Hi! So I got to his act 2 romance scene and the only line that triggers is the "There is nothing I'd like more". Sometimes it even cuts off halfway through and just progresses to the kiss. His dialogue keeps the normal responses when I uninstall the mod. Any ideas? I do have a couple other dialogue mods, but it seems like they shouldn't coflict since they edit different files. Your mod worked without issue last time I installed it in act 3. Maybe they changed something with the patches, or hotfixes?
EDIT: The loose files version works! Could be something with the pak then 🤔
Oh do you know which dialogue mods? Loose files take priority over the .paks and if the loose files worked but the .pak didn't it's possible one of your mods edits the files I did and didn't disclose that? If you send me screenshots of your mod load order I might be able to pinpoint which one! But the .pak has been tested and does work as well without issues for me, so there's probably something else going on, or another mod that could be causing issues.
Oh I thought Astarion's Greetings only edits his greetings, not his romance dialogue? So it wouldn't be editing the same files in that case! If it does edit any of the same files it would conflict with this one, but I'm not sure if it does. I think Kascayde's Where's My Hat mod might be a more likely culprit, though? The mod page doesn't say which files were edited, but it does mention cutscene editing, and the code for hiding armor, including hats and gloves is usually handled through the dialogue timelines, through something called TLShowArmor. (I have an explanation of how it works in my dialogue editing tutorial/sample mods here if you want to know more about it!!)
I'm guessing that mod might've had to edit all the timelines for the companions' kiss dialogue, which means it'd conflict with my mod (and likely all mods editing companions' kiss dialogue). This mod required adding some content to the timeline that might not be able to be accessed if another mod edited that same file, so you might want to try the .pak again without Where's My Hat installed! If that doesn't help try testing without Astarion's Greetings as well, and if you're still having trouble you might also be able to use the 50/50 method for narrowing down other potential mod conflicts. (That article is about the sims but the basic principle of removing half your mods at a time to try and narrow down which half of your mods has the issue still applies!) Let me know how it goes + good luck!!! 🍀🍀🍀
Ok, gave it a check and looks like it's the hat mod! Such a shame, but oh well. No need for 50/50 then (thank god for that, it's the worst 😂).
Using dialogue to change armors is such a weird way to do it! I've never seen a game do that, and I've poked around quite a few. Usually it's through like equipment presets/scripts, or just by pulling the current character equipment into the scene. Hey, the more you know 🌈
Oh I mean, armor isn't set like that through the whole game afaik!! I do think there's quite a bit that differs about the way BG3 handled cutscenes and dialogue vs other games, but thankfully it's not actually using dialogue to change equipment 😅 Scenes do pull the current equipment visuals into the scene, but TLShowArmor is a way for cutscenes and dialogue to toggle the visuals for them through time; the items aren't actually unequipped, just hidden. And they can be programmed with TLShowArmor to hide and unhide partway through the scene (and kisses are essentially mini cutscenes in this game! All dialogue is really; both cutscenes and dialogue are handled through the exact same system.)
This is often used in the game in romance scenes when characters need to undress, but it's also used to disable the visuals for headwear and gloves during kisses regardless of your settings for showing headwear, making the timeline edits for Kascayde's mod necessary to unhide them. It's a shame they're incompatible; thank you for letting me know! Since Kascayde's .pak is taking priority you'd need to use the loose file version to prevent her mod from overriding and breaking mine (.pak overrides don't seem to be consistently affected by load order), but me and a couple other modders have been testing some alternate methods that should hopefully make patching dialogue mods for compatibility easier, so hopefully that'll help in the future!
I saw this mentioned here before but this mod messes with the ascended kisses. It keeps the old version where Tav looks terrified. A fix for this would be greatly appreciated. 🙏
seconding this! its goofy af when my durge looks scared, lol. i mean this bro kicked a gith baby off a cliff and reminisces about eating dwarves... he aint scared of astarion being a little domineering
Hi, while I appreciate your feedback, due to personal boundaries, I will not be pursuing any work that involves Astarion's ascended storyline, animations, or data. Please keep this in mind for any future feedback or requests, thank you.
The mod was also not intended to have any effect post-ascension for him, and shouldn't unlock any different reactions afterwards. The mod can safely be removed mid-playthrough if need be, and you wouldn't be losing anything in doing so after that ending of his quest.
I'll be removing it then, thanks edit to add that i respect that, realized in the context after making this message that might tone might come off as clipped. different strokes for different folks
i play the game on the ps5 is there anyway that you could make it and or submit it to and onto mod.io for approval or whatever is needed so that i could use it
hi! has anyone tried to combine this mod with the new Astarion's Greetings Edit ??? i would like to think they are compatible as one of them is for kiss lines and the other for greetings but knowing the soundbanks in this game have things bundled up in them i wonder if both mods touch the same files, thus conflicting :(
If it's just editing greetings, they probably are compatible! They wouldn't be editing the same files. Also, voice lines actually aren't run through soundbanks for the game, they're unique in that way! If you'd like to know more about that, and dialog files in general, I've got a few guides to dialog files, including adding new voice lines here!!:
Oh thank you so much! I will take a reading at these if just out of curiosity (I knew your mage already, he is so cute! >.<) I'm not into modding myself (too clumsy and too old to learn codings and that kind of thing...) but I have made some homework on the field of point-and-click lines (making some replacementes for my redemption durge's sudden hysteric laughters that came up with patch 7 and totally got on my nerves... aswell as 2 patch7 added spoilery lines) and their soundbanks are a complete mess... So at first it seemed obvious greetings and kiss lines had no reason to conflict, them being different things, but I remembered the week I spent combing the poin-and-click banks and wondered if maybe the dialog ones were also in such a sorry state... You make me very happy with this information! THANKS A LOT! <3
I had some issues with both these mods working together. Astarion would just say "there is nothing" then the kiss animation played. It was kinda funny but that's not what I want of course lol. so I deleted the pak version of this mod and used the loose files instead. Problem solved! Both the greetings and the kisses lines work perfect. Now idk if you would have had this issue, but in case anyone else does I thought I'd share my experience.
hi! i love this mod but when i am using the kisses mod and use the AA kisses on Astarion my characters face looks terrified (how it was before patch 7). When I remove this mod the face goes back to the new neutral faces. I like using the AA kisses because there is one that is my fave and this playthrough i did not ascend him. Was wondering if that was a quick fix? If not I completely understand.
so THAT'S why my durge looks terrified! i've been scratching my head trying to think of which mod that caused it. i guess for now it's taking out and putting it back to fix the expressions 😅
don't worry, I was confused about that too, but everything is alright. As long as it is in your files, it should work. The MM doesn't show some mods, that changes certain things in the game, but don't ask me why xD
Thank you so much for your work on your mods! I've been planning on downloading this for a future run, and I had a question. What sorts of changes from Patch 7 aren't implemented in the mod? Is it the bug fixes, the idle animations, or have there been other changes to Astarion's dialogue that aren't included in this mod just yet? I'm aware there hasn't been any testing yet (please take your time!), I was just wondering if you or somebody else had any insight on what it would be like to run this mod for Patch 7!

This mod is working with Patch 8! No update needed.
His dialogue keeps the normal responses when I uninstall the mod.

And here's the dialogue mods I use:
Dark Urge Tweeaks
Spawn Astarion - Epilogue Edits
Astarion Confession Edit 2
Astarion Act 3 - But you're MY leaking blood-bag
Astarion's Greetings<- this one looks like it edits the same files potentially? But I'm certain they worked well together a couple patches back. I recall getting both your lines and theirs.

(I'm crying)so I'll have to delete your lovely mod, thanks for trying
I've installed via the Mod Manager and can see it there, but I can't see it on the list of mods in the in-game mod "installed" list.
Any ideas? (Sorry, I'm new to all this).
Thanks!
