    Instructions for XRF Avernus
The preset is meant to be dark, accentuate lighting and enhance colors and sharpness for maximum immersion and peak visuals. I've baked XRF BG3 into an LUT to increase performance drastically, while also making some small tweaks that enhance the preset.

    • Drop all of the files from the zip archive into your Baldur's Gate 3\bin\ folder where reshade is installed
    • If your screen is black make sure you have XRF_LUT2.png in reshade-shaders -> Textures folder
    • If you actually want to see the fps improvement from XRF BG3 to Avernus, you will have to turn off RadiantGI (it tanks about 20-30 fps alone, but it looks cool AF so I added it for the ones that can afford to lose the fps)
    • Too dark? Adjust LUT.fx -> LUT luma amount
    • Too much colour for your liking? Adjust LUT.fx -> LUT chroma amount
    • My recommendation as a starter is 0.5 value for both luma and chroma and start adjusting from here.
    • I use the default LUT.fx values you've downloaded, which means 1.0 luma and chroma.
    • You have an annoying effect? It's probably chromatic aberration, turn it off.
    • You can easily customize this preset by adding other shaders on top, although it is not recommended as you will start tanking FPS, it is certainly a possibility you have now.

NOTE: XRF Avernus was created with the purpose of being used with other games, not just Baldur's Gate 3, and replacing every other unoptimized garbage preset. So, with that said, do yourselves a favor and try it out in every single game you want to reshade. Same instructions as for BG3, just make sure XRF_LUT2.png is in your reshade-shaders -> Textures folder or you will have a black screen. You might end up thanking me in the end.
If you want more details on this, do not shy away from my discord channel.
I am working on creating an ultimate general preset that can look very good, no matter the game it is applied on, without losing all your fps in the process.

Some updates might come later as I progress a second time through the game, if there are issues. The preset has already been tested on multiple games, and aside from Hogwarts Legacy, most games don't really have issues that can't be solved by adjusting the LUT.fx values.

FPS with XRF BG3 ~90 - FPS with XRF Avernus ~110 with RTGI and ~ 137 without RTGI. Overall a massive improvement.

There is a video showcasing the Avernus preset, on the main mod page.

Wondering how this preset affects performance?

I honestly wouldn't know, like stated in the description, the preset was made on a 4070. I can run the game on 2K ultra without DLSS and it doesn't affect me, so I couldn't tell you.

I use a 1660 super, there's a 10 fps drop i experience in certain areas. Could also be on my end because I run a ton of mods but so far so good and the shade is amazing too. Would never go back to other shades.

Glad you enjoy it! Not sure about the fps drops because the game doesn't tax my current system enough to experience them myself to be honest. That said, I'm on an RTX4070 with a 13th gen CPU so... But if you're past act 1, I hear the game might have some performance issues.
