  • Your starting mechs are extremely important to your immediate survival. Tread cautiously until you gain strength.
  • The skill trees are very different, with new abilities and vanilla abilities removed, like Bullwark (as an ability).
  • Movement mechanics are altered, whereby you can now sprint and still attack, including sprint-melee.
  • Support weapons no longer fire with melee attacks. Specialised Melee exist for this.
  • Overheating no longer causes damage to structure, instead you roll to save against ammo explosion and shutdown.
  • There is a LOT of equipment not seen in vanilla. Sarna has everything explained (http://www.sarna.net/wiki/)
  • You will experience horrible defeat, without practice and planning. Stick with it.

I love the concept, and I *REALLY* want to like this mod... But good God, some of the design decisions in this game are masochistic to the point of being blatantly autistic.

I mean... I'm sorry... But how, *IN THE ACTUAL F***K*, do my mechwarriors manage to regularly miss melee attacks on enemy mechs that are lying FLAT ON THEIR BACKS ON THE GROUND??? That just straight up shouldn't be a thing. Yet, somehow, the AI can't seem to miss a single shot on my priceless Ifrit heavy combat helo. There's RNG, and then there's... Well, this.

"Hur, hur, our game is hard because the computer cheats, and your guys' rolls have been nerfed to the point where they literally can't hit the broad side of a barn from 10 feet away" doesn't really feel like legitimate difficulty. It feels arbitrary, artificial, and unfair.

Is there a way to tone this down?

I loved this MOD when it first came out and certainly spoke up about it. Now,...its just not fun anymore. A challenge is great and I'm no stranger to tactics, I drove a real tank in the Marines.

However, the crappy drop locations, crappy intel all the time, always grinding away at ninja mech playstyle,.....makes no sense.
Even though this is a fantasy tactical game, I would think there was a way to get new content and implement it in ways that make sense.
    EXAMPLE:
Dropped with a lance of 3 - 100 tonners and a 75 ton brutal punchbot,...Smooth Stones. The original Smooth Stones was Challenging but beatable with sound tactics, and patience.

Today, I faced,...3 - 150 ton Mechs, 3 - 200 ton mechs, 3 - 195 ton vehicles, and two medium mechs, evenly placed RIGHT in front of us and Right behind us.! (1735 tons total drop weight for the enemy) That's, a bit more,...than the weight I brought.
Also, was placed in the very worst place on the map and was already essentially surrounded.
~Needless to say I shot my operations guy in the forehead for being a traitor when I got back to the Argo.

I know,....theres a lot of people who are uber good at this game thinking well, just run to a choke point and stay out of range and use snipers for 3% chance headshots,.......wtf?That is what your calling tactics? That's not tactics,..that's AI manipulation.Even in a fantasy game,....that was just so completely beyond any likelihood of being a tactical challenge. It just made no sense AT ALL.

How,...does my intel f*** up that bad? "One Super heavy prototype" Its not a prototype when they have six waiting! and to tell me, "theres the prototype up ahead,..you cant miss it",......but dipshite missed the other five when he dropped me in the middle of that nest of them.

So, challenges, - good,.... UBER KILLER LEVEL 2000,.....makes no sense whatsoever for a tactical game.

    What would make sense!?
    Glad you asked.

The Vanilla DEVs get off their ass and connect and respect with the fact that you found their flaws, and let you in there to fix the real vanilla issues and not just spackle them with little herds of 200 ton crabbies to make the dumb ass AI seem SUPER smart by beating you by,...SHEER OVERPOWERING FIREPOWER,..piloted by, yes, you guessed it,...predictable Gerrys Kids fresh from the telethon (DAMN they push the buttons hard on the joystick).!

The original game had lack luster, you blew that out of the water and made a masterpiece,..but your masterpiece is starting to crack with all the paint on it and spackle, and, Dungeons and dragons and stuff,..not sure if its even your fault.

There are no tactics to be used if your crew are traitors.( that's the only way this drop could have happened) Please add, Execute Dumbass Crew Mode so I can go swim in the 3G pool by my damn self and fly on auto pilot to a galaxy that makes sense.

    Thanks

This is not the "SPIRIT" your looking for,.....move along

I love this mod but am curious Do all the planets Skull level up when your mechwarriors go up in skill? I have found myself on several occasions where I gave a skilled Mechwarrior get killed and I've tried everything to keep fresh recruits alive...as in putting them in Fire support mechs and keeping them in the back line but they always die due to low skill level. I remember my first 3 skull went up against three Echidnae and the tore my lance to pieces. I have a habit of selling off alot of equipment and cutting loose Mechwarriors early in the game to save Cbills. And I find that when your Mechwarriors are around skill level 6 there more valuable than the mechs .

Hello. I spent some time and made
    SHORT LIST OF TIPS
down below. Just for you, friends mechwarriors. (ENOVA)

    - First suggestion - go play hardcore! Use default settings for difficulty (5 mech parts, normal-to-hard levels, e.t.c). It makes you feel real mercenary, not a dull lucky speedrunnin superman.
    - Take a 0,5-1 skull missions. 300-500.000 c-bills are just good for you at beginning.
    - Take care of yourself on the battlefield. Take the high ground, cover as much distance as possible, max rear armor of all your mechs,
    - Use "accurate" weapons. Pulse lasers ignores 2 evasion and gives +1 accurcy by default ("pulse accuracy"), streak-srm ignores 2 eva and gives +2 acc. Tag give +1 accurcy (tag even shoots in melee).
    - To have 1 mech with a couple heat-based weapons could be one of "the wei" to success. Inferno SRMs, flamers, Plasma cannons, arcwelder ...When enemy mechs overheat they START SHOOT LESS. Shutdown is also very possible.
    - Weapons like PPCs and AC/20s will miss A LOT without skills/special equipment. At start 6 med lasers are better than 1 large.
    - Choose wisely money or salvage:
--- "assasinate" missions are always with at least one good enemy mech, medium or higher. Choose salvage.
--- "escort"/"convoy"/"base" missions are often gives additional reward % for killing everything. Choose money.
--- "recovery" missions are very easy to success with 1 fast mech. Choose money.
    - "Multiple months" contracts. You get paid ONLY after all the months of your contract, not after every month. You gonna need at least 2 lances, 8 mercs and enough of money to survive this time. During contract you will have time to recover, but you never know how much.
    - Engines. All mechs have to have 10 heat sinks at minimum. If engine have it less inside, then you need to manually put additional HS somewhere in the mech. It weight 0 ton until you each 10 HS in the mech. SO it's not a glitch :)) it's a feature.
    - Jumpjets are much less op in this mod, since jumping may give you a lot evasion, but also impacts stability and massively reduces weapon to-hit chances.
    - Constructing mechs. By default the mod combines most variants into a single pool for purposes of building a new mech. If you had 4 parts from model "X-A" and you pick 1 part from "X-B" you will get a full "X-B" mech right away.

Hey there, just installed this mod and it's overwhelming :) in a good way.

My only issue so far is that I can't Sprint into Melee, considering this change was one of the main reasons I installed it, I find this vexing.
