    Hiya,

This mod doesn't instantly make your car drift up and down hillsides like the white ghost of akina - BUT whatever driving set up you got going on, this should help both the handbrake (everywhere) and cornering on hillsides feel a bit more realistic. Works on all cars (including modded ones)!

    More background:
I'm working on a full installation video for all the driving mods I use, and how to make your car drive much more realistic. I've been learning a lot about tuning cars in this game - just using wolvenkit to mess around and figure out how the cars behave on a fundamental level, to better communicate it in the video.
After installing a few other handling mods such as: cyber drift, gripped up, etc. Cornering on slopes still felt really weird. I always tried just tuning my cars around it, give it more torque to just rip it sideways through corners etc. but it never felt right. I'm happy to say after messing around in wolvenkit for a bit - I was able to somewhat fix the issue. So the game already has gravity and mass and momentum and all that jazz built into it. But the game on every car calls to something called "Vehicle.UphillDriveHelper_Standard". What the uphill helper was doing was just giving the car more traction when there was some slope the vehicle was on, I think it gives the car more traction for how steep the hill is, and how long you've lost traction for, but I can't specifically test this (I've spent hours trying to nail down what it exactly does). This is not how cars work IRL, they just have mass momentum and all that jazz going on too. So disabling the uphill helper entirely, seemed to fix the issue of when turning the car just getting more and more traction being forced to drive straight and lose a drift, or just behave very oddly (compared to expected) when cornering on a slope. The car now just uses it's intrinsic physics to complete the turn how you would expect it.

The handbrake fix just disables a similar helper where it would apply more and more traction the longer you grabbed the handbrake, and then give you a boost of traction for a short period of time after grabbing the handbrake. Disabling these two things makes the handbrakes behave much closer to how you would expect a handbrake to work. I wanted to offer these two mods as a package as well as separately because I understand how some people get picky about their driving set up and if you like the slope fix, but want your handbrake to behave the same as vanilla... all good! I just want to help people drive better in this game, because with a little effort, this game can be your favorite driving game :)

That being said going downhills sometimes still feels like ass (like there's still traction being applied somehow)... while other times it doesn't - I'm taking a look into this and hope to update this mod in the future with a fix for that as well.

But outside of that cheers! If you need a good spot to test this out at - I highly recommend a track called dam lap from Gran Choomismo - great place to test whether or not you feel it working/what it does.

Sounds good! Would the drifting work without this being downloaded? I am having issues. I have downloaded everything else and I am not sliding around yet :/

"I am not sliding around yet" - if this is your issue i can only recommend drifting tutorial videos.
if youre using all recommended mods (and increased your cars power with cms ingame already) you should have created an environment in which realistic drifting is possible for anyone with the skill.

cant download skill tho.^^ if you have never drifted irl or in other racing games (nfs doesnt count) you will have to practice a bit. but im sure it wont take you long and it will be worth it! :)

check out our linked gameplay videos above if you want to see how your driving (and drifting) can look with this mod - after some practice!

Brother. I do drift in real life. In forza, in corsa.

I appreciate you trying to help me out. I just feel like that last message felt very pretentious to read. I do not think you meant it to come off that way.

I am having issues with the mods. I just started using them this week. It is not a skill issue.

I'll figure it out. Thanks for the help..

ok :D "I am not sliding around yet" didnt sound like it - dont take it personal, you could have been a 12yo and i get a lot of weird questions...^^

i hope you fixed your extraction issue - idk what program you used for zipping.

sorry for sounding "pretentious" - i just pretended to understand what issue you have to try and help.
but actually i have no clue :D i was making assumptions since im missing info.

anyways - i hope you fixed your issues and are cruising and drifting as you want now!

      Appreciate that brother!

I am new to modding games. This is my first game I am doing it to so I am learning it all right now.

The issue I keep having is un zipping the file. I have used multiple software's and I am getting the same issue. Then I accidently Opened it with explorer and it is no longer saving as a file..

I can drift no problem but computers are a learning process. All of my drifting mods don't seem to be really working all that well but all the other ones I have downloaded do. I may delete them and re do everything.

youre welcome bro - wish i could help more!

since your issue seems to be not only related to this mod i can really recommend watching cyberpunk modding tutorials on youtube! :) i know everything seems complex and confusing at first but dont worry, its not that bad as soon as you understand the general structure - and its definitely worth it! theres very few games on the market where modding feels so natural and immersive all around.

and specifically vanilla driving is like a bad fever dream...^^' but with just a few mods 99% of all issues are gone. so currently i just wish for a true manual transmission mod tbh - all my favourite cars drive very unique and controllable but challenging and fun :)
hope you end up happy soon too!

hi! Cyber Grip does basically the same as my "driving friction fix" (optional file of True Grip) but is fully compatible with Lonnys "Both Slope Traction Fix and Handbrake Traction Fix" (optional files of True Grip).
so :) feel free to try out and choose what you like better!
i assume they feel slightly different - but its just preference and you should be good with either one!

      regarding Cyberdrive i dont know.
i personally dont use driving ini's (what Cyberdrive is) since i could never really figure out what they do.^^ if you can tell what it does on its own - please tell me if both mods work together :D but yeah, i assume they shouldnt conflict or anything.

Thanks for the mod. After testing most of the driving mods, I’ve concluded that none of them completely fix the excessive "ice skating" effect in some vehicles. There are vehicles that work well in Vanilla, like V’s main car (both the Nomad one and the one you get in Night City) and Delamain’s car. These have good traction and feel solid to drive, with a realistic response when turning.Does anyone know of a mod that uses this type of driving to fix the excessive sliding in certain vehicles?

For example, in the Type 66 Hoon, when turning you can clearly notice how the rear of the vehicle slides effortlessly, even before the car changes direction, as if there were no weight in the back.

      Hi,

So the answer to your question is a long one but i'll TLDR it here to save you some time. It comes down to the individual tunes of the vehicles i.e. a lot of the vanilla cars are "alright" but there's often one or two major flaws with the way they are tuned in the game. I don't know of any individual mod that fixes it - but I recommend: Cyber Drift, Dynamic Downforce, Dynamic Gravity, then Gripped up or our Friction preset here on True Grip (but don't use gripped up and True Grip's friction presets at the same time). Additionally, Car Modification Shop allows you to edit specific parts of the car (in a very immersive way) to kind of fix whatever short coming the specific car you're dealing with might have to get the vehicle to a workable state. I think if you messed around with Car Modification Shop with whatever car you're dealing with you'll likely get it to a point that you really like via adjusting it's tires/engine etc. Additionally it might be worth while to try out some of Cornmilf/Okrasha's custom cars that are modeled from IRL cars i.e. the 2008 Subaru STI with MikeGrau's handling tune is a classic for me. SDH0 makes some great cars as well... I haven't really looked into custom vehicles in the past year or so (been taking time off from gaming, just now getting back into 2077).

So the long answer: a lot of the cars in the game have wonky suspension/friction/power presets, or there might be a car that you would think would be RWD but it's FWD in vanilla. The physics engine in the game is phenomenal, but it seems like whoever put the vanilla values into the final product of the game wasn't really a car person, and just wanted to finish the task at hand: having an okay driving experience in the game to get you from point A to point B.
The only realistic way is to fix these on an individual level, car by car, which might be something that I work on in the future, but it is a lot of work to get them ALL working in a realistic fashion (i.e. editing the individual YAML's of each and every vanilla car). IIRC the vanilla hoon has a pretty good layout for drifting as it's an homage to ken block, and the specific reason that it drives like that (the rear kicking out effortlessly) is that it's either RWD or AWD (can't recall atm) with appropriate friction settings in it's suspension and appropriate power for those settings, but it's supposed to just be a gimmicky drifting vehicle to get your toes wet in the drifting scene in Cyberpunk.
The other vehicles that you mentioned were personal favorites of mine at one point or another because again they have pretty good vanilla friction/power settings. The one thing that they all have in common are their friction settings gel well with the power that they have. It's a balance that's hard to perfect. I.e. my hoseki tune I uploaded is really good for drifting but it's got a gazillion horsepower to compensate for it's grip and being all wheel drive, it's very much not beginner friendly. That being said that's probably my favorite vehicle for the gymkhana stuff that I like to do in my free time.
So all of that to be said, there isn't 1 mod that fixes all vehicles to the degree that maybe you're seeking but there's tools out there to get it to a workable degree to just have fun driving around Night City. Because at the end of the day, that's what it's all about.
Apologies for the long rant, I just never see anyone really talk in depth about this topic, so I felt like I'd share my 2 cents here.

Hey! Thank you very much for your analysis and response. I didn’t know about the tribute to drifting with that vehicle, so now I understand the reason for its excessive sliding.I’ve never really explored the Car Modification Shop; I thought it was rather superficial. But given what you mention, it seems that will be the key.Thank you so much! I hope you have the time and energy to carry out that great modification on each car that you mentioned.

I use the Car mod shop, my go to custom Car mod is the Hoonigan, super fast already only set up is Tires and Brakes for even better handling, I find like the lonnylasagna  said these cars were rushed by a non grease monkey.

TLDR of the TLDR: theres certain handling issues with every car - those can be fixed with "global handling fixes" like True Grip.

and then additionally theres certain cars with certain specific issues - those need individual car tunes (i currently offer rattler, johhnys porsche and the quadra turbo-r vtech btw).

you wanna end up with a combo of global handling fixes and specific car tunes for all your favorite vehicles.

I found the perfect mod for me: https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/20385

It gives a sense of weight to the sturdy cars and agility to the fast ones, without making them clumsy. Also, the way the author organizes the parameters is very intuitive.

I added the Hoon by copying the author’s settings for the Type 66 Nomad, but I increased the steer angle and the traction bias to give it a bit of a drift feel.

Yes, I use Gravity Modifier and Nulled Angle Correction.

Also don't conflict with Gripped UP, All Cars Can Steer or CyberDrift, probably because these mods are overwritten.

I think that, since the mod work through CET, maybe this have higher priority. Also, I believe the mod covers every possible adjustment for vehicles.

im happy if youre happy - but just for the record: ofc it does not cover every aspect of vehicle tuning.^^
i do like his whole layout aswell, simplifies tuning and makes the basics more accessible.

it seems to offer a few tunes for specific vanilla vehicles - and ways to change them easily - so im pretty sure it doesnt have any conflict/override with global handling mods.

if im correct its basically a simpler alternative for CVO or Authentic Shift - and any "global handling fix" like True Grip or ShinyaOn's mods remain relevant.
