A fun experiment based on an idea from Discord ( @ unive). Can be used as a standalone cosmetic mod or as an add-on for my Death Alternative mod - Santa Muerte.

2024-03-24 update: - Bug fix: Relic death screens play when V is impersonating Johnny
Some death screens may need transparency adjustments. I am still working on that.
I don't know about compatibility with Second Heart Fix since I developed this to work with my own Santa Muerte mod which expands on the same idea. Alternative Death Screen should be compatible. It changes the final death screen AFTER you die while this mod plays a video over your screen WHILE you are dying.
It shouldn't. Pre-heist, the mod is stunted into only showing you static when you die. I tested it on a new game and it seems to be working. Let me know if you see anything else than white static (4th picture in the gallery).
Thanks for this ! That's awesome :) I'll find out on my own whether if used with Santa Muerte only "final" deaths will get vanilla animation but if not, consider this a request ;) And as a suggestion, instead of random, how about choosing screen based on the way V died (quickhacked, shot at, knocked out etc..) ? Those screens all have some logical visual clues that would articulate well with those different situations..
Thanks! Adding an option to apply screens to only the final death is a good idea. I added that to my list. Tracking the reason for death looks very complicated at first glance. I don't even know if it is technically possible.
Guess it can be a good one, yes, but that's not what I meant : All these random screens should keep applying on Santa Muerte deaths like they do now but the final one only would get the vanilla animation (I haven't yet found out whether it applies like that or not as I must have a bunch of deaths available still ^^ sorry if it's already behaving this way) and then death menu obviously.
I suppose it is, yes. Just food for thoughts then ;)
Guess that feature has been on the backburner, would you mind adding it now Santa Muerte can track forced death events ? I've just had one deathwall force kill me and since it's a "final" death, I was reminded of that request cause I had a random DDS instead of vanilla glitchy red vignette then death menu.
It's on my list on Github. I am taking a few days break from Cyberpunk to finish the latest No Man Sky expedition. I will take a look next weekend hopefully.
No problem. First you have to make sure Mod Settings is installed. Then after you load your game, open the main menu and look for the MOD SETTINGS tab in the list of options. The first picture in the Mod Settings download page shows you where it is.
I don't know why but it seems that after the your update today the mod can't load right on redscript, I have several of mods and this is the only one that gives a notification that was unable to load properly, although, the mod still works on the came, very confusing
It is possible your r6 script cache needs to be refreshed. I had similar issues when I upgraded to 2.11 and I found validating my game files (with steam) and forcing a recompilation of Redmods by removing a mod and adding it back helped me fix these issues.
incredible mod, well done. Question, is possible to make a random pool pre heist and one post heist? I know I can just deactivate random but I wanted to ask regardless. Also, have looked on camera effects? I experimented with some effects while looking for ones for a mod I'm working on, under fx/camera you have some like soulkiller animation or "teleport" transitions, I have some names of said effects accessible in case you want them to look them up in wolvenkit. Thank you for your work!
I am definitely interested in names of interesting effects in addition to or instead of death screen videos.
For the settings pre and post Heist, that's a good point. I initially made this mod to work with Santa Muerte, which has its own detection of pre and post Heist, but I should add something here if it is used in standalone mode.
By the way.. are you aware if there is any effect that can cause nearby NPCs to be scared? I know these effects above are mostly visual, but since you looking into this, did you come across more elaborate effects that cause reactions on NPCs? I am looking for something that will cause panic for resurrections in Santa Muerte.
I don't know sadly, but I think this is related to code/script side rather than effects themselves. Maybe checking stuff like https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/7353 could help? I'm not sure... In any case seems something to be worth asking on the modding discord, you could try there if you haven't already!
oh but that would fix it? gonna deactivate it on my own for now until you have the update. Thank you regardless, is sucha small thing but I thought it was worth mentioning
The culprit is actually the Randomizaton option. I didn’t check for pre- heist if randomization is on. If you have to turn something off it would have to be that.
i'm surprised this has pretty much no requirements. Just mod settings menu with the new file? Great idea for a mod, thank you! Not sure what to tag this as. I tagged it as Horror, Quality of Life? This should've been in the base game. Hope more people find this! Endorsed & kudos'd
Hi, are you able to control the time visible time of death before we see the flatline part? That way we can stay in V's dying POV for longer before the gameover screen comes.
I am researching how to pause the game until the video is finished. Initially I wanted to string certain videos back to back, like crash and then reboot for my resurrection mod. It would be nice to adjust the death sequence to the length of the video played, or to a fixed length set by the player.

There are more that I don't know and some that I didn't write down but worked for me (I was trying to do this for a cyberware I'm doing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDuDlKCdtOg ).

EDIT: just had a techie/young rogue splash on act 1 :(
I didn’t check for pre- heist if randomization is on.

Codeware is also a requirement.. did I miss it?
I will check again when I am not on my phone.
Thanks for pointing that out.
