This game was causing me struggles to hit 40fps, even when other more demanding games breeze away with ultra settings at 120 or higher on my machine.  This mod allowed me an 8-12fps increase and it's definitely smoother playing.  I don't know why this game causes my machine to struggle so much.  Seeing many reports that others are experiencing it as well.  Try this mod if you're experiencing slowness or stuttering.  It just may be what helps you for now until the devs release a patch.

I can confirm it works on the Steam Deck. I can't exactly tell  by how much because the game is capped at 30fps. But I've been able to increase the render scale. And change the render from XeSS to TSR that was a significant drop before.

Edit: playing with this settings on the deck is quite decent:

    Good job!

    LITTLE MOD REVIEW

TL;DR - Yes, this mod helped me improve ingame performance, reduce stutter and make the game more playable.

    Longstory:

I've tested this mod in the area I had most performance issues, forgotten battlefield. Without the mod, I just barely had 60 fps in roaming mode and it would often drop to 45-50 fps in combat. Most other areas in the game I had always roughly 60fps in combat, but with terrible stuttering.

After I tested the game with the mod, I always had atleast stable 60fps in most areas, whilst being in combat, with the exception of forgotten battlefield, where I was at just at 55-60 fps, but the stuttering was very minimal.

DISCLAIMER: This mod won't work miracles, if you play on a potato, but it helps by a lot. With the exception of one area in the game, my stuttering was at an all time low and I probably wouldn't have noticed any stuttering at all, if my AMD Software didn't tell me there was some.

I want to mention that the reason I have technical issues with this game is because of a lack in CPU power, that doesn't match the recommended requirements, it's not a GPU problem for me. So perhaps your experience with this mod could turn out even better.

Do not care too much about the people in the comments who says this mod does not work. Give it a try and... if it works it works.

I tend to be very skeptical of these types of mods, but omg this actually works! I was already getting a stable 60 fps but when I use a reshade I dropped in the fifties with tons of stutters. This mods fixes it! Thank you so much, I will try your oblivion mod once I am done with this game

Can this be used in conjunction with ClairObscurFix? That mod has cutscene framerate adjustments and sharpening controls, both of which are valuable modifications.

      Yes, of course.

If you hang on the start screen, deleting .upipelinecache and .ushaderprecache files located in %LocalAppData%\Sandfall\Saved
      should solve the issue.

You can read about it here: https://github.com/Lyall/ClairObscurFix/issues/11#issuecomment-2843485844

I'm not sure if this mod works or not...I installed the mod before I even opened the game. But this is my experience.

I'm playing with my PC handheld AokZoe A1pro.  This mod + lossless scaling, I'm getting 50-60 fps at 20 TDP with custom graphics, mostly low settings except for epic on anti-alias, post processing, textures, and visual effects.  Foliage is at high.  My experience has been a very smooth, no noticeable stutters or artifacts.

So kudos, the mod is working great!

Hi, so I installed the mod and it caused some lighting to flicker unpleasantly and for some reason the "blast" you use to break boxes and things no longer has sound unless it actually hits a breakable object. The character still yells or grunts, but the SFX for the "blast" is gone.

So, I removed the mod...and both the flickering and missing SFX are persistent. Does this mod make changes to anything that would be resilient to removal of the .pak? Any Ini changes, any changes to files elsewhere?

Then that's not caused by this mod.
No, when you remove the .pak file that's it.

Try removing all mods and Engine.ini modifications you have.

Removing the .pak file and loading didn't fix it, but it did fix after then transitioning back and forth between the Manor and the Stone Wave Cliffs. Might be something from the mod got stored somehow until I actually changed areas. I've noticed the game "applies" some of its lighting after coming out of the character menu. I hadn't fully registered it but in addition to the flickering the darkness and contrast had spiked much higher (also fixed).

The problem was not present prior to installation and occurred immediately after installation, so I remain suspicious the mod did indeed have a causal role, but there's the fix in case anyone else encounters the same thing.

It's the game bug, gremlins, or whatever. Like I said, there are no leftovers after you remove this mod's .pak file.

Just downloaded the mod. In my latest save I'm at the camp and talking to companions. I'm having the issue with white-ish hair that other have mentioned. I saw the changelog, but I don't know what I'm supposed to do with that. It looks really bad and breaks the immersion for me :(

I do have the UE5 global illumination fix for ROG Ally [https://rogallylife.com/2024/10/20/global-illumination-unreal-engine-5-bug/], though. I wonder if there's a problem between that and your mod.

Yep, that's a price for a 30+fps improvement (Lumen Global Illumination is disabled) in the BOOST mod. :) It is what it is.

"all without sacrificing the game's graphics/visual quality."
edit: ah, THIS boost mod where you said it makes the graphics worse... but still, I have the white-hair issue in the base version :(

Supposedly the white hair issue is also affecting the base mod.

I wanna try this as i seem to have a rare issue not many have. Running out of VRAM.. I have a 4070ti and ryzen 5 7600. Never had this issue with any other demanding gaems, this was a first.. Willthis likely help with that?

Try the mod, it's harmless. Use it if it helps you. That's it. :)

Also, use Optimal Settings from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nF4pHlsbiD4

THANK YOU! My CPU was hitting 90c and now it's down to around 65. Got around 15 FPS boost as well with no visual change (that I can tell, anyway). You're a hero, mate.

In game the mod works great on the Steam Deck only issue I found is that at startup after it goes through its startup disclaimers and studio titles it's takes a while to actually get to the start/continue menu screen.

Remove the Improve Latency Engine.ini file if you're using it. (I see you downloaded it)

That's weird, and it shouldn't be like that. Well, don't use the mod if you don't have issues with stutter, etc
