to this one for whole playthroughs as nothing else has been able to truly dethrone Neon Genesis in my heart
I hope we will see nullfractal return to developing this mod in the future, but sometimes you just get burned out on modding for a while.
In the meantime I want to comment about the HDR with this mod. I don't think it works properly, regardless of artistic opinions. The light level (nits) are limited with this mod, regardless of how you configure it in the in-game HDR settings (I've set it to 1000 nits). Using lilium hdr_analysis it clearly shows that the output is capped at about 400 nits, instead of a 1000. Compare this with vanilla HDR, where this does not happen. The only difference here is with/without the mod. No other settings changed.
NEON Genesis HDR
Vanilla HDR
I really hope we will see a fix for this, because the general lighting this mod creates is great, but this issue completely defeats using HDR.
holy fk.. I downloaded the REDmod version and installed it, then bam! All my mods are now dead because of this.... wow. -.- Uninstalling this mod didn't help either. completely f'd my mods >_>
I admire your zen-like patience, you're a better person than I am. Perhaps if more of your users understood how mods like yours actually work they'd be less inclined to throw it under the bus when they screw up their game.
Eh, everytime you install a REDmod mod you need to start the game with mods enabled through your launcher, because REDmod builds a cache (inside r6/cache/modded) that is related to the mods you have installed (specifically REDmod). When your cache doesn't match your current REDmod list, the game will freak out. Is not this mod fault, is you not understanding how to use mods on this game.
Every time I see a user with REDmod issues, 99.9% is related to cache issues, which are easily solvable. You can also just use Legacy version, which is literally the same mod but installed in the old mod folder.
Im satisfied with the NEONGENESES AT. I was eager to see thesurprises of the next modification, but given the author's lack of enthusiasm to continue, which we must respect, I will enjoy this beautiful mod for as long as possible. I have tried other climate adjustment mods, and this one is by far the one that pleases me the most. Tyvm... Null, for your efforts in offering us something so excellent!
I've tried a lot of the lighting mods for this game and this one is hands down, by far the best of them all. Suits the game and the atmosphere perfectly. Incredible work.

Bye for now.
New versions are organized via codenames, 1.1.x is "Atacama."

I genuinely wanna try this mod if it has better HDR tonemap than others, sadly I won't anymore. I don't wanna experience that again.
