***Fully tested with old saves (Even one from August 2023) with no crashes or errors, with various other mods with no conflicts and new game start.***
Changed mod name to Stronger Vampire when Fed (Improved) - Other version of the name seemed way too long and this is simple and descriptive.
Changed a spell power Charm Person (Single Person Charm Spell) to Umberlee's Praise (AOE Charm Spell)
This version is a PAK file and has no visible conflicts of CTD with old saves when used. Took a basic rebuild to fix those issues but feel I made the mod so much better by doing so with the way it works!
Bite from Astarion inflicts Bloodless as normal but also gives the ability of Vampire Bite. With this ability being tied to Bloodless: it will go away on a long rest unless.. you decide to embrace your darker tendancies and feed. Upon feeding you gain Undead status and are now fully a vampire with the ability to permanently have the skills to use Vampire Bite, Vampire Claw attack and Dark Vision. Upon feeding you will gain the full powers of a vampire which include Mist Form, Shapechange to humanoid, Speak with Dead, Summon Undead from dead body, Bat Form and Charm. In addition, while you are fed, you heal while in shadow conditions at 5 HP + Level per Turn.
To load that mod: Download and swap with this one as they both use the same UUID settings and numbers.
Astarion has the dialogs for both the Dark Urge character and Astarion in the game as the Astarion Dark Urge has both of the Tags as Dark Urge and Astarion.
For example: Waking up in the ship is like the Dark Urge (covered with blood splatter and no memory) but when he wakes up from the fall on the beach he has the narration about the sun's effects not bothering him. In addition, the first dead body then does the dialog for the Dark Urge to remember about last time he was around a dead body.
Have fun playing either way (Dark Urge Astarion or normal with Improved Vampire abilities) in the game!
This mod made my game more difficult than I wanted, couldn't heal Astarion cuz he was undead lol. And I forgot I installed it and couldn't figure out why EVERYONE was a vampire.... Astarion bites enemy.... enemy very quickly becomes vampire and then bites my team members... suddenly no one can be healed with spells yay. I might have been doing something wrong or it conflicted with another mod. Thankfully removing it did nothing to my save.
Have a more updated Vampire mod that allows Choice of a Light Version or Normal. Can summon a wolf with this one and some powers are now level based with the new mod.
You can also choose to play Astarion from the beginning as a DARK URGE Character. He has the dialogs for both the Dark Urge character and Astarion in the game as the Astarion Dark Urge has both of the Tags as DARK URGE and ASTARION. Dark Urge has the ability to choose their Background as it is unlocked but do have Haunted as able to select along with Trickser Headonist from the backgrounds.
Bite from Astarion inflicts BLOODLESS as normal but also gives the ability of VAMPIRE BITE. With this ability being tied to BLOODLESS: it will go away on a long rest as normal in the game.. unless you decide to embrace your darker tendencies and feed (Using VAMPIRE BITE). Upon feeding you become a full vampire with the ability to permanently be a vampire (unless you die and have to be resurrected).
Also, upon feeding you will gain additional vampire powers from being fed and powers of the Main/Master vampire can strengthen when standing in darkness or shadows.
Abilities Gained from Bloodless when Bitten (Removed on long rest):
Vampire Bite: Have the ability to feed on blood with VAMPIRE BITE to gain the HAPPY effect and become a "Full" Vampire if you feed while BLOODLESS. If you never feed with the VAMPIRE BITE while BLOODLESS. You don't become a vampire, so BLOODLESS will removed on long rest like normal with no long-term effect. This way Astarion can bite people in party in camp cut scenes (or for normal feeding) and no one becomes a vampire automatically (Only when they feed while BLOODLESS).
Base Abilities as a Full Vampire Who Has Not Fed (Permanent):
*** Do be aware that the Bloodless effect and other powers can impact NPCs as well so be careful who you feed on in battle or you may find yourself in a fight with a full vampire as well***
***Lowered damage from Bite and Claw attacks to where they will not become too overpowered as you do gain damage as you level. Removed Shadow Teleport (As you can already fly), Removed Create Undead (As it automaticlly has a chance to occur with a claw attack and create a Temp Zombie) and made it to where you can summon a wolf companion to fight with you. Also, made it so that some powers are gained as you level***
Tag of Vampire: This is given permanently upon first feeding from when they have BLOODLESS. Sets them as TAG VAMPIRE , though not shown on character window Vampire Bite: Vampire Bite Damage now at (1d6+Level of Piercing and 1d6+Level of healing at the same time), Gain the HAPPY effect from being fed. Claw Attack (Gained at character level 4): Claw Attack at (1d8+Level, Slashing with inflicting Crawling Gnaw on Constitution check fail at lower than 8 which will make the creature under this effect a zombie if they die). Bonus Damage (Weapon and Unarmed): Weapon and Unarmed Damage Bonus at (1+Level, Piercing) Dark Vision: The Character can see in the dark (24 Range) Transform into Mist Form: The Character can transform into MIST FORM. Speak with Dead (Gained at character level 2): The character can speak with corpses and ask questions of the dead Disguise Self: The character can shape change into other humanoid races (Dwarf, Tiefling, Human, Elf, Half-Elf, Half-Orc, Halfling, Gnome and Dragonborn) Vampire Resistances: Resistant to Necrotic (Immunity to shadow curse damage) and Poison. Vampire Vulnerabilities: Vulnerable to Radiant Darkness Spell (Gained at character level 6): The spell works like the standard Darkness spell in the game. Summon Wolf (Gained at character level 4): Summon a single wolf companion, once per long rest (Will go away at Long Rest). This will summon a Shadow Mastiff in the Shadow Cursed areas instead of a normal wolf (Still in testing but should work). Performance: Can play a musical instrument.
Effects from Happy Status After Feeding (Removed on long rest):
Advantage on Rolls: Character rolls 2 dice and takes the highest of the two for the roll. (This applies to Ability checks). Vampire Healing: Character regenerates health at 5+Level per tick/turn (Update 2.5: In light and dark conditions) Vampire Potence: Character gains a +2 bonus to Strength, Intelligence, Wisdom, Dexterity, Constitution and Charisma. Carry Capacity: 2x the normal amount of weight. Transform into a Bat: The Character can transform into a BAT and even attack by bite in that form. Umberlee's Praise: CHARM PERSON in 10 ft Radius and impacts multiple NPC's at one time Permanenty Fly Ability: The character always has the FLY option without casting the spell Vampire Immunities: Immune to Necrotic (Immunity to shadow curse damage) and Poison.
Abilities gained while in the Cover of Darkness (Lost when under Sunlight Sensitivity):
*** This only impacts the Main/Master Vampire character and Vampire Spawns do not get an impact from this ***
Advantage on Attacks: Character rolls 2 dice and takes the highest of the two for the roll for Attacks. Automatic Mirror Image in Dark Conditions: The spell works like the standard Mirror Image and happens automatically in dark conditions with one duplicate version of the character as the mirror image spell (Not the standard 3).
Should you desire a few more options or need to not have Astarion look like his normal self.
Doesn't include +2 to stats, no health regen and removed the spell for Create Undead and Mass Charm Person . Also has restistance to poison and necrotic damage (Not Immunity) which balances vulnerability to Fire and Radiant damage. Also, no advantage rolls on everything.. forgot to include that as well.
Have played this one and it is much more balanced but fun with vampire abilities and being able to infect others. Also, no feathers swirling around with Fly ability. Fly is only when fully fed on this one with Happy in effect.
Hi, please make me happy by providing a version with the last changes (including improved compatibility with other mods) but without turning other Party members to Vampires as well. I'd prefer them to just have that bit of blood loss (SPOILER END OF GAME: for my next playthrough I want to romance Astarion and He shall turn me only at the end of the game)
Just to understand what you are requesting.you want to have it where only a specific party member is turned but others are just bitten and fed on? The way it is setup now.. The only ones turned are those bit but can look at that option for you.
In the playthrough I am doing now have only bitten Shadowheart and no one else is fed on. To get the Happy statuss: I am feeding on NPCs in battle so that only Shadowheart if impacted.
Anyone bit gets bloodless effect and vampire bite ability, until long rest. Then it goes away and they don't become a full vampire after long rest like it normally does. They only fully become undead and a vampire if they feed during this time while they have bloodless.
I use the ring (either from https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/6546 or https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/5690) that gives Astarion a 'remove Bloodless' spell.
Does the ring mod for removing Bloodless work with my mod? Any conflicts on those?
Bloodless will go away on long rest and thus you never become a full Undead vampire if you never feed (Bite Someone): Should you be Shadowheart, Laezel, Wyll, etc..
Just wanted to make it more like a real effect from being drained.
Should you bite someone while bloodless: You will become permanent Undead/Vampire with all the abilities that go with it. The only way to not be a vampire after that is to die and get resurrected with a scroll or Withers; which brings you back clean of Undead/Vampirism.
Shadowheart/clerics have access to "Lesser Restoration" (at lvl2/3) spell which cures "Bloodless". So set up a tag-team in your camp using your vamp to feed and SH to cure.
That would free up the ring slot for something else/better.
Remember that if you feed on the other party members: They are not vampires until they feed on someone else while Bloodless. Otherwise, Bloodless effect is just like before and goes away the same way for them.
This is not a complaint or a request for compatibility. I just thought it was funny and wanted to share. I have an AI mod because I don't know anything about DnD and suck at strategy. When I have this mod and Astarion on AI, the first thing he does is turn the strongest enemy into a bat. That NPC will, of course, bite the nearest enemy. And if that character is not my player character, who would be the only person not under AI, then they will bite the nearest enemy, and next thing I know, it's bats everywhere! ^_^
Okay, that's slightly exaggerated. But I just had the big goblin fight outside the temple of Selune yesterday and there were no less than five bats, including my player character sometimes, on the field. And since the only person I can control is my PC because of the AI mod, it got a little crazy. Anyway, I thought it was hysterical, because I have a weird sense of humor and wanted to give anyone using an AI mod a heads up that this might happen.
I haven't downloaded 2.0 yet so not sure if it's still a thing.
Never ran into that issue before but with the AI that would possibly make some strange things happen in the game. Let me know if it happens in 2.3.
As the way the effects are applied: It may not happen in that version as the early versions would allow you to infect others in the game that also included NPCs.
So I downloaded the latest version and loaded an earlier save, and Astarion was still changing enemies into bats left and right. And they turn my people (including me) into bats. I'm pretty sure it's the AI and your mod not playing well together. Like I said, I'm not complaining. I think it's funny. But it does make battles a little difficult because I can't dismiss the bat shape on anyone but my player character. So... yeah. ^_^
AI Allies. https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/4351?tab=files Though not the latest version apparently because I Nexus hasn't told me there was a new version until I looked for it just now.
Confirmed no conflict with "Stronger Vampire When Fed (Improved)" and "Astarion's Vampire Bite no short rest" as long as the first mod is higher in the load order. That being said, AI really loves biting people after being bitten, so watch out for vampire goblins if you do this and use the bites often
I think the reason this is occuring it that bloodless effect occurs on anyone bitten (Even NPCs). So, they, with the AI control, decide to bite others to increase their powers by becoming a full vampire who is fed.
On normal play with just a single bit per long rest and no AI: There is not this issue because I typically feed while in camp or sneaking around. That way I don't have the chance to infect my opponents with vampirism in combat. Being that the bite is limited to once per long rest on the normal settings of the mod, without the mod that sets the bite to unlimited; you would not have the option to bite again until after a long rest. That would not let that happen with the NPCs.
I'm new to mods and it's not my language, maybe I need to learn more before trying it out, but I want to use this mod in conjunction with other mods for my current campaign. Regarding the install instructions, can I use BG3 Mod manager to install the Astarion vampire pak file? I can figure out how to put it into the mod folder itself.
Secondly, it says to adjust the modsettings.lsx file, as I said, this isn't my language. Does that mean I have to replace what is in the original modsettings.lsx file and therefore would mess up the other mods I have installed? Any clarity would be helpful, much appreciated.
To use the mod: I typically install by updating the modsetting file. Adding this mod is just to add the mod settings for this mod to the last entry on the file. Have not tried the modmanager so not sure how it works installing from there.
Add this as the last entry under Mod Order section:
I just wanted to add that I think this makes a lot of sense and is a quality touch. Astarion even tells you something along the lines of "Just wait till I am well fed" or something along those lines, basically implying a performance boost. Nice job, Lux_Aurea.
I hope that you enjoy the mod and it has been a labor of love, with the slow progressions in creating mods until this one as I got better with understanding the way the game works.
Tested with old saves that go back all the way to patch 4 that I had been playing and didn't have any CTD or other issue

You can also infect others with Bloodless and if those characters feed they can fully turn to a vampire as well.
This version is a PAK file and has no visible conflicts of CTD with old saves when used. Took a basic rebuild to fix those issues but feel I made the mod so much better by doing so with the way it works!

If you used the this mod before on the save you are wanting to play; it should be fine. For people that are using the mod for the first time on a saved game... a new game will still need to be started instead. It appears to be due to changes made to spell powers.
Hi yeah so I checked your mod and I think the main problem is it's not made into a separate folder like most other mods. Instead you put it in Gustav which, from experience I can tell, that it'll break most other mods even ones that don't have any connection with Astarion's Vampire Bite ability.
So I copied your code from the .txt files(sorry for doing this without permission, I promise I won't misuse it) and I place it into an existing .txt file from another mod that has a separate mod folder. Voila it works perfectly, I used it in an existing playthrough and there hasn't been any problems. also it's fully compatible with any playthrough.
Will have to check on that when I have time tonight. Was never as good with the PAK file versions but hope to have that fixed. Thank you for the information and hopefully this will help with getting the mod out as a PAK file quicker!
2.0 tested with old saves that go back all the way to patch 4 that I had been playing and didn't have any CTD or other issue. Old playthrough is fine to use with the mod now!

Also have another version of this mod that lets you have Astarion as the Dark Urge in addtition to the normal vampire powers of this mod.
