Hi there, I gave this mod a try and decided it was too much. I disabled it in Vortex, but it still seems to be autosaving every 5 minutes. Is there a file I need to edit to get it to return to normal autosaving? Thanks!
It's a .pak file, so if you've deleted it and removed it from your load order there's no way it could still be effecting the game. I also have never used Vortex, so I can't provide support for it.
So, I've been tinkering with your mod and adjusted the timer to suit my preferences. I've also made it so it doesn't autosave during dialogues, which can be quite jarring. However, I'm struggling to detect native autosaves or those made by the player. It would be awesome if the 'modded' autosaves didn't happen right after any of these 2 (the timer would be reset, essentially). Native autosaves often happen after triggers, but that's just a correlation so I don't think it can be used. Do you have any ideas on this?
I'm trying to use the 15 minute version, but with that in my Active List BG3MM outputs an empty modsettings.lsx. Any ideas for a fix? the 5 minute version works, but that's a bit more often then I want.
From what I have found out in researching, this is because the ten and fifteen minute versions are apparently packaged incorrectly, as stated by LaughingLeader on commented on Aug 7, 2023 [table]Typically if the modsettings.lsx reverts when running the game, this is due to a mod being invalid (like it has an issue loading), in which case the game clears the active mods.
Is this happening to anyone else? Or is it just me?
Hello! Thank you for the report. Unfortunately I cannot replicate the issue that you're experiencing.
All three versions are automatically packaged by the BG3 Modder's Multi-Tool, and are done in the exact same way. The only difference between the versions is the names, the UUIDs(to make them appear as different mods in the mod manager), and the timings for the save timer.
I'm not quite sure what causes the issue for you, I'm very sorry for the inconvenience.
Thank you for this mod!! It saved my Honour playthrough when I kept forgetting to save, and my power went out randomly one evening! I cannot give enough kudos.
Additional question - has anyone confirmed if this mod works in multiplayer? I assume it should have no issue so long as the usual validation (same mods, same order, etc. etc. etc.) is completed, but wanted to confirm.
This is absolutely not a hate comment all, I just wanted to warn others that unfortunately even with the 15 minute setting my game quickly became so bloated that the frame rate was dragged down to like 2fps and my mouse couldn't even move across the screen properly. I shut the game down and it was still such a burden on my not-at-all-cheap computer that it took about 20 minutes for the lag to go away. Thankfully, removing the mod from my game did not break my save, as I one time had to scrap a save at almost 60 hours because removing a broken mod corrupted the whole thing. I use multiple hard drives for storage and have a combine 2.5 terabytes free across the three of them, so I don't think it's an issue of data storage. If you're not 100% sure your computer can handle it I would not recommend this mod.
There are two main parts of the code, the Osiris Timer, and the Osi.AutoSave call. The timer only runs while the game is running, and loaded into a level. The auto save call, is the exact same one that Larian uses for when they auto save the game. The first part could not cause an issue with your computer, unless the application did not properly close, and even then the timer can't run unless the game calls for it to start while a level is loaded. If the issue is with the Osi.Autosave call, then there is nothing I can do to fix this issue for you, as it is the exact one that Larian uses for the game.
What are your specs? I only have an R5 2600 and a 3060ti, and I don't experience this issue. I'm running the game off of an NVME drive.
I'll do some extensive testing and see what happens on my system. Thank you for reporting this.
EDIT: Fyren on the Larian Studios discord server has informed me that he has experienced this issue. It seems to happen when cloud saves are enabled. Once he turned off cloud saves the issue seemed to go away. Try that out, and let me know how it works for you!
I was just thinking of asking someone if this were possible last week and then I saw the other one that released yesterday but it was an .exe file which was sketchy to me and would presumably be need to run each and every single time you launch the game to work which I can imagine most people would forget to do (which totally defeats the purpose of an auto saving mod lol). So when I saw this and it's just a .pak I was so happy!
You're so welcome! I actually made this in response to the exe file that was uploaded yesterday. I didn't feel comfortable downloading that, but wanted functionality, and learned to make this.
Previous autosave mods have led to the game slowing down considerably with each subsequent save. If anyone using this can report back on whether that happens with this mod, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks again, Aether, for the awesome mod!
