This mod does not remove ALL the flicker of the cascading shadows is true. But it does remove 95% of all cascading shadow flicker for non RTX cards. All other flicker shadows are either dynamic or LOD issues.
Thanks to my friends for helping me with this test. If I had an RTX card I might have found a solution for RTX, maybe not.
can anyone confirm if this mod is compatible post 2.0 or at 2.12a? gonna hold off on reinstalling for a bit cuz im not 100% sure, currently troubleshooting on some older mods to see what be finicky right now, appreciate a response! thanks!
The game doesn't use RT for cascaded shadows, they default to rasterized rendering unless you specifically enable RT handle them through something like UltraPlus.
I play with this form 1.2 or 1.3. How, i belive and try find way in ini :D (i just separate lots of option and it start works right) Main option > MultiFrustumUseGlobalOcclusion = false Other just optional.
Wouldn't this come with a performance penalty since MultiFrustumUseGlobalOcclusion = false is preventing the game from not rendering certain assets that aren't in the player's view?
Might not matter on highways but in busy areas like the City Centre it could lead to a noticeable dip in fps?
How well did you measure your performance with these changes. Multiple settings? Across multiple areas in the game?
Any time I find one or these "I found hidden settings that make the game look better" ini config mods, I inevitably find an area in the game where fps tanks on my 3080ti//5950x.
Game always runs amazingly when I leave well enough alone.
my reasoning is probably because if frustum is meant to stop rendering items not in your field of view, the item is no longer present, hence it no longer casts shadows

I hope I answered all such "throw-ins".
Enjoy.

I have seen people turning this off in multiple INI's to my confusion, so they think it helps with shadows? Hmm...
