Version 0.2.2 introducing the cart type changer.

This merges Strider's 2018 cart into the mod, and replaces the "blue cart" toggle in the mods settings, which didn't do anything for my mod anyway.
Now you'll have the option to choose between either cart types.
After changing settings you'll have to enter and exit any station once for the newly selected cart type to show up properly.

Please report bugs if you come across any.

I have a question, does this mod still works now that there is an actual metro in game? Or does it have some compatibility issue or something? Does it break the game like the mod train clipping over the official train or something? I want to install this mod but I fear I might do something wrong.

This mod doesn't add much to the game after 2.0, so you're probably fine without it.
It has not been tested since 2.1, so probably won't work as-is without modifications. I started working on an exterior replacement to match the new cart interior with a better shell, but have put it on hold, as it was unclear if future updates would interfere.
I will try to get back to it soon.

Thank you so much for working on the mod! Whatever is done is for the best. CDPR have done a good job of developing the metro, but you can't walk around the stations and do a 3rd person view to admire the city. So the mod is still needed. I would even say, more than ever.

I got to say. The one thing i really don't like about the new Metro in 2.1. Is you cant see the view the cart from the outside. Because it gave you great views of the city. All you see is smelly people on the train. LOL

After 2.1 update with its own Metro system your mod has become obsolete. Thank you anyway for your work, see ya at Night City Metro !!!

Far from obsolete. The latest overview of features video showed the outside of the carts unchanged, so we still have things to fix, even after the update.

"all that hard work you did is useless now! Thanks anyway"

      l o l

Always appreciated this mod, just want you to know. Saw another comment on the main thread that I think says it best... having a mod transition to officially being in the game itself is a high honor. You're part of that maud, and you should be proud. + your idea for changing the outside of the cart is pretty awesome. Looking forward to what you cook up

      Wild thing to say.

Anywho, Reworked and the main Metro-Station mods are still top tier and needed, IMO.
The base metro is literally cutscenes.

Kind of strange CDPR modeled the interior of the train but the exterior is unchanged. I think there's a 3d model of the new train somewhere in the game files...

The mod will never get obsolete, the 2.1 Metro have plenty of room for improvement. For example, maybe one day the "incomplete" stations can be completed and you can walk into the train instead of a loading screen, improving immersion.

Use Metro 2018 at Cyberpunk 2077 Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com)

LanceLionroar: "After downloading the mod, just copy the archive folder to your installation. Do NOT use the bin folder at all. This will keep the new metro system as it is, and the exterior of the ncart will look like this, instead of the odd shape of the in-game ncart."

      this works)))

I think we need it more now, the metro update kinda sucks. Can't even move around inside the car, even just being able to pull up and use your phone would be cooler.

Thanks a lot for 0.2.2 ! Seems to work mostly but encountered a few issues :

    - Auto-center toggle doesn't do anything here, toggled off or not, camera follows basegame auto-center timing (1s here).
(Tried by reloading an outside-of-a-station test save, not by entering then exiting a station as instructed so if it's my bad, apologies. Still would be an inconvenient toggle to operate though)
Thought it might be conflicting with Better Camera Auto's settings but it doesn't seem so and, if it's any help, despite vertical angle reset being active in BCA, it isn't used whilst riding a cart.

    - There are 3-cart trains frequently moving through the one V rides.

    - Despite default seating position being set to front left, V is sitting front right (unless it's actually front left but the cart is going backward and camera is automatically placed behind depending on the direction it's set to go in - a bit confusing anyway)

    - Archive file is named "Metro rE3worked 0.2.2.archive". Do you plan on keeping version naming or is it just a beta leftover ?
(Hoping it's a leftover as I guess it could get messy for some people manually updating)

    - Very minor but the Native UI description for the 2018 cart toggle switch still reads the deprecated blue color stuff

      Thanks for the quick feedback!

      - I have not been testing with auto center much, as I usually ride it in interior view, so this didn't come up on my radar. I'll check it when I can. Can you maybe provide some more info on what the expected behavior would be and what it is/isn't doing?

      - The scripted carts are still spawning when you're  riding the metro? 🤔 That's a new one, will look into it!

      - Seating is still somewhat WIP, the default seat has not been touched yet, but as soon as you scroll with your mouse wheel (I believe it is up/forward), the seating positions should fix themselves and you can cycles through them.

      - The beta archive names had the "beta" in them, so hopefully it does not cause any confusion?!?!? 😄 But if it does I will change it.

      - The some parts of the blue color stuff could be left behind, I'll get rid of them as they are found. Thanks for pointing it out!

      - For the expected behavior, I guess only toggling the auto-centering (and vertical angle if set so by any mod though vanilla has it disabled so no biggie for the vertical angle) but respecting the TPP auto-reset for car settings (vanilla or modded).
Ideally that is as it's just a nice-to-have QoL feature.

For what it is doing, I'll check further and edit this line if I find anything else but so far that's all I can tell regarding that auto-center (toggled on or off, it will follow main settings TPP auto-reset timing)
Edit1.5: Got an utterly hilarious bug (reproduced thrice - H10 Platform B to Alexander St) with a 3-cart train, see for yourself (added another view):

It's actually rocking left then right and so on as it goes ! LMAO
Edit2: That lone (and sideways) cart, one of a few :

      - Sadly, yeah. Some lone carts are even stationary too but that has always been a vanilla bug IIRC.
Weirdest one I've had was a chaining of first a set of three "overtaking". Followed by a lone one doing the same which then stopped further ahead then another set of 3 getting through that stopped one (but with collision sounds and FX - no visible damage) and my game crashed whilst I was looking back (but it crashes randomly a lot since 2.02 so no worries, it's unrelated). Funny one still :)

      - Indeed. Or with a controller's d-pad, that's working as expected.

      - True, but former stable ones didn't have version number. I was surprised to see them and thought "hmm glad I did look the file names up for updating or I'd have forgotten to delete the previous archive" (which would get overridden anyway but if updating to a 0.2.3 for example, 0.2.2 would still override the new one).
Hoping you'd rather go the overwrite route for updates like with previous versions.

      - Thanks and you're welcome :)

The auto-centering I'm increasingly sure if due to the base Metro System mod behavior. Under the hood it's using the bus from one of the endings, which was never meant to be driven by the player, only traveling with it in a heavily scripted scene. So the centering and such might not be properly working for it. I'll touch bases with KeanuWheeze about the base mod.

As for the weird carts, also not sure how much can be done about that for now. Since the base game system is unfinished, or should I say almost non-existent, just trios of carts running around on a schedule, like all other flying AVs are, it will keep existing no matter what we add on top of it. The only scenarios I could see for now to fix this is either replacing/removing the AV-carts while the player is travelling, or if Wheeze is taking the path I am personally hoping for with the base mod rewrite, using the base scripted carts instead, just putting a "pause" in their path to be able to board them. This all depends on the rewrite of the base mod however. (Unless I magically grow coding powers overnight)

The version numbers, on my side at least, were consistent at the very least since 0.2.0, so I'm not really seeing the difference in this version, but will happily modify it if you can give me some visuals on the difference 😁

      - Good point, that seems very likely indeed. Curious to see whether Wheeze could do something about it but honestly, it's really no biggie.
For the toggle itself, I guess there are actual ways to temporarily disable the auto-reset but I don't have a clue as to what they are.

      - Yeah, what a shame CDPR didn't even finish it - and other stuff.. so much wasted potential.
Anyway, your idea sure sounds very good ! Here's hoping both of you will be on the same page for that solution and that it's not a code mountain to climb but, at least, you've got coding skills, I have none ;)

      - Apologies for the confusion regarding the archive file naming :

What I meant was if you keep the version number at the end of the .archive file in your mod for next versions, users would always need to delete old for the new to get load order priority. Hence why I suggested not using version number for this file so users can just extract/drag&drop the new and overwrite the old installed version.

Took a screenshot illustrating my point using rfuzzo's Archive conflict checker tool and a copy of the .archive file bumped one version number for demonstrating :

Ah okay, I see what you mean (I think). I have always been using Vortex for my modding, and there it's as simple as disabling/deleting the older version after installing the newer version.
For safety reasons I'll consider this renaming, for sure. Will have to check on my end how Vortex handles version numbers.

I also do not have coding skills, I'm just very good at convincing others to poke at it for me and teach me bits here and there :D

Well, CDPR finally caved to the deserved players' pressure and it looks amazing in their teaser :)
Doesn't look like they implemented the full walking paths from stations "gates" to the carts but maybe modding that system will be somewhat "easier".

It has been fun! But who says it's over? :D We shall see what 2.1 brings and if we can improve on it further.

Removing the mod should be perfectly safe, it has no effects on the save.

Thanks a lot to you, Strider and NexusGuy for making this posable for as long as y'all did, if it wasn't for everyone working on the the much wanted additions we might not have gotten an official version. cant wait for the official metro and for what you'll do with it.
