When you activate Spell Combat and the message says "Immune" that's because you're wielding an ineligible weapon for Spell Combat, e.g. Two-Handed Weapon, Ranged Weapon, etc., not because of Paladin's Divine Health.
Case in point, Sorcerer 3/Paladin 3, using Quarterstaff (Versatile Weapon)
If so, as long as you meet the requirement of the glove effect, it does count as Spellstrike. You would be able to cast a ranged spell attack as a bonus action and guaranteed to hit if the previous melee weapon attack is a success, the same as any melee spell attack.
The moment no enemy flanks you though, spell ranged attack no longer acts as a melee spell attack and any ranged spell will benefit from Spellcombat instead.
i want to make sure Im understanding the mod right before i dl it, But does this feat basically make all of your melee atk spells into smite style spell attacks ?
I never played Paladin in BG3, and after watching a few video of Paladin Gameplay, Smite Style attack IS what I intended to emulate with this feat. Yeah, smite style attack is basically how Spellstrike works in Pathfinder.
Unfortunately, for now with this feat can’t emulate that fluidly so it’s feels more like Extra Attack except that the spell part is guaranteed to hit if your melee attack is successful.
Thanks for pointing out Paladin, I honestly never know something similar to Pathfinder’s Spellstrike exist here, will use that as reference point to improve the mod.
Glad i could help, also in that same vein if you need ideas for how some of coding may work theres a modded sublass called hexblade that has warlock based smites involved too. I have no idea how modding something like this would go since its a feat vs a modded spell/class feature but it might let you figure how to make things easier to implement or to expand it later if you want to
I love Magus/Melee mage type combat from Pathfinder so thanks! Altho, BG3 has little "touch" spells and Sorcs don't get access to Inflict wounds which is a shame since it's the perfect candidate for lvl 1 touch spell.
Yes, at first I was implemented Spellstrike and quickly discover the only touch spell Sorcerer can access is Shocking Grasp, which is why I decided to add Spell Combat as well.
You can try using the 5e Spells mod, it’s compatible with this mod, it adds several melee spell from 5e + gives Sorcerer some access to melee spell that are previously only given to other class like Vampiric Touch.
