Head and Body Mods set up to utilize Unique Tav are inherently compatible with this Mod
This includes the included Textures, as well as the new Tattoo, Makeup & Scar related features & the shader updates


This mod is not compatible with the Unique Tav .pak

This mod is an alternative to Unique Tav with expanded features and changes to it’s backend functionality
In order to ensure compatibility with Unique Tav enabled Mods, this Mod and the original Unique Tav .pak are set up to overwrite each other

If you want to use custom body textures with KAVT: Due to the changes to the materials (moving from Traditional to Virtual Textures), some conversions will be required if you’d like to use custom Body Textures that are not inherently included in this Mod and not also setup to function with Virtual Tav/KAVT.
You can find a detailed guide as to how to convert your textures for use with this mod here.

This is not a requirement to use KAVT and does not apply to KAVT NVP.


This mod is compatible with any Unique Tav enabled Mod

Any Mod inherently set up for Unique Tav can also be used with KAVT/KAVT NVP.

For Head Mods, this means the new Tattoo, Makeup & Scar options will be available on any Head Mod that supports Unique Tav.
For Body Mesh edits, this means that your Body Mesh changes will function alongside this Mod as they would with Unique Tav.

For Body Texture edits it is important whether you chose KAVT or KAVT NVP.

For KAVT, this means that your Body Texture changes will function alongside this Mod, although with a small difference to Unique Tav. They will require some conversion, unless the textures used are explicitly set up to function alongside Virtual Tav/KAVT. You can find more information below.

For KAVT, this means that your Body Texture changes will function alongside this Mod as they would with Unique Tav.


v1.2 - Modded Races may need a minor Update


In order to cleanly implement some of our backend changes and to keep the need for compatibility patches to a minimum,
modded Races’ Unique Tav patches may require a very minor update to their Character Visuals entries.
Any Races supported by Glow Eyes will automatically have the necessary parameter added to their Character Visuals entries
within Glow Eyes’ Unique Tav Patch, adding compatibility.

Unique Textures & Body Meshes

This mod adds new Head Textures for Tattoos, Makeup & Scars, and new Body Meshes & Textures that only affect your Tav.
This allows you to customize your Tav without any of these customizations affecting NPCs.


KAVT Only - Virtual Texture Materials

The Body Textures added by this mod are in the form of Virtual Textures. Using Virtual Textures instead of traditional shaders
allows us to access more features than would be possible using Traditional Textures, such as Glow, Opacity, and more.

Additionally, we’ve changed the Wrinkle Map from a traditional Texture to a Virtual Texture to create additional space within the Head Shader to add our Head Glowmap features. This means that if you use KAVT, you’ll need to use the KAVT-compatible version of Less Wrinkled Expression.



Extended Tattoo, Makeup & Scar Atlases & Slots

This mod increases the size of the Tattoo, Makeup & Scar atlas and maps this new space to new Slots in CC.
This means that any new Tattoos, Makeup or Scars you add to the new, expanded section of each atlas will appear
as their own option in CC, instead of replacing existing options as was the case up until now.

You can now access 24 Scars (previously 9), 89 Tattoos (previously 44), and 32 Makeup styles (previously 16)


Custom Tattoo, Makeup & Scar Icons

This mod adds new CC icons for all new Tattoo, Makeup & Scar slots, and replaces vanilla CC icons for visual consistency and modder access.
Additionally, we’ve implemented these icons in a way that will allow other modders to add their own CC icons to their Tattoo, Makeup & Scar mods without needing to edit a variety of .lsx files to do so. Custom CC icons for these slots can simply be added by overriding the CC icon atlases included in this mod.



Shader Updates

This mod natively includes a number of adjustments to shaders used by heads and bodies. This means this Mod has no dependencies.

These shader changes do not negatively impact gameplay or visuals, they simply aim to add a number of additional features. This
includes both Glow and Sweat for bodies (previously one or the other), as well as additional, individually colorable Tattoos for both Heads (KAVT only; 3 total) and Bodies (3 total), Opacity for Heads (KAVT only) and Bodies, and the additional Tattoo, Makeup and Scar slots in CC.

Adding your own Tattoos, Makeup, and/or Scars

If you’re familiar with customizing your Tattoos and Makeup when using Unique Tav, you already know almost everything there is
to know about adding custom Tattoos, Makeup, and/or Scars to KAVT or KAVT NVP.

To add your own Tattoos, Makeup and Scars, you’ll need to overwrite the following files within your game files.

For Tattoos and Makeup, the atlas’ DDS compression required is DXT1/BC1*. For Scars, the atlas’ DDS compression required is BC7/DX11+.

Differences between KAVT/KAVT NVP and Unique Tav atlases:
- The names of the files have been changed
- A scar atlas is now available, consisting of 5x5 tiles (2x5 in Vanilla)
- Tattoo & Makeup atlases are now larger, consisting of 4x8 tiles (previously 4x4)

A template for these new, larger atlases is available in the optional files.
Please note that you’ll need to increase the size of your atlases in order for the game to read them correctly.

v1.2 - Makeup Atlas Size
Due to issues with Head Textures when running the DX11 version of the game, we’ve reduced the size of the Makeup atlas from
8192px x 16384px to 4048px x 8192px. The Tattoo atlas remains at it’s larger size.
The game appears to only be able to handle one atlas of this larger size at a time.

*Larger Tattoo and Makeup Atlases must be compressed using Paint.NET to function correctly.
When running the DX11 version of the game, our larger Tattoo atlas won’t load correctly if compressed using the usual method (BC1).
You can either reduce the size of the atlas to 4048 x 8192 (from 8192 x 16384) and use BC1, or retain the larger atlas size and compress using the following settings:





Adding a Body or Head Glow Map

KAVT includes an optional Glow Map that allow you to add a glowing Head and Body Tattoo to your Tav by editing the Red channel of the Texture.
Additionally, you can add an additional non-glowing Tattoo to the Head and Body by adding it to the Blue channel of this texture.

You can add and customize this texture the same way you’d customize your Tattoos, Makeup & Scars by overwriting the file at the following path:

Body: …\Baldurs Gate 3\Data\Generated\Public\Shared\Assets\unique_tav\BODY\GLOWY\KVT_Body_Glowmap.DDS
Head: …\Baldurs Gate 3\Data\Generated\Public\Shared\Assets\unique_tav\FACE\GLOWY\KVT_Head_Glowmap.DDS

For the Glow Map, the DDS compression required is DXT5/BC3.

Please note that the Head Glow Map is a KAVT feature not usable with KAVT NVP. The Body Glow Map is available for both KAVT and KAVT NVP.



KAVT - Adding your own Body Textures

As mentioned above, in order to use your own Body Textures - either personal edits, or Body Texture Mods that are compatible with Unique Tav but not explicitly compatible with Virtual Tav/KAVT - with KAVT, some conversion will be necessary. This is due to the fact that KAVT uses different shaders
than Unique Tav. These shaders allow for more options across the board, such as the Glow Map, Transparency and more, but the format of Textures
they are able to process is slightly different from traditional Textures. This kind of Texture is called a Virtual Texture.

KAVT NVP - Adding your own Body Textures

If you’re familiar with customizing your Body Textures when using Unique Tav, you already know everything there is to know
about customizing your Body Textures using KAVT NVP.

You can add Body Texture overrides by placing them in the appropriate folder(s) at the following path:

…\Baldurs Gate 3\Data\Generated\Public\Shared\Assets\unique_tav\BODY\…

KazVirtualTav Non-Virtual Port

In order to allow users who don’t want to use Virtual Textures despite their benefits to do so, we’ve made an alternate version of KAVT available as an optional file. This version functions much like the original Unique Tav and uses traditional textures instead of Virtual Textures. Usability of this version is identical to Unique Tav, with the exception of Tattoos, Makeup and Scars, which function the same way they do in KAVT.


Tattoo, Makeup & Scar Atlas Resource

This resource bundle includes a variety of files to help you edit the new Atlases added by this mod.
This bundle includes the following files:

- .psd files of each atlas, merged (to avoid re-compressing the included atlas, which decreases quality)
- .psd files of each atlas, working file (separated channels for tattoos, separated new additions for all three)
- PDF guide on how to use these files

As requested, we’ve made a Glowmap Resource available as of v1.2. This resource bundle includes a variety of files to help you create Glowmaps to use alongside KAVT /KAVT NVP.

- Example .psd files of each Glowmap, working file (separated channels with examples)
