The Modern City Adventure is a full modern-themed conversion mod for Blade and Sorcery, powered by HuJohner’s Quest Framework. This experience allows you to scratch the itch of fighting in a modern world with modern weapons, utilizing all of this game’s amazing battle mechanics!

This experience is built using the Quest Framework, however there is no “story” in this mode. No talking NPC characters or fetch quests.  It is all ACTION!  And a bit of exploration as well.

You begin in your simple apartment.  You have a couple items/weapons at your disposal, but overall, you live lightly.



When you step out of your front door into the city, it’s time to FIGHT!  The city is populated with over 250 hostile enemies, ready to take you down!  Fight your way around the city, in any direction you choose - and stay alive as long as possible!  Will you choose to run head-first into battle and bash enemies with your trusty baseball bat?  Or will you be more stealthy, and sneak up on them from behind?  The choice is yours!





There is also a way to progress and get stronger in this arcade-style action mode.  There are over 55 weapons hidden all throughout the city.  When you find one, you will hear a special sound effect.  This means you now have this weapon available in your home, for you to equip and use in any of your future runs through the city! If you find EVERY weapon hidden throughout the city, you will be awarded with the ultimate weapon prize.  Who will be the first to claim the ultimate weapon?? Hidden weapons could be anywhere; in alleyways, in dark buildings, or even on rooftops! Leave no brick unturned!



The hidden weapons are completely optional, but do give a fun motivation to explore all around the city and fight your way through the different areas.  However, if you simply want to jump in and have a Grand Theft Auto style killing spree around the city, you can do that too! There are many areas to explore around the city, including: the downtown business district, the central park, the wave field, the sewage treatment plant, the viaducts, and much more. But remember - everyone in this city wants to KILL you!  There is a rumor that the hostiles have taken over a shopping mall somewhere in the city.  See if you can find it!



Because of the high number of enemy NPCs in this city, there may come a time where you experience performance drops.  If this occurs, find one of 15+ STOP signs at several main street intersections throughout the city.  Interacting with these STOP signs will “reset” all of the NPCs in the city, making them disappear. This allows you to start fresh and to improve your framerate.  It is highly recommended to utilize the stop sign directly outside of your apartment before venturing further into the city.  NOTE: Please continue standing near the STOP sign after activating it, and allow about 10-seconds of slow frames for it to reset all NPCs in the city.



Another good practice to keep framerate reasonable is to kill all NPCs that appear around you, instead of leaving them alone.  NPCs are programmed to appear when you get within 50 meters of them.  However, they will not disappear if you ignore them and proceed, which will result in lower performance over time.  If this starts to occur, find a stop sign in the city and reset the NPCs to start fresh.

REQUIREMENTS:
Just like my Vibrant World Adventure mod, this mod has a lengthy list of requirements.  However, I hope you find the work worthwhile, to feel like you’re in a truly modern world that is completely transformed from the regular Blade and Sorcery experience!  The requirements are as follows:

• I Need a Weapon - Halo Weapons Pack
• Fisher’s Elemental Handguns and NPC Waves
• Flashlight
• Am_apartment map
• GM_BigCity map
• The Mall map
• Ghetto’s Tactical Clothing
  

**Other mods are welcomed into this experience, as the focus is truly on FUN!!!**

INSTRUCTIONS:

• After downloading the ZIP, extract the folder (without the numbers!) into your Mods folder.
• YOU MUST ADD A NEW CHARACTER UNDER QUESTS MODE! (Not Sandbox!) If you do not create a new character with quests mode, nothing will happen when loading the game.
• Please avoid using the Portable Books mod for this experience. Because the goal is to slowly find more weapons for your arsenal by searching the city - simply spawning the most powerful weapons kinda ruins the fun.  But if you really wanna do that, you are welcome to do so.
• If performance ever gets low, locate a stop sign in the city and click through its pop-up message to reset the NPCs.  This should help performance due to too many NPCs spawned.
  

KNOWN ISSUES:

• Enemies sometimes have super speed; still investigating the issue.
• This mod is intensive on performance due to the quantity of NPCs. Please use the stop sign functionality mentioned above to improve frame rate if performance drops.
• You are required to go to an “Entryway” after exiting your apartment, because the Quest Framework requires 2 spawns into a map for the NPC spawning to work properly. Thank you for your patience in having that extra load screen!
