I wish this mod still got updated. There are some small annoyances with it that make it feel off to use. I just miss the +1 to all stats humans get. Sometimes I wanna be MAD.
I absolutely love this mod. Adds a lot more character back to vanilla races.
Just wanted to ask would it be possible to make it only affect vanilla races, or maybe create patches for them? With this mod installed modded races don't get either fixed or floating points and just get reduced ability scores from the start
upd: nvm, i found a way to patch it into aasimar mod
Love this mod. Its basically a must have fix for humans and half elves. Like I don't mind the new stats everyone gets but the humans and half elves identity was tied to their stats more than other races. To the point Variant human takes those stats away to give you a feat. They tried to replace it but did so with proficiencies worse than a single level in a martial class, some carry weight and a skill prof. Basically making human martial classes just plain bad compared to everything else. Half elves also make no sense with the changes. Worse yet adding variant human with mods feels too good now because the things of value it was supposed to take away are already gone. It just bugs me that they committed to this route without considering that maybe light armor and some weapons wasn't enough. They could have given martial weapons and Medium armor without breaking the game. I get they didn't want everyone playing a human but they made it a little too unappealing. Even with the changes back I still find myself not impressed by humans but at least its no longer actively bad and provides something compared to the cool stuff races like Githyanki and Tieflings get. Something you will actually use and that enables builds rather than just discouraging going into fighter.
Wow, Sorry for the rant. I just got so annoyed when I realized humans were so terrible if you wanted to do the classic heavy armored warrior playstyle. Which is frankly all I ever want even on my casters. Heavy armor is just so cool. If this mod added variant humans it would be perfect.
Hi! Thank you again for this mod, half-elves would be unplayable for me without it :) (the civil militia feature Larian came up with for them makes no sense to me lore-wise).
I'd like to ask if you have any plans to update this mod in the future to correct some of the inconsistencies it still has with PHB (gith missing astral knowledge, Wood half-elves not getting stealth proficiency and the tiefling Thaumaturgy issue others have pointed out).
I've looked through comments, and I see several requests for Variant human, so I won't beat on a dead horse too much - but I wanted to say it would even be amazing as a "new" race choice, it doesn't have to be a subrace at all! I know there are already some mods out there that add new races, so perhaps a simpler version of something like this could be a template https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/1824
...either way and regardless, thank you again, good modder. :)
Problematic figures of speech aside ("dead horse" wow, how offensive), that might be a resource that could help me, but when I could make it depends on how complicated/difficult it is for me to study it and how much work is required to make it. Certainly less work than an entire new race with models and everything, but the main roadblock I came across is that the function that enables the feat selection on the level up screen doesn't work when in a race, only works in the class blocks. Maybe the improved UI can help solve that, but again, depends on the scope.
Greetings, first of all thank you for the great mod, it's very nice to be able to use PHB's scores, especially since I was looking to make use of Human racial +1 to all stats.... but, unfortunately, this is exactly where my problem lies in... while trying to create a new character, I noticed all races are getting their modded scores as intended except for human, which doesn't get any ASI at all, I even started the game with the character to see if it was just a character creation bug, but it still didn't worked. Would it be possible for you to check if this is an actual bug?
For reference, the only racial mods I'm using are "Tiefling Unleashed" and "Human Unleashed". I've checked the tiefling to see if it could be a problem with the "Human Unleashed" mod, but it doesn't seem like it since the tiefling did get the ASI's as intended and both "Unleashed" mods are made by the same creator.
I've two different human characters that I've ran with this mod. If you have a bug, it's probably with the conflict with "Human Unleashed". The mods are almost certainly gonna have conflicts, but what results those conflicts produce, I can't predict, and it probably also depends on the load order. Both "Unleashed" mods being by the same creator but one not causing a bug is coincidence
I see, thank you for the insight onto the matter, I think I will be sticking to the ASI revert since unleashed mods are kinda broken and I wanted to test a more fun build lmao.
I dont think he is gonna make it.... Its prob even hard to implement a feat at first level (as you can see, all the mod about feats allow to give more feats after level 1...). What MAYBE is possible to do, is to give the extra feat at level 2 IF you can add feats based on race and not on class.
Yeah, tried that multiple times. If it was that easy, I or somebody else would have made it already. Maybe it is possible, but it's more that I could commit to so far and/or beyond me
I'd have to look in to it to confirm (when I'll have the time) but you remember this Improved UI mod?
https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/366
Modder Features ... Character Creation Layout tweaks: Allows for Feat selection once unlocked by another mod. Tip - "Allowimprovement" doesn't work on its own.
So this UI fix does allow for feat selection at first level, you'd just have to make your mod compatible with Improved UI and that would fix the issue.
Another option would be to do it the same way the old Variant Human mod did, by adding the feat selection at level 2 but that should be not necessary because Improved UI is pretty much a must have anyway. Could you please look in to it?
Also, here's the image of the Feat function from the UI mod.

Doesn't work, I can start the game with 18 CHA
EDIT: Ignore this, its because of a custom class.

edit. nevermind, drow unleashed overrode the changes
