Since there were a lot of questions about installation of this mod, here's a more detailed rundown:
1. Download chosen file MANUALLY, DO NOT USE ANY MANAGERS/DOWNLOADERS.
2. Put the file in the game's DATA FOLDER inside the INSTALLATION FOLDER (e.g. for users with Steam, it will be something like steamapps/common/Baldur's Gate 3/Data)
3. Right-click on file and choose Extract here (Note: For those who do not know, this is a RAR archive, which is opened by a variety of tools like WinRAR, WinZIP or Windows default unpacker).
5. The file should now unpack and AUTOMATICALLY create all the necessary folder structure.
It should look like this:
For Fast XP to Level 5: [BG3]/Data/Public/Shared/Stats/Generated/Data/XPData.txt
For Double XP: [BG3]/Data/Public/Shared/Stats/Generated/Data/XPData.txt [BG3]/Data/Public/SharedDev/Stats/Generated/Data/XPData.txt
Alternatively, you can unpack the archive wherever you want and then copypaste the unpacked Public folder with all its contents to the Data folder inside your BG3 installation folder.
Hello, I am running into the issue where I cannot level up to 7. My player is stuck at 6. Does anyone have a recommendation on how to fix it? Thank you
This is just how I do it. Works for me with no crashes, no reverifying game files, and I can easily change my leveling speed between my different saves in a few seconds. No idea if it's the best way or the worst way, but it works for me.
This mod is very simple, but a little different from other mods which is why I think people are confused. The only thing the file does is change a few numbers to make level-ups happen at lower XP values. It does not change the amount of XP you receive, you receive the same amount of XP with or without this mod. Do not delete anything. We are simply going to change the values back to default. Because those values are the entire mod, returning them to normal will accomplish what we want.
Disclaimer: This will not delevel your character. If you got up to level 5 too fast with the mod and only want to be level 2, this fix will not do that. It makes the leveling system unmodded again, but it will not readjust your level on an existing save. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Find your Baldurs Gate 3 game install folder where you extracted the mod to
If you're using Steam you can just go to the Steam library, right-click on Baldurs gate 3 -> properties -> Installed files -> Click the [browse] button next to where it says "size of installation:"
2. Open the first XPData.txt file to edit levels 1 - 5 (Down path of "Shared" file) Located at [BG3]/Data/Public/Shared/Stats/Generated/Data/XPData.txt
This file tells the game how much xp is needed to get to the next level. If you installed the double XP mod the values will be half of what they should be, and if you installed the quick to 6 mod they'll be really small.
Edit your XPData.txt file and change the numbers to match the following: key "Level1","300" key "Level2","600" key "Level3","1800" key "Level4","3800" key "Level5","6500" key "MaxXPLevel","5"
3. If you installed DOUBLE XP then your levels 6-12 also need to be changed. (Down path of "SharedDev" file) Located at [BG3]/Data/Public/SharedDev/Stats/Generated/Data/XPData.txt
Edit the numbers at the end to match the following: key "Level6","8000" key "Level7","9000" key "Level8","12000" key "Level9","14000" key "Level10","20000" key "Level11","24000" key "Level12","30000" key "MaxXPLevel","12"
4. Make sure to save your edits so they'll take effect and it should really just be that easy folks.

This method provides the same issue deleting the mod causes. Every time I launch the game and load in, my current level progression defaults to 85xp. I am close to levelling up, but both this method and deleting the mod cause this issue. For now I just have to keep the mod in the files with its modded values.
Will this make it possible to play with other people that don't have the mod installed? I want to just disable the mod to play with some friends but not have to reinstall the whole game
Amazing info. Tried to manually tweak the settings with some weird number, just to see that it's working and it does. This is also perfect if you want to make your own custom XP curve.
Thank you for the info, it has been helpful in understanding how this mod works and how to attempt to deactivate it.
After starting at level 6, the first act becomes really easy, but it's somewhat trivial considering that it's in acts 2 and 3 where the real action begins, and once in act 3, reaching level 12 a little earlier or later doesn't matter anymore.
What this mod really does is give you a boost to playing act 2 at +1/+2 levels above what the developers intended.
If someone doesn't want to reach act 2 at level 7/8, meaning level 6 (which is what the game is set up for), it's enough to, once you have the secondary characters in your group, save the game, exit the game, and either "rename or change the name" of the folder where we installed the mod (...steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\Data\Public\Shared\Stats\Generated\Data) or delete it directly.
By doing this, you maintain your level 6 from the start but your accumulated experience is much lower than the 13,000 you should have at level 6. NPCs lose their accumulated experience when left at the camp while traveling with you; they always do this in the vanilla game. With this mod, when you invite them back into your group, they regain the TOTAL EXP, but since that experience is not enough to reach level 6, their exp bar will be empty, at 0: Level 6, 0 exp, 8000 for the next level.
This is where the problem that people describe most often in this thread arises, that deleting or putting this mod affects the exp bar. Unfortunately, there is no solution for the NPCs.
For our AVATAR, it works differently because we can't leave ourselves at the camp and pick ourselves back up.
IN SUMMARY: * If you have installed this MOD... don't remove it in that playthrough. * To play multiplayer with friends or start another one, delete or rename the folder.
I want to change some value in the [---.pak] but there was a lot of Garbled code when i was tryying to open it with txt. Please tell me how to open the pak.
Working fine for me in patch 6 hotfix 19! First had problems, but realized I had accidentally enabled unlocklevelcurve, which doesn't work with this mod. Disabled it and working again :)
