    • Path tracing now works with AMD! Start with PT20 Performance or Balanced and play around. Lmk how you go 😊
    • Improved Ads Draw Distance and missing ads — all 3 files of Ads Draw Distance must have priority over other LUT/ENV mods (ty to loomes)

If you're experiencing an issue please let me know::

    • Version of CP = 2._____
    • Mod version = v_______
    • GPU / vram = ____ GB
    • Mod type? ... Fast/Normal/High/Insane ... RT / RT+PT / PT20 / PT21 / Non-RT
    • Any other ini mods?

Please be excellent to each other 😊

    Most recent notes:

    • If your game is crashing or black spots or smeared shadows when installing Ultra+ Control, or after removing Ultra+ Control, your UserSettings.json probably has inconsistencies. Please rename %LocalAppData%\CD Projekt Red\Cyberpunk 2077\UserSettings.json
    • If you have low FPS, try disabling your overlay (Steam, GameBar, NVidia)
    • Using RT + PT? Disable PT in graphics and enable RR (if you have it). You will likely also need to increase your gamma gamma (and use a gold LUT like Vanilla Plus, PREEM, NOVA, or GITS)
    • To re-enable the GameBar, use this reg file. This will be included in the next release
    • Rectangles on left of screen. Go into dlsstweaks.ini and change ResolutionOffset from -1 to 0
    • If you get really low FPS (even without this mod) and have 12GB or less of vram, CP is out of vram (see point 3 about the CP 2.1x bug). Set textures to Medium and remove 4k texture mods. Ultra+ tries to improve this problem, but I haven't worked out how to workaround it completely (CDPR need to fix)
    • FSR3 for Cyberpunk is out for NVidia users. Use the Universal version for least hassle 😊
    • For AMD CPUs, if you haven't, please run AMD's Auto Detect driver tool. If you've installed chipset and CPU/GPU drivers, Auto Detect will usually find important missing drivers
    • Generally, exclude 1) gamename.exe, 2) the game folder, and 3) shader cache from Windows Defender (or other) real-time scanning
    • Also exclude games from Control Flow Guard (click Start > type Exploit Protection > Click Program Settings > click Add program to customize > click Add by program name > type Cyberpunk2077.exe > Scroll down to Control flow guard (CFG) > Click Override > Switch to Off)
    • Enable Resizable Bar more info here and intro video here
    • There is a bug in CP 2.1 vanilla with black appearing on trees. It's a CDPR bug caused by the world position offset not accounting for mesh deformations due to wind... I.e. the textures do not move with the mesh. There is a workaround mod by TheCyanideX here

    IMPORTANT

    Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone,
I am seeing that there is a lot of confusion on how to choose the corresponding .ini after the changes that were made.
    We now have the following:

    (1) ~UltraPlus-Performance.ini
    (2) ~UltraPlus-Balanced.ini
    (3) ~UltraPlus-Quality.ini
    (4) ~UltraPlus-Cinematic.ini

That is the order from lower quality to higher quality.

And in the old days we had (on the right I put the current equivalence)

    ~UltraPlus-Fast.ini (Doesn’t exist anymore)
    ~UltraPlus-Normal.ini (Now is ~UltraPlus-Performance.ini )
    ~UltraPlus-High.ini (Now is ~UltraPlus-Balanced.ini )
    ~UltraPlus-Insane.ini (Now is ~UltraPlus-Quality.ini )

And ~UltraPlus-Cinematic.ini is a new level, we do not recommend its use if you want to have a smooth experience with high FPS, it is designed for the highest possible visual quality.
!ATTENTION! It doesn’t matter if you have a 4090, you will have low FPS using the ~UltraPlus-Cinematic.ini

Today I had a day off so i spent all my day playing and testing v4.0 Beta at the same time. Here are some things I noticed:

     1. PTNext is by far the best looking version, it does have the odd glitch here and there but nothing too distracting and reloading the save fixes all the small bugs I had. I am running PTNext Insane with some of the ini settings tuned down to "High" preset (so I made something in between "High" and "Insane" for myself) and get 80 fps average on a 4090 with 4k DLSS Balanced and Frame Gen. This is around the same FPS I previously got with PT21,  except PTNext looks better at the same performance level.

     2. The "EnableGlobalLight" setting is a straight up quality improvement in every way for the sun light. It is much higher quality with much more accurate shadows. Just as one small example, I didn't even realize the palm trees were moving with the wind but their shadows on the ground were static. After enabling this setting, not only did the shadows start moving with the trees, they also became higher resolution and more detailed. This setting also magically fixed (from my experience) the black shadow bug on the trees. HOWEVER, this setting breaks your character's shadow under sunlight. The character model's shadows were always distractingly bad so I don't mind it because it is a direct improvement everywhere else and it doesn't apply to NPC shadows, only your own. On my 4090, the performance only decreased by 1-2% when enabling this setting.

     3. SSR Fallback and all other Screen Space data should be enabled by default in my opinion. After hours of testing, it only seems to make the pathtraced reflections more accurate and adds detail to them. It never changed the reflection in any way except adding more details and it costs no performance to enable it. It is a net positive, unless you want your reflections to be slightly more consistent. That is, they will always lack smaller details but the details of the reflections won't change with camera movement like it does with SSR.

     4. PreCacheDistance can be increased further than what is already set. I increased it from 40 to 100 and only saw 2-3% performance decrease, but a lot more detail. So far haven't noticed any issues like disappearing buildings or anything. Here is a comparison between PreCacheDistance 0 and 100. Look at how much more small detail is added. It makes the pop in extremely unnoticeable: https://imgsli.com/MjQ5NDk3 (beware of VRAM if you don't have at least 16GB though).

Overall, PTNext is the best this game has ever looked. It could still be improved by ironing out the small bugs but aside from that it is amazing. Thanks for all the hard work.

I have a similar set up (4090 + i9 14k + 64 GB RAM). Could you share what settings you changed in Ultra+?

I ask because I'm in a similar boat where i'm getting 80-90 fps on High and 50-60 fps on Insane. So am looking for something in between (also am using nova city that ups the traffic + npc's by around 3x, as well as 4k LOD mods so that's also affecting my fps). Thanks for your help!

Unfortunately I don't remember each and every setting but I will tell you how I did it. Go to the UltraPlus folder and open all LUA and INI files one by one. Before touching anything, look at the settings for High preset and for the Insane preset. A lot of things will be the same, but some stuff will be different. Here is one example:

       In setquality.lua:

       var.quality.HIGH -> SetOption("RayTracing", "TracingRadius", "200.0")
       var.quality.INSANE -> SetOption("RayTracing", "TracingRadius", "1000.0")

As you can see the tracing radius in this example is 1000 for insane but 200 for High. What I do, is I set it to a number that is somewhere in the middle so 600. It is better than High, but lower than Insane. Keep in mind that there is already BARELY any visual difference between High and Insane, so if you do this for every setting, you will get something that looks 97% as good as Insane but with more FPS.

Now you just have to go ahead and do this for every setting in every ini/lua file that has quality presets. Make sure to not touch anything else if you don't know what it does. I have learned this the hard way after messing around with stuff I didn't know about and then the game was suddenly much more unstable and looked worse until I figured out which important setting I accidentally broke.

But as long as you only stick to the different values between High and Insane, you should be completely fine.

amazing detective work 😊 you're most welcome to join us in the HDR Discord > gaming-forum > Ultra Plus, which is where the development happens 😊 (find it in the RenoDX mod)

      1. Insane is overkill tbh, but i think some people want to kill their GPU and/or are very sensitive to any noise or artifacts... however i agree it can (should) be reduced to somewhere between High and Insane

      2. EnableGlobalLight can cause double shadows on some characters is what's in my notes, especially if there are player mesh mods... that's literally the only reason it's turned off. if we can work out how to solve this, it goes on 🤔 ... it's not even consistent, i've never seen the issue — we just haven't found the root cause yet

      3. i tend to agree. the SSR blending is in many cases far less physically-based ... if you go into the Afterlife, walk towards the bar, turn right... up the stairs into the alcove with the pool table... look at the glass division with SSR blending enabled/disabled. it's flat-out wrong with SSR enabled. but then look at the dancer tubes, or the reflections of the vending machines, and they're missing several reflections and also wrong (because those assets aren't fully in the PT world space). the real solution is to somehow move all the assets into the PT world space, so we don't need to rely on SSR at all (SSR blended reflections also tend to be whiter or brighter than the path traced reflections)... i do engines though, idk how to bring the assets into PT 😊 ... does anyone have any ideas?

      4. i agree... the only reason i haven't is because it's causing hitching for some people

i too need to spend a good weekend or two sorting out the remaining questions, i'm just going to be a little crazy with work for the next few weeks 😭

Can I get you config please? I've 4090 and 13900k but with PTNext even on Medium I'm barely getting 80 fps. I had 100 on PT2.1 High preset.
And I'm getting lots of shadow bugs with PTNext like flickering shadows and car shadows has awfull ghosting now for some reason.

      @sammilucia

       Did some more testing today:

Firstly about Global Light, it appears to have another problem with distant shadows. Here is how I tested it: with it disabled, the distant sun shadows render veryyy far. For example, from near the Wellsprings metro in bottom left part of the city center, you can see the distant shadows all the way on Dogtown's tall buildings. When Global Light is enabled it removes those shadows completely. I thought it was just "more accurate soft shadows" and that is why you couldn't see them from that far but no, the shadows reappear when you get closer, so this means it just has limited range. But otherwise it honestly looks so damn good when you only focus on nearby stuff that I am still debating whether distant shadows are worth turning it off for. Sadly I did end up turning it off because I don't like shadow pop in and it is especially noticeable if you are driving fast. If you could find a way to increase its range that would be amazing. Until then, setting the SunAngular Shadows to 0.15 like you did seems to have almost the same quality for shadows. I thought it was too sharp at first but the shadows with GlobalLight are even sharper so that probably means 0.15 is a good value. The default 0.5 makes a lot of sun shadows disappear completely, which I didn't notice previously until I did more extensive testing.  However, this method still doesn't have the increased and higher quality bounce lighting of GlobalLight. With GlobalLight it genuinely feels like it is 4 vs 40 light bounces because some dark areas that should be brighter from the indirect sunlight end up much brighter like they should be with the setting turned on.

       2. I also did further testing with PreCacheDistance and never mind, it does indeed make buildings disappear when it is set at 90 or above. 80 seems to fix that almost completely but I still found a couple smaller buildings disappearing with it too. I ended up setting it to 70 to be safe and have yet to encounter any issues. I would recommend increasing it to 50-60 for High and 70 for Insane. 40 is a bit too conservative from my testing.

       3. Yeah I would love for more things being moved into PT instead of having to rely on SSR. Until someone can figure it out, we have to choose between more detailed but inconsistent and slightly inaccurate reflections or vice versa.

       4. ReGIR, "ShadingCandidatesCount" and the other setting you mentioned do absolutely kill performance. I saw no noticeable difference between Medium and Insane values for those but the fps difference was big. I just ended up setting those to High values instead. There are also just a lot of RTXDI/ReSTIR settings that look almost exactly the same between High and Insane at least at 4k. Maybe with lower resolutions those settings show a bigger difference but at 4k I found that High looks 98% as good as insane while running much much faster. It makes a bigger visual difference going from DLSS Balanced to Quality than from High to Insane. Maybe with the 5090 we can use it haha.

      @Yusif742

      2. PreCacheDistance = 70 breaks the game to me. Lots of shadows or textures starts to flicker and sounds like car engines becomes bugged. 60 Seems to work fine, no issues. But 70 is deffo bugged

Interesting, thanks for letting me know. I haven't encountered issues so far but might change it just to be safe.

By the way about my config settings, it is literally just High/Insane, I have only adjusted some values to be somewhere in between. I get 85+ fps with High preset. Could be another mod for you.

Ok so I've been using this mod for like 2 weeks now more or less with the 3.5.3 version with rt+pt at quality with dlss balanced and frame generation because it was giving the best quality overall in my eyes especially in terms of smearing, ghosting and grain but it was still noticeable especially with Ray reconstruction enable.
Also it had quite better performance compared to full Path tracing 2.0 or 2.1 at any quality settings plus full pt had way too much smearing, ghosting and grain overall.
I have a ryzen 9 5950x and rtx 4090 and with rt+pt quality i got an average of 105fps at 4k with dlss v3.7 balanced with frame generation (which i usually hate because it's fake frames and it gives way too much latency but in this game it's alright imo plus having a base framerate of close to 60fps really helps fr)

But since 2 days I've been using the latest 4.0-rc1 version and I've set it to pt 2.1 since I feel like it's now worth it and has WAY less smearing, ghosting and grain than before, still rt+pt is better in that aspect in my eyes but full pt has really more visual details overall like better and way more shadows overall so yeah.
I've set it to balanced quality but with dlss performance which i really don't see any difference visually with dlss balanced but the fps difference i definitely notice it so yeah.
So with that combo with frame generation and at 4k (not native obviously, it's internally around 1080p so yeah) still of course i get an average of 97fps and the visual quality is far better so yeah, good stuff overall.

I tried pt next but unless i set it to insane which is definitely not worth it in terms of performance imo especially consider I'm already using frame generation so yeah I'm not a fan right now at least, will try it again in upcoming versions but right now i think I will stay at pt 2.1 balanced which I'm very content with atm.

Edit : I tried pt next again and with dlss tweaks preset E like I saw another user recommending on here (I was using preset C like the mod author recommended) But i think I will keep using dlss tweaks preset C with PT 2.1 Balanced like i was doing before.
I retested and I indeed get an average of 97fps in that configuration at 4k with dlss performance with Ray reconstruction and frame generation at full max settings.
All the same but with PT next balanced i get an average of 87fps and I personally really need an average of at least 90fps while using Frame generation for it to feel acceptable for me at least since I usually hate Frame Generation.
Without it I could even play at a locked 60fps no problem but never under 60fps of course.

There are videos on Youtube comparing the different DLSS presets bro on v3.7, I think you sticking with preset C is placebo as preset E has been agreed upon to be the best at reducing smearing and producing a (slightly) sharper image. But if your setup is ok with preset C then no issue, the differences aren't huge.

Also the author of this mod has said himself that PT 2.1 is the mode with the least quality, PT 2.0 and PTNext are the highest quality modes. Why he named them this way idk, I also thought PT 2.1 was the best due to it being a higher number lmao. But PTNext is much higher quality than both 2.0/2.1 so that's why your fps dips a little. I personally think 87fps is more than fine with frame gen on a mnk though.

Hey I'm in a bit of a pickle here : I installed ultra plus along with ultra control with the following files :
    ~UltraPlus_12GB and ~UltraPlus-Normal-RT-Balanced

Everything seems to work fine however when i open the ultra plus control panel in CET it is displayed that the mode being used is RT+PT along with other path tracing options such as Pt denoisers, rain fix and turbo mode.
However, whenever I try to switch back through the control panel to normal RT (which is alllegedly the file that I dowloaded in the first place) the game crashes.
I've already tried deleting my UserSettings.json file and verifying files integrity through GOG but it didn't resolve my issue.

Any help is appreciated, I tried to be as precise as possible to make it easier for anyone to help me but if you need more details tell me,
    thanks

Getting huge framedrops on rt 2.1 balanced. anyone else using a 4070ti and 5800x3d wanna share their setup? should I also mess with the in-game graphic settings? currently set everything to ultra.

Edit: After Defeft help, with my setup I am currently running PTNext from Ultra Plus v4.0 at medium with a stable frame rate around 70+ fps. Also using all DLSS 3.70 files and preset E. Anecdotally, these changes clearly help with the smearing effect from DLSS/ray reconstruction. I can't say its totally gone, but reduced greatly. Also, in-game settings are psycho with some difference (no film grain, no motion blur)

rt 2.1 balanced? shouldn't be causing framedrops. I use PTNext at High on a 4070 Super/5800X3D, everything set to max and there are no framedrops.

If you're using other mods it could be them, maybe try re-install and only install this mod after to check if it's this that's causing it

nah PTNext is new and different to PT 2.0/2.1, you need to install v4 and delete the old files in your engine folder and install CET. IMO it's the best looking version and a big improvement over previous versions, but you can probably play at PTNext medium as I haven't noticed any difference at all and you gain about 5-10fps so closer to vanilla PT fps. I just have a primate need to set things needlessly high. And I'm playing at 1440p DLSS Q/RR/FG and yeah every setting at max, Psycho yes.

I had to re-install bc I was getting bad frame drops and it must've been a mod I installed as it's very consistent now, this mod shouldn't make your fps tank.

Btw there are a few bugs in the new version, like car headlights not illuminating at night properly and NPC skin looking like plastic in dark environments when RTXDI Separate Denoiser is enabled, which needs to be enabled for RR to work so hopefully it gets fixed soon. But overall, it's much better quality compared to any other version.

ah i see. i'll give v4 a try. i was worried to use it since it is still experimental. btw, do you get weird "smears" in your game? i'm guessing this is caused by DLSS or Ray Reconstruction? Turning off ray reconstruction/dlss just tanks my fps though.

The smearing is the RR, you can disable it and lose a few fps but it makes puddles/any reflection look like crap + increases VRAM by a few hundred mb.

I guess you are still using DLSS v3.5? They have released v3.7 which does reduce the smearing a bit and produces a slightly sharper image. The smearing is still visible, 3.7 just leaves less of a trail. And makes NPCs faces a bit more detailed at a distance

Just search for "dlss techpowerup", download v3.7 of dlss, dlss fg, and dlss ray reconstruction. Replace those files with the ones currently in your bin/x64 folder. You'll also need to download DLSSTweaks, can be found on this site or github, and move every file also into your bin/x64 folder. After, open DLSSTweaksConfig, scroll to "DLSSPresets", and change DLAA-Ultra Quality to E.

E seems to be the one that has the least smearing, Digital Foundry made a video comparing the diff presets here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PneArHayDv4&t=130s

Ah, that's a shame about Ray Reconstruction. I am using DLSS 3.7 as per sammilucia suggestion, and also the suggested DLSS tweaks/preset. I did see a bit of improvement regarding the "smearing" but it still there. On another note, I did a run with PTNext insane and still got around 60 fps. It does dip below 60 fps though, so I'm testing out PTNext-High after this.

Edit: It seems sammilucia suggested DLSS preset C with his own tweaks, I might give preset E a go then.

did you download the 3 different dlss versions tho or just dlss?

Yeah I've compared medium and high and don't notice really any difference lol, medium gets me about 5fps shy of what vanilla PT gets me, which going from mid 80s to 80 is worth it. At high I get mid 70s in the city and 90s in the desert, so your GPU should be a bit higher.

Insane is overkill to me though xD, tanks the fps for not much change.

I followed the instructions on the v3.5.3 file which is to download the nvngx_dlss_.3.7.0.zip file. So I think only one of them? Not sure if this is correct or wrong.

Also not quite sure on how to change to preset E for the DLSS as I'm just following sammilucia instructions on using their own version.

that's just DLSS then, you are still using Ray Reconstruction v3.5 and Frame Gen v3.5 :D The other two downloads are on techpowerup bro just follow what I put in the other reply, also idk why he said to put preset C as preset E is unanimously agreed to be the best preset at reducing smears. I think it was preset C in v3.5 but not in 3.7.

And to change preset you open DLSSTweaksConfig(which should be in your bin/x64 folder), scroll until you see "DLSSPresets" and change each of them to E. I put the steps in my other reply

So I managed to get all frame gen and ray reconstruction to 3.7.0 as well and there are certainly very noticeable differences. Without even changing the preset, the smearing/visual noise seems reduced (although this might just be a placebo).

Thanks for your steps for DLSSTweaks. For some reason, I couldn't understand clearly what the mod author steps were. Will try this next.

Edit: I think I managed to change the preset to E. Very clear improvement imo, although I can still detect some smearing (maybe not from DLSS) around the edges of NPCs' hairs. Will edit the parent comment for other people's benefit. Thanks again

Also, one weird question, is there a difference between using cyberpunk.exe and using redprelauncher.exe for these DLSS changes? I have one mod that specifically required redmod.

I've never used redlauncher so idk xD all my mods are visual improvements and I try to keep the game as vanilla as possible

Btw I think v4 of this mod is actually broken at night with people using Ray reconstruction, so I've stopped playing Cyberpunk until it gets fixed.

made a video showing it, you'll probably see this too even during daytime and the only way to get rid of it is to go into settings and change a random thing like FOV. It gets rid of this silhouette but breaks lights illuminating the environment. I still think v4 looks best so I don't wanna go back to a previous version :P

i was able to fix the silhouette bug by going inside or facing a wall so that none of the skybox is visible and then saving and reloading. looking down doesn't work because your head position is reset when loading in.

btw ammus5, 70+fps sounds a little on the low side for PTNext medium with your GPU :o I think another mod may be causing lower fps that you use, bc I get 70+ on PTNext high with a GPU that is slower than yours

Well personally i have a ryzen 9 5950x and an rtx 4090 and I tested every mode in every configuration in version 3.5.3 and 4.0-rc1 and in the very latest version 4.0-rc1 the best mode for me at least in my eyes is PT 2.1 balanced as it gives the best ratio for visual quality and performance at least for me and considering i play at 4k but with dlss performance (I see no difference visually with Dlss balanced but fps wise very much so personally so yeah) with ray reconstruction, frame generation and dlss tweaks preset C (i tested preset E but I don't like it, I really think preset C is the best atm) at full max settings.
In that configuration i get an average of 97fps which i found acceptable with frame generation which i usually hate but in that game i feel it's alright especially playing with full path tracing.

But yeah also I usually play with mnk and i know on controller FG feels a bit better but still.

I tried playing with a controller and it's a bit better especially driving but yeah I still prefer playing on mouse & keyboard personally.
But yeah also I didn't find a driving handling mod that i like so I don't use any for the driving handling but if anyone could recommend a good one I would try it.

hi dear author, is there a setting to adjust the number of bounces? I used to do that and set the bounces to 7 in the ini file, and it looked so much better, but I can't do that anymore for the new version. I read somewhere that your mod allows doing that but can't find it in the settings.

With ReSTIR, you can't adjust rays/bounces anymore, which is what the PT2.1 and PTNext use. If you want the best quality, use PTNext Insane. It looks better than the previous 7 bounces you would set.

I'm getting CTD on load, with this stack trace:

    Error reason: Assert
    Expression: it != m_groups.End()
Message: Could not find group '' in in game config system
    File: E:\R6.Release\dev\src\common\redConfig\src\inGameConfigRegistry.cpp(96)

Any idea why could that be happening?

My AVG FPS dropped by 10 when using ultra plus in the black sapphire and some other demanding parts of the game (RX 6600, R5 4500)

if you mean the VRAM size, all the settings are on the CET overlay. Choose PTNext/21/20 etc then PT quality and VRAM size

yes, size. i remember seeing somewhere that while using the beta mod, to still use the vram file from the original mods. i don't know if that's still the case

    Hey everyone :)

So PT Next solved a bunch of issues that I was having with Vanilla and PT20/21, but the settings don't seem to save when I reload my game. Mainly the ENV related settings change (volumetric fog and such). I don't have any ENV mods enabled though. Any help would be highly appreciated!

    Cheers :)

settings don't save apart from the general settings like which PT mode you are using, you need to check every time you open the game.
