    I have just tried my eighth Smooth Stone mission since I last update, I am not playing the current low vis version. This time although on a lyran planet and the OpFor was the local Government I ended up facing three 200t Clan Super Heavies and two 150t Clan Super Heavies and you can guess the result, all four of my Clan Assault Mechs were torn to shreds.

    These mission are described as there being a Super Heavy undergoing test, single Super Heavy and you can expect up to ten supporting mechs and vehicles ranging from light to assault, not multiple Super Heavy Mechs and Vehicles.

    The Mod is becoming too fanatical, with things being brought into the game that were rarely used in either the miniatures came or earlier computer games. These were optional hard core rules. Now that is fine for an option if people want to play that way but I can be pretty sure many would at least like a choice as to whether the do so.

    And while all this effort is going into turning the game into the most fanatically obscure version of Battletech possible, core elements like the Shops are not works and it appears never will. I think the Moders need to take a deep breath and look at the mod. Rather than continue down the current rabbit hole they are, they should look to ensuring all the basic element of the game work and set the game up so that many of the latest additions are optional.

    I have always loved Battletech from its earlies beginnings when the boxed set cam with two proper plastic model kits of a Griffin and a Shadow hawk and the game was set well before what became known as the Forth Successor War. The Moders have done a great job with Roguetech and I have enjoyed literally hundreds of hour playing the mod but thing are going to far and changes are being made for changes sake, meeting the desires of the Moders and giving little thought to what the player want.

    Please take a step back and consider the playability of the Mod and what will create the greatest appeal and enjoyment for the many people who play it, please.

      No I lost every single one but initially they were a challenge, but after repeatedly facing multiple Super Heavy Units and having my lance of Level 10 Sharpshooters, all in Clan Assault Mechs have there arses handed to them it has become no fun at all. I can take down two of three of the Super Heavies and/or a couple of the "Lighter" Assault Mechs but in the end my Mechs are simple battered to pieces. I have tried using cover and maximum evasion but to no avail. In the past facing a single Super Heavy plus eight or so Assaults and a few lighter Mechs, nearly all elite was a fun challenge and worth the risk. Now it is like banging you r head against a brick wall. I know I can simply choose not to play these missions, but they were a fun challenge and a bit different.

      well try another lance setup maybe..i allways take 1 or 2 gladiators with maxed out electronics and melee...smooth stones is tough as fk but doable.

      I get 4 smooth stone missions. First with one 200t mech - do it with lost hand of one mech. Second with 2x 150t mech do withought problem. Third I see 4x 200t and 3x 150t, imediately escape.
      And my last was with 3x 200t, 4x150t vehicle and 4 standart mechs (3x 40-60t, 1x100t). I do it only with small inferior damage on one of my mech.
      I use 4 100t mechs. No omnimechs (do not like them because automatically loose 7 positions for internal structure and cannot change gyro for better)
      All mechs are fast (375-400t reactor) with XXL(C), -5t internal structure which halves lifes of internal structure, all have M.A.S.C. and invisible armor. I am really fast and on max move in easy terrain I get 8-10 pips.

      I have:
      2 close combat specialists (2x Obsidian Skull - removed jumpers, close combat weapons + tag + tsemp canon)
      1x heater (Danielle, 5x Plasma Canon)
      1x Head Hunter (Kodiak, 5x Pulse LL(C) all in one hand, +3 acc upper hand accurator, +1energy weapons acc second hand, +5acc computer)

      Obsidian Skulls cripple target, usually give instability and remove pips. Heater give +125 heat and immediately shut down. And Head Hunter is usually head hunting. But in this mission usually destroy side torso of superheavy - easiest way to kill superheavy.

      That Obsidian Skull kill 60tons or less on one punch. 100t kill on one punch with 33% probability. Problem is to have a lot of pips. I usually hit one mech and next round go attack another mech who is as distant as possible. Do not finish the same mech because I need to move.

      When think about this last superheavy mission I was lucky. There was a lot of moutains. And I never fight with more than 4 mechs/vehicles. I firstly destroy 1 superheavy + 3 normal mechs. After destroying move to next location and start fight another 200t superheavy + 2x150t vehicles. Finally arrived last 200t superheavy, another 2x 150t tanks and standart mech. Each group I fight about 3 turns.

      Worsest are these 150t vehicles. Can not be overheated, tons of armor and they are accurate. That superheavies never hits me - poorly designed, unprecise weapons, but these vehicles nearly do dogmeat from one of my mech.

      Ok will try the next one I see with a couple of close combat specialist Mechs and will see what happens. I do love this game but my head was starting to hurt after banging it repeatedly against a brick wall.. By the way I am still waiting for my Daishi to turn up.

      This says it all I really couldn't agree more! The mod was amazing 6 months ago, now it feels like the modders wet dream of BT.

      I always thought BT was based on LosTech and the joy etc of finding a rare mech or equipment. This is just cash and carry for BT & when the modders only seem reply with salt and nothing remotely close to replying to any genuine critique, I find it a waste of my time to carry on using their mod & will using others until this gets back to some semblance of balance, fun and back to feeling like real BT not this cash and carry where every single shop has tech that even Clanners would be envious of even in 3070..
