  • Andoran Podcast #1

Yesterday, a video podcast with subtitles was uploaded to YouTube by the creators of Andoran. It includes some voice actors who voice some examples throughout the video, introduced by Ivan "TJ" Titov. For example, Evgeniy Sinelnikov, the sound director of Andoran, voices the Altmer, Dremora, and other things like a female Argonian. Another person is Oleg Varganov, who voices the Dunmer males; Elena Polonetskaya voices the female Dunmer. From 2:42 onward to the end, it shows clips from the mo...

  • Andoran trailer (mod)

Andoran is a lore-based mod for Oblivion. While playing this large mod, the player can do whatever they wish. Information and details found as you adventure will be important as you play. Some interesting things you may find are living pieces of cheese and water-walking horses, possibly part of the reason the creators have said that Andoran will show "the dark side of The Elder Scrolls". Every problem in Andoran can be solved in different ways. If you desire an item you can either kill the owner...

  • Interview with Tomerk, April's FotM winner (Liquid Water)

Tomerk's Liquid Water won April's File of the Month. There is an issue with the TESNexus voting which is currently preventing April's votes from being finalized, but Liquid Water was (and still is) the top vote earner with a current total of 58 votes. Update: That issue is now fixed; Liquid Water ended up with 59 votes. Continuing with the monthly feature, Tomerk has responded to our interview questions. You can read his responses below. Q: What was your inspiration for creating Liqu...

  • Unique Landscapes: Interview with Arthmoor

I recently had the pleasure of asking Arthmoor, one of the heads of the Unique Landscapes project, some questions about his work on these influential mods. I have been using UL since it was first released, and it has grown into a comprehensive re-imagining of Oblivion's greatest asset; its natural environment. See the interview below to learn a bit more about it. Q: Firstly can you introduce yourself, and tell us your role in the Unique Landscape series? A: I'm Roger, aka Arthmoor, and...

  • Interview with TheNiceOne, March FotM winner

TheNiceOne's Map Marker Overhaul won March's File of the Month with 61 votes. Continuing with the monthly feature, TheNiceOne has responded to our interview questions. You can read his responses below. Q: What was your inspiration for creating Map Marker Overhaul? A: When I first played Oblivion, I printed out several paper maps with locations of caves/ruins, etc. and marked the location with a red pencil when I had explored one. That was cumbersome, so when I discovered Map Markers Be Do...

  • Oblivion's 5th anniversary and a Bethesda podcast

Last Saturday marked the 5th year anniversary of Oblivion. Who knew? (I was travelling back from New Zealand at the time). Since that time The Elder Scrolls Nexus has amassed 22690 files for Morrowind and Oblivion. Have a favourite Oblivion memory? Whether it's from before you knew about mods, the first mod you loaded, or the countless hours spent trying to set the mods up so that your game didn't crash every ten minutes, share them with us in the comments section. Bethesda has also rel...

  • Levitation in Skyrim available for three hundred dollars

IGN has interviewed Todd Howard about Skyrim. While there is not a lot of new information Todd confirms that levitation will be available as a download for three hundred dollars, that unicorns will be available for one hundred dollars and that we can ride dragons - but not in the ahem traditional way. It has some new screenshots. He also explains how Bethesda has created a 'new engine'. We've always used a lot of our own stuff, mixed with other middleware that we liked. Coming off of...

  • First Skyrim in-game trailer

At the end of a countdown started yesterday, Bethesda has released the first in-game trailer for TESV: Skyrim. The trailer shows some of the new features we've been hearing about: improved combat, dragon shouts, finishing blows, more diverse magic, etc. I also spotted flowing water, NPCs working around a windmill, and some visually unique locations. You'll also get to see how the new Creation Engine looks and hear a longer version of the Skyrim main theme. Oh, and dragons. Watch below or o...

  • Creation kit release confirmed for Skyrim

Some of you might have thought that this was a given while others, like myself, wanted to wait for official confirmation from Bethesda before we got all excited and had to change our underwear. Today Bethesda have announced via their blog that there will indeed be an SDK for Skyrim. Here's the blurb: Bethesda has a long history of supporting the modding community, and for good reason. It’s a science fact that mod tools make the world a better place: they make modders happy because the...

  • Washington file server added

There is now a fourth file server available to download from located in Washington DC, USA. This brings the overall network connectivity for the Nexus sites up to some 3.2 Gbits. Having trouble downloading from the other file servers? Try the Washington one and spread out the load a bit. The Seattle and Dallas file servers will be taken off-line at separate times in the course of next week, for 24 hours at a time, while the hard-drive space is upgraded to accommodate the increasing number of ...

  • New file servers

The old file servers have been replaced with new servers and updated hardware that should be able to much better handle the load from all you folks who like to download so much. Twin 600GB SAS drives in RAID 1 are now handling your file serving needs on 1gbit lines. Lets see how this goes....

  • Changes to the comments section of files

After reading through the feedback provided for the new commenting system I have released an update to the system that should hopefully satisfy the worries expressed with the new system while still providing a mini-forum ability to those uploaders who are looking for some better and more organised feedback on their files. I have brought back the old "Comments" tab on files while adding a new tab to the file pages called "Discussions". All simple comments and feedback can be directed to the "C...

  • File servers down today

Rage. Pure rage. The two file servers are currently down due to an utterly avoidable situation at my file server provider. The down time will last at least 24 hours as all the files have been whiped and need to be synched back to the file servers from the UK servers; something that is prolonged by the slow transfer of the files across the Atlantic. As the premium file server is now in the UK it is unaffected, but small files are still served in the US where the servers are down so even pre...

  • File ratings reminder

I have added a notification overlay to display once every 7 days (by default) to remind all members to rate as many files as possible that they have downloaded by viewing their download history. You can tweak how often you get reminded to rate your files in your member preferences section, which also has the option to disable them altogether....

  • Rating system overhaul

As promised both on the forums and in recent news posts the rating system in the downloads area has been completely reworked and changed to suit the underlying rules and principles that this site revolves around. This update has been long in the coming and I've based my design choices on the feedback of literally hundreds of users on this site who have had their say on how they'd like to see the rating system changed (or in some cases, not changed). The story so far... First of all let me ...

  • Changes to soliciting ratings/file of the month votes

The matter of people requesting others to rate and vote for their files as file of the month has been discussed several times within the staff forums over the years. With the introduction of the files of the month section authors have begun to notice that they can get more people to vote for their files if they ask people to do it, and provide a link to the process, at the top of their file description. Now, this was fine because we made no mention of whether it was allowed or not. However I'...

  • Second file server now available

Thanks to the very kind donations put forward by certain individuals of the community recently I have set up a second 100mbit file server located in Dallas for general use. The site is eating through bandwidth at an astonishing rate and last month both sites used over 70 terrabytes (70,000 gigabytes) of bandwidth. Thanks again to all premium members who have made this possible....

  • Uploading files from the Japanese Community, If you do not have permission, please don't.

Recently there were several Japanese mods uploaded without permission. After numerous reports about the files being stolen/uploaded without permission the files were hidden from public viewing and downloading. Subsequently the mods have been deleted, as per the wishes of their authors/creators. I have spent the last several days making contact with the Japanese modding community trying to get permission from the various authors with some level of success. Most of the files in question ar...
