Introduction

Both Sharpshooter and Great Weapon Master are powerful feats. Maybe even too powerful. However, they lack synergy with other elements of combat mechanics. Their relatively huge values outshine other attack and damage sources. And as they provide flat damage bonus it doesn't interact with critical hits or re-rolls in any way.

Description

This mod rescales Attack Roll Penalty/Damage Bonus for Great Weapon Master and Sharpshooter feats. Accuracy penalty is decreased to -4. Damage bonus is changed to 2d6 for Sharpshooter and 1d12 for Great Weapon Master. It also fixes vanilla game bug where Sharpshooter feat allowed to get bonus damage without the penalty when using offhand ranged weapon This means that:

  • Both feats now benefit from critical hits, effectively doubling their expected damage on them. This makes scoring critical hits with these feats more meaningful and satisfying.
  • Both feats now take advantage of the re-roll mechanics, for example Great Weapon Master now synergies with Great Weapon Fighting Style and Savage Attacker feat.
  • Expected damage bonus to accuracy penalty ratio is changed from 2 to 1.75 for Sharpshooter and to 1.625 for Great Weapon Master (before accounting for critical hits) for balancing purposes. Value for GWM is a bit worse, taking into account that there are more synergies for it.
  • Penalty to accuracy and bonus to damage are a bit lowered so that the feats didn't completely outshine other accuracy and damage sources.
