Hey guys, see there been some commentary since I last checked. Sorry I have zero interest to keep modding BG3, because frankly, past act2 its simply in a very poor state. The balance is also completely off, no matter what I do to the Slayer at this point will not make him remotely competitive with obscene OP characters that exist bc of Larian take on D&D 5E rules.
If (when) we get definitive edition I will probably revisit this mod if its still necessary. See you then.
For those curious about the slayer "hidden ability"

I don't know how to get it in ch1 but in ch3 you need to save Volo again. Depending on when you do so and the conversation you have with him, he will ether give you a book on slayers or you can quickly kill him for it. Read the book in your inv and you get the ability piercing growl.
Is there a chance we can get a balanced version similar to the one found at https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/10131 I wanted to use it from the very beginning of a playthrough, but it's far too strong in both damage and health.
Losing extra attack hurts slayer way too much imo, even with an extra action most martials go from 3 to 2, and fighters at the end of the game go from 4 to 2.
Just wanted to second this, I like the idea of a cool mod like this but the mod is still very unwhelming and it is far better to simply use a normal build. The Slayer is still very weak compared to normal builds in the game, not even just the OP paladin builds, but normal builds. A fighter in most cases is just much better than this. I think giving it action surge would help, a way to at least give him some extra actions for one turn. But mainly his damage really needs to be buffed, the lvl 10 "increase" is still very weak.
You could also heavily increase the DC needed for them to pass. Con saves are the easiest saves in the game to make because EVERYTHING ups con, that's why tho stunning strikes are cool, they often don't stun because it's a con save, the combo does not work at all if they pass the con save and it is almost always a better idea to just simply do basic hits instead of going for the combo.
Any time I try to run this mod with mod manager, my save game says that this mod is inactive, even after re-installing it, activating it in the mod manager, saving it, exporting it, refreshing, and then even manually placing it in the mod folder as well.
Anyone know if there is a mod that allows you to use spells while in Slayer Form? I know it might not be lore friendly and stuff, but I just prefer having some ranged alternatives.
Hey! Thanks for making this mod, it's has made using the slayer form worth it for me when I already can do similar damage with the normal form of my character in most playthroughs. (I only wish there was a version of the mod that lets you use the slayer form every short rest instead of long rest) but asides from that, I just wanted to ask if the mod would need to be updated to patch 4, as it seems in the patch notes they tweaked the slayer just a little.
I read the patch notes, does not seem like it would break my mod, unless they changed how things are coded or organized. Let me know if it's no longer working.
I actually think that Vanilla Slayer is great, they have this underwhelming form at early levels and much more powerful version later on, now that they add extra attack and save scaling to him, is probably really nice.
The problem is that in act3 you regular form, as you say, gets too strong and that's a problem with Larian homebrew and itemisation. I just tried to find a middle ground, so people who don't try to actively break the game and don't use OP builds can still have fun using Slayer. Unfortunately even this buffed form is no match for optimized builds.
Thanks for the quick answer, I haven't try playing yet, I...Play with like 70 or so mods so you could guess I'm waiting for the important ones to update to play my next campaing, but yeah I'll check out how Slayer is doing with the mod when I get to play. (Sorry Isobel lmao). I wonder tho, I know how broken is tavern brawler feat and stuff, but does the game not count The slayer skills as unarmed damage? Idk if you have look into it on how it works, I'm just curious.

Quick question, is this safe to uninstall mid-playthrough? :)
