Sample Magic Ring Mod

This is my third sample equipment mod. If you are using these as modder's resources, check out the first Sample Equipment Mod first.

This mod is as simple as it is possible for an equipment mod to be. Unlike my two earlier sample/template mods, this mod doesn't add any custom visuals nor custom textures. Though even in this simple form, this sample shows how much fun can be had with low level modding BG3 equipment and spells.

This should be my final sample/template mod. With these three mods, it should be easier for new modders to get into BG3 Early Access modding.

Sample Magic Rings

This mod contains the following modded equipment.

Ring of Unlimited Fire. This ring contains modified Fire Bolt and Scorching Ray spells. They have no action nor spell slot resource costs. So you can unlimitedly spam them at your enemies.

Ring of Superior Healing Word. This ring contains a modified Healing Word spell. It heals 2d20 damage and has no spell slot requirements.

Ring of Proficiency. This ring grants its wearer all weapon and armor proficiencies.

Star Athlete's Ring. This ring raises its user's strength, constitution and dexterity to 20, gives +4 to athletics and acrobatics, and gives skill proficiency in both.

Magic Ring Location

You can find these pieces of equipment inside the same Mindflayer chest as the equipment in the first and second sample mods. Alternatively, you can purchase them from the Druid trader.

Mod File Screenshots

The gallery contains screenshots of all the files contained within this mod. The spells are shown with a comparison to the original vanilla spells. If the screenshots make any sense to you, then you should have the skills to start experimenting with BG3 modding.

The mod also contains the same file as the Full Release Mod Fixer, which has been required for PAK mods to work ever since Early Access. So this mod doesn't require the fixer. There is no screenshot of this file, as you do not need to make any edits to that file.

How To Install Manually

This is an educational mod, so instead of providing a detailed explanation of how to install mods manually, I will assume that you already know how to do this. If you do not, check another mod for details. For this section I will only explain where you can get the necessary mod specific information to install any mod manually.

To install any mod manually, you will need 4 pieces of information. The mod's name, folder, version and UUID. If a modder doesn't provide these, and you do not wish to use a mod manager, you can find all this information inside the ZIP archive. The archive contains a PAK file and info.json file. json files are just txt files so you can open them with any text editor, even Notepad. So open info.json and find the needed info. Folder and Name are almost always the same. The version number is usually just a random number that doesn't have anything to do with the mod's current version, so you do not need to update the version number if you update the mod. UUID is the mod's unique identification number.

You need to make the necessary entries to the modsettings.lsx file. You can just copy and paste another mod's entries and then paste the new mod's relevant information.
