Overview:

This is my take on Gale’s concept art armor. It isn’t 100% accurate, but I did my best.

Adds robes, gloves and boots to the game. See the mod images for different variations and details of them. Works only for body type 2.

When starting a new game:
Gale will wear the gloves, boots and the robe as a companion and as an origin character. His backpack is in his inventory for the alternative options.
In existing saves: His normal purple robe is replaced by the robe, but his gloves and boots aren’t in his inventory.  You will need to buy the backpack from vendors, or use summon tutorial chest mods to get it from the tutorial chest.

Gale’s Backpack:

Adds a backpack which has the visual sets to tutorial chest and merchants (see list below). It has all the variations for the robes and shirt, and also the default Act 1 set with stats. See the mod images for the variations.

UUID for spawning with console: 0477f835-8ac3-42a9-b60c-cd52022a49b7

If you use Item Shipment Framework, the backpack is spawned to your camp chest if you don't have it. Completely optional mod.

New spells and features:

Waterdeep Dweller (Boots) - Cannot slip on ice or grease.

Baneful spell (Gloves) - Whenever you deal damage with a spell, the target receives 1d4 penalty to saving throws if they don't succeed a Constitution saving throw. Works with AoE effects and also on allied creatures, so plan your spells accordingly!

Misty Step (Boots) - This lesser version of Misty Step doesn't teleport as far, but doesn't require a spell slot or rests to cast. Range: 6 (Act 2) / 9 m (Act 3) or 20 / 30 feet.

Disrupt the Weave (Gloves) -This spell is a level 5 Counterspell that doesn’t require a spell slot or rests to cast. Level 6 and above spells need to pass the usual Counterspell check to disturb the cast.

The stats in armors are supposed to be something similar as in the game, but more powerful versions as Gale is an ex-archwizard after all. If you aren’t happy with this, you can use Transmog Enhanced to apply the visuals to the armor sets you want to use. I wanted to provide these as an alternative if you can’t or don’t want to use the mod.

List of Merchants:

Act 1: Aarron the Halfling and Dammon in the Emerald Grove.
Act 2: Quartermaster Talli in Last Light Inn and Lann Tarv (the hobgoblin) in Moonrise Towers.
Act 3: Exxvikyap in Rivington (the dragonborn blacksmith merchant) and Sorcerous Sundries, either from Rolan or Lorroakan in the front desk.

You can also spawn the base versions of the armors with tutorial chest.

Installation:

Drop the GalesConceptArmor.pak under your C:\Users\(*User*)\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Mods
and install it with BG3 Modmanager preferably. I have allowed Vortex, but use it or any other mod manager with your own risk.

Needs ModFixer to work correctly.

It shouldn't matter where you put this mod in the load order. If you have any other mods that impact Gale’s visuals or starting equipment, place this mod visually above them in the mod list if you want them to take priority over this one.

Disclaimer: As an item mod, it might be that uninstalling this mod is impossible from saves that have this mod installed in. I can’t do anything about it as far as I know. Please keep this in mind when installing this mod.

Uninstallation:

Remove the GalesConceptArmor.pak from your mod list, save and export your load order and permanently delete the mod.

Known issues:

  • The Dyeable Robes and Shirts aren’t perfect. The details are very hard to work with, I will try to improve them further. Works best with dark dyes.
  • There will be some tearing and weird stuff happening with the weights around his stomach.
  • These are fitted for Gale, so visuals might not look great with githyanki and tieflings.
  • There are no visuals for the robe when examined or dropped, use ALT or the controller loot search to pick the robe back up if you drop it
  • The boots and gloves are discolored in character creation and level up screens
